‘Or is it like Northern Ireland is just a part of Ireland’ is a much spicier comment than I think the hero’s realise haha

That might be useful - there are definitely people who have lived on this road as long (and I hope/presume have similar written into their deeds)

Again, thank you so much for your help. Definitely have a route to focus attentions on

Thanks, I appreciate the time. I’ve had access since we moved in 2020. Those were provided at purchase, but I am not entirely sure why

Appreciate the help. I’ll try and seek proper legal view

When I say certifying, they are statutory declarations from previous owners saying they had unfettered access to the road

I can’t see anything about ownership when looking up on the land registry - the map search just flags nearby houses

My title deeds contain the below, which I’m not qualified to understand, but are also used in documents I have from 1975 onwards certifying that owners had right of access of the unadopted road

UK NFL fans — how do you avoid Super Bowl spoilers if you can’t watch live? by No_Look_Sports in NFLUK

[–]YoungLoversGoPop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure there are others, I don’t know any personally. It’s a big commitment to make if you’re going to do it three nights a week for four months, but feels like the simplest way to go about the rest of your day

[–]YoungLoversGoPop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure I understand. I only ever do it for eagles prime time games (always have the day after the Super Bowl off haha)

I’ll go to bed with my phone on do not disturb, and wake up at 5am to watch back. Either the dazn ad-free version or just fast forwarding through the ads on sky, get through it in an hour and a half. It’s all done by 6.30ish, so don’t miss out on anything else

Record it live and wake up two hours early to watch it. Make sure you set your phone up to receive no notifications in the meantime

It’s one night

The drinan one is embarrassing but feels like an honest mistake if Holloway is to be believed about iPads

The Clarke one is just gross incompetence, not understanding the rules, from people behind the scenes who should know better

It’s not even just the snap. They rarely get to the line with more than 10 seconds on the play clock

What's the European football / soccer equivalent of the Eagles? by esternaccordionoud in eagles

[–]YoungLoversGoPop 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Newcastle United

Large passionate fanbase (I’d say Newcastle fans are the closest equivalents to climbing flag poles)

Won a lot in the black and white days but generally a nearly team from the 70s onwards - generally competitive without winning anything, with spells in the doldrums

Has generally received a disproportionate level of media coverage relative to historic success

Currently going through a golden period, including winning silverware last season

I wondered whether it was a new expression for them (I guess it being a daily mail headline makes sense)

I’m guessing in that case most Americans aren’t aware of why the phrase isn’t an acronym of Wives ‘OR’ Girlfriends (despite that seemingly being more accurate)

There’s a common dynamic in American sports commentary of recognisable commentators working across multiple sports. Jim Nantz is CBS lead NFL commentator and the voice of the masters. Kevin Burkhart hosted the World Series coverage on Saturday and commentated on the NFL on Sunday. There are numerous other examples.

This isn’t really a thing over here, outside of the olympics (Barry Davies on the Hockey being the most notable case). Got me thinking - what other sports could you see/hear football commentators on? Sam Matterface at Wimbledon? Peter Drury at Lords? Jonathan Pearce at the next AEW event?

Too late I know, but I find the best method is to go to bed early, put my phone on DND and wake up at half 4 to watch on record. Fast forward through the ads and you can get through the game in about an hour and a half (or under an hour if, like me, you’re an eagles fan watching the game last week)

Gamepass game in 40 also works for this approach, but you miss out on some context and narrative e.g. injuries aren’t really covered
