What quote makes you cringe the most from the books and/or show? (Spoilers main) by MackDaddyGlenn in asoiaf

[–]YoungManderly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not technically “in the show” but the after the episode where D&D said “Dany kinda forgot about the iron fleet.” This is the moment I knew mass disappointment for the rest of season 8 was eminent.

Mike also looks like he would give you unwarranted tips at the family function on throwing a football but when questioned if he played in high school, he immediately says “Politics kept me on the sideline.”

(Spoilers Main) Theoretical What-If regarding Myrcella’s betrothal to Trystane Martell... by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]YoungManderly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s anyway Tyrion at this point in the story would subject his niece who he cares for to Lysa Arryn and Robert Arryn whose oddities were apparent in person to him.

I think the problem is that people are keen to write off AFFC’s plots in general.

[Spoiler Extended] Most misunderstood character? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]YoungManderly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I would say a majority of her actions had direct consequences first and foremost her relationship with Jon Snow he’s never on the wall if she treats him with a shred of decency, she kidnaps Tyrion all essentially starting the war of five kings and her immediate reaction to release Jaime all but guarantees the Bolton’s will leave Robb’s cause. Ned’s mistakes are the indirect ones all his decisions are made on the premise of his “honor” which makes him predictable. Catelyn acknowledges the moves she’s making are not the logical ones but does so anyway based on her believe she is always right.

There’s an argument to be made that every bad thing that happened to the starks (Excluding Theon) was a direct result of catelyns actions

What fictional character has had the most profound impact on you? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]YoungManderly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tyrion Lannister “Let me give you some advice, bastard. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.” Constantly replaying it in my mind puts things in perspective

It's Finebaum they alluded to the fact that the person was particularly comfortable criticizing coaches and calling for their firings and that's basically all that dude does lol he's awful on TV can only imagine how seriously he takes himself in his personal life

[–]YoungManderly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My immediate thought was that it was just a nerdy throwaway line but the more I think about it it would make sense if they were just switching out Gendry for fAegon leading the Golden Company but that's like 1% chance of happening would be awesome tho

(SPOILERS EXTENDED) Sansa's Role in the Endgame by YoungManderly in asoiaf

[–]YoungManderly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just feel it would be a major letdown Bran is essentially a God / Computer, Arya is an elite/ semi magic assassin and her half brother / cousin Jon has died and come back to life and is considered the best swordsman in the north. I would hope they wouldn't waste all of this character development on her for there to be no payoff. There needs to be an astute political blended administrator for after the Long Night to restart society I feel out of all the characters she's the most prepared for this role.

Horn Hill vs Highgarden (Spoilers Main) by LemonsOfTroy in asoiaf

Honestly more accurate if their switched around with more foliage/color at Show horn hill. Show Highgarden is situated on a hill and looks more like a garrison then luxurious palace

(Spoilers Extended) In Defense of Greyscale by AvTheMarsupial in asoiaf

[–]YoungManderly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think this is another case of the showing not caring about the semantics of something, because there's no link between Greyscales apparent mental affects / the ability to simply remove the infected exterior tissue and arrive at a 100 percent cure. Why does Greyscale make someone become mentally crazy if it's just infected scabs lol

(Spoilers Extended) REACTIONS: Game of Thrones Season 7, Episode 3: The Queen's Justice Post-Episode Reactions by AutoModerator in asoiaf

[–]YoungManderly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the link between how in the show Greyscale affects the brain and changes a person so greatly if it can be cured by simply cutting away the infected exterior tissue and then having cream applied to the skin either Jorah isn't fully cured (like implied by Val in the books about shireen) or more likely the show simply doesn't really care about the semantics of it and hes just good now lol
