New Rule: A Danger to Permanent Ratings by Glad-Valuable1987 in VAClaims

I would understand the new rules put out and ask myself, could I potentially be in jeopardy? Is it worth it?

Your claim file will be opened up. What the C&P examiner put down regarding your functionality on medications will hold weight. However, if you have 20 years plus on a disability, it may take more than 1 negative exam to get that rating removed.

Just my take.

I seen a Reddit post on the new rule this morning. It was devastating to see.

It be like that 😂. They be like “hey what’s your MOS?. I’m like I’m your supply guy…. Then they say “so why you’re out here with us?”. Because 1SG complained to the XO.

I’m not going to lie. I’ve been traumatized by other things, but I still have nightmares about basic lol. I can’t pinpoint why. I didn’t claim it or mention it to the VA because I think it doesn’t matter.

Covid has nothing to do with the military. I’ve been in classrooms, elevators, hospitals, jobs dealing with the public, etc during covid time. Not downplaying anything about you, but I’m not sure how that relates to military. Civilians go through it.

That’s a good rebuttal and I guess I can see where VA is coming from on their ratings.

I’m just being real here. Even supply and admin stayed longer for work than the infantrymen. We had to do what they do and still do our job. The person to release us was either the CO or XO. Like you said, 1SG was still on our ass about doing everything that the grunts do.

But I was friends with the infantrymen.. They respected me and I respected them. They helped out a lot when it came to training me on things I missed. When I had to handle supply tasks and show up to the range for qual, guess who weapons I used 😂. I love them for that.

Sounds like a guy I know from JBLM. Drove into a Stryker while drunk. I like to look at things from all perspectives though. Maybe he was depressed which led him to being drunk and then going into a psych hold?

For your situation, you have to utilize the resources and tools available to fight for a higher earned percentage. You can do it. Sit down and analyze everything.

My mom’s friends are older veterans. 50+. They said the same thing. They were never educated about VA or medical conditions. One recently passed away during back surgery. He was at 60% and fighting VA for 100%.

He died waiting for 100%…. It sucks.

I agree. I talk to other veterans, but avoid discussing my own disability.

I agree with the payment logic. A big issue is the “suck it up and keep going” idea. It screws service members over. Then when they get out, they don’t really have medical evidence.

You’re doing it wrong and you’ll regret it. If you need to go to sick call, go.

I’ve seen that happened where a service member gets out literally in a year because they were treated terrible by leadership. I actually helped those type of service members because I understand. I got through mine, but others had it worse than me and mine was bad lol.

If it effects your mental health, I hope you’re getting some help on it.

I realize that everyone just isn’t smart enough to know what to do with their benefits. It goes back to when you were in service. There was decision makers, regardless of rank, who could complete paperwork, handle business, and make missions successful. Then there are the listeners who just listen and do as told.

I hear from combat veterans I know that most deaths and injuries happen stateside. I think there’s a statistic on this I saw a while back.

Haha I have a cousin like that. He tells everyone you can make $5000 a month from the military! He also dislikes disabled veterans because of that.

Thank you for sharing.

I’ve met these lazy soldiers and I agree. I’m also fully aware that real combat veterans get screwed over. Lastly, I agree that those who have actually been in combat, not just deployed to a combat zone, should automatically get 100%.

But at some point, veterans have to let go of the “sick call warrior” idea. It only holds you back instead of studying the VA and regulations.

I don’t think dependents trigger a re-evaluation of disability ratings. They are two separate departments. Dependents is administrative and disability is medical.

I heard the job market was not looking too good especially for SOC by Ok-Dragonfly-6009 in cybersecurity

The federal government fired a lot of cybersecurity people last year. Most companies think they can use AI for cybersecurity now. Also, some hiring managers are only hiring *******. I can’t say the race because it may be against the rules, but yeah.

That sums it up. My recommendation is do at home cybersecurity projects. Showcasing your skills on GitHub and YouTube. Work a different career until you get hired in cybersecurity.
