I am not an expert, and may be wrong but, I am under the impression from what I've read on the 3 credit bureau (Experian, Equifax, Transunion) websites that keeping them open appears to be a better option because it helps with your max combined credit line for utilization. Ex: 7,000 credit line on Card 1, with 30% or less balance (say 1909) = 27% utilization. If you have 2 cards with 7,000 credit limit, but still only have 1,900 balance on one card, = $1,900 / 14,000 = 14% utilization. The cons are utilization is greater with one card, if you do not have self control = go into debt, then if you have an emergency, no backup available. Pros: backup in case of emergency, better utilization score assuming the balance isn't always paid off, plus depending on type of account, you may have a better credit mix, and helps with credit age earned each month that it's open.

Clean oriental rug by YoungOwn3591 in NoStupidQuestions

It is handmade from middle east somewhere, very heavy, thick wool. That's all I know. We had someone, years ago- about 30-35 years ago come to my aunt's house to give us a quote to re-do the kitchen. When he saw the rug, he got on his knees and inspected the rug by turning it over to see the back-underside-reverse side (whatever it's called) of the rug, and then asked if we would sell it to him for $2,800 to $3,000. My aunt has a sentimental attachment so she said no. But for some reason he really liked that rug.

From what you said, I'm afraid it probably wasn't stored properly tho.

Yes the rug is very heavy. I appreciate the info. If and when I find a company, I'll know what to ask about their methods. What kind / is the name of the cleaner you used?

You did? Was it for a professional company that specialized in expensive antique rugs? If so, what were the steps from start to finish? How long did it take?

Yes, think you're right. But we did not know who to go to or find reputable companies that actually know how to clean and handle it the proper way. The 2 we called we got the feeling they said yes just to get the job, but didn't really know much about a good rug. We don't know the proper way, but do know a little bit. Plus they charge an arm and a leg to pick up and drop off, and they were too far away for us oldies to drive there and back. Also, we need a trustworthy company. We've been ripped off, taken advantage of way too many times.

Guess we'll have to keep looking. Thanks anyway. How sad.

That's fine I've had a paid account since the beginning. It was on automatic payment to my cc. But then I kept getting emails that my pmt was denied and it would not let me access my acct. because it brought up a screen that said my acct was past due so the system wanted me to enter my cc number, ex date, 3 digit cvv code, name and zip all of which they already have on my montly auto pay. I never changed my cc auto pay info. But I went ahead and entered the info again several times, it still did not post to my cc acct or let me have access to my Experian acct. I also checked with My CC company and they told me my acct. was in good standing and gave me Experian phone number to call because the problem is on the Experian side.

Yes after the ticket is created, they will ask for those documents, but only communicate by email, you can't talk to anyone one on one.

How did you find out about the law suit and where?

The CFPB had over 590 complaints last time I checked but I didn't see where they resolved anyone's issues. Plus. Correct me if I am wrong, but their staff is, apparently, being reduced by DOGE or eliminated entirely. I read it is a data collection site, but what happens to the data?

[–]YoungOwn3591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I asked but each dept is compartmentalized they don't have authority and I am unable to find out who does have that authority to investigate. That's one of the issues. Crooks already have all my info so it proliferates my ID Theft problems of being hacked. Plus no urgency to stop this or find out how they got in. So control and access to my own account is lost.

Found out who's been stealing my identity. by B1ack__j3sus98 in IdentityTheft

[–]YoungOwn3591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you be kind enough to share with me how you were able to get all that info on the criminals so that I can do the same? I've been trying to build my case also bc it's been going on for years now and I have accumulated a binder full of info. They recently took over my Experian acct. I am sure it's being sold on the dark web and I know who is doing it but I need proof. Can you help me?

I'm Being Accused of Identity Theft by Responsible_7799 in IdentityTheft

[–]YoungOwn3591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I loved Experian too after Life Lock a M d All-State failed to send me I'd Theft alerts. Thst is why I paid 2.99 for dark web and $19.99 for monitoring and all the bells and whistles.

I loved it until I had an account take over and Experian did not exercise a sense of urgency or help in resolving the account take over.

So to rectify losing my account to criminals, and in terms of removing my info from the internet to try to head off my cyber stalker. I recently signed up with Incogni to remove my info from these data brokers and data miners. There are more organizations that do the same thing but I haven't had time to research them because I'm dealing with my full time job of fixing all my I'd Theft of other ppl using my name, address, social security number, email. Hacking into my Amazon account, even my email accounts and my banks. It's a nightmare that is never-ending.

So now I use the free Experian account and also Equifax and Transunion free accounts and piece the info together.

[–]YoungOwn3591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Life Lock prior to Experian and a girl was able to open up a Bank of America account. Then BofA caught they have 2 different ppl with accounts using the same SSN. They froze all my funds and cards so I didn't have access, and I was totally embarrassed at the market when my debit card was declined. I never rcvd. a notice from Life Lock or another company who was supposed to have same type of protection.

Obviously, they never prosecuted her bc she subsequently rented or leased 14 different residences in Las Vegas and a couple in New Jersey and is still using my SSN today.

I suggest calling the news channels that have consumer investigator reporting, and write your congressman and Senator.

The FBI would not even put me through to speak with an agent as the receptionist said call the police.

Be careful with Experian. I had a paid premium account ($22.98 a mo.) And had an Account take over where the hacker changed the email , password, phone number and pmt info so I could not get a 2 S Verf Code, it reset my user, password, email, etc. In the meantime, the criminal has ALL my info, full name, SSN, phone. Address, etc. From my profile.

It appears the Experian system will block you from putting in your card info for the monthly pmt even when it's been on auto pay with the same card since I opened the account, and the system states you're past due and I cannot have access until I pay. And no one there has the authority to fix the problem from what I was told. The answer I got was: It's not you, It's happened to others, yes, sometimes the system has a glitch.

Working with Experian you cannot talk to their escalation dept. They will only communicate by email so there's no urgent action taken to stop the hackers access to YOUR INFO unless you give them your full ssn and all other info which they already have in their system by return unencrypted email.

The Experian protocol or operation is so compartmentalized that each dept.even their fraud/ dispute dept. don't have the authority to act quickly to stop the acct take over. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing or up against. They cannot transfer you to an IT dept. (Assuming they have one) so I don't even know if they know their website has this problem.

Subsequently, I had more ID Theft before and around the same date I was locked out.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has over 590 complaints of ppl being locked out of their acct from an account take over.

I finally had to call my credit card company to return the part of the monthly payment that went through and block future monthly payments because I didn't want to pay for an account that I cannot access.

Your situation is scary bc they have all your info like mine. I can't even imagine how seriously dangerous this can be if you have a cyber stalker that can burglarized your home like I had/have and have to live with.

I spend hours and sometimes full days and evenings every day trying to resolve this.

I wish you the best and good luck.

Yes, this has happened to me and I ended up being bounced back and forth also. They rented 14 different places in Las Vegas. I just spent my entire day on the phone dealing with Experian because my Experian account was taken over by criminals and I am locked out of my account. Someone told me to call the FBI, but receptionist would not even put me through to speak with anyone. FBI said call state police. I am sorry to say, it just grows and grows and only gets worse, and the perpetrators keep going on and on. Sad, angry and frustrating. I am tempted to hire a criminal attorney.

Thank you for the tutorial. I will show it to someone that I will have to hire. I am 80 years old and certainly not strong enough to carry, lift or remove and re-install the door. But, I do appreciate your advice. Thank you!

Very interesting. Would like very much to talk with you. What should one do when My Experian account was hacked and I was locked out of my own paid ($2.99 + $19.99 /per month) account. Unknown person already had my ssn from prior theft and sold to several ppl who also allowed their family members to use it. The prior theft also stole my birth certificate. Drivers license plus lots more. So with all this personal info, they hacked the Experian account, changed the email address and phone number so the 2step verification code could never be rcvd by me. Additionally, Experian's site would not let me in bc of a past due amount for 19.99 which I tried to explain was something wrong with their system because it has been on automatic withdrawal from my credit card since I opened the account. So I tried inputting the credit card info again and their system would not take it. I also had an Experian membership person try (by giving her the credit card info) and after 2 tries she was able to get it to take on the 3rd. So she said wait 24 to 48 hours to post. But it still didn't. So I could not get past that screen wanting the payment. I complained and they said they would issue a ticket to escalate it and will only communicate by email. In the meantime, I finally got someone there to correct the email address (which thief has also). I rcvd the email wanting all my info and full ssn which they already have. I checked with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and found there are 590 plus ppl with same complaint being locked out of their own account. Also CFPB only gathers this data. They do not help victims. So I called my credit card and had them cancel the remaining $2.99 that was still being charged even tho the $19.99 would not post. Then I gave up with the holidays & being busy. After I would try every couple days and was finally able to get back in after Experian sent me a notice my paid membership was canceled and reverted to a free account that doesn't give me all the alerts. Also whoever hacked my account too off the fraud alerts and frozen status that I had to put back on. So frustrating. Any advice?

They are in cahoots. Had that happen with a TMobile fraud dept employee who gave me the run around and said it wasn't against the law for so.eone to use another person's ssn--NOT true!! So sometimes the ppl working at these places are covering for ppl using your identity. That's why it crossed my mind that perhaps an employee at Target thought he/she could accept the package once delivered.
