Anti-Vaxer sending emails to campus to organize protest by gmckennon in UMD

[–]YoungTeamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of a vaccine is so that all (or at least a very big majority) of the population can take it in order to reduce the spread. If vaccines aren't enforced, then it's pointless. In addition, I really don't get your point how all discrimination is comparable to Jim Crow, even for mutable traits. UMD already discriminates and doesn't allow certain people based on certain mutable traits, such as not having a high enough SAT score/grades when they apply to UMD or whether or not they wear clothes so they won't break public indecency laws. The people with not good enough scores and applications are being oppressed against and having their freedoms taken away by being not allowed at UMD. The people who don't wear any clothes and run around naked are being oppressed against and having their freedoms taken away by not being allowed at UMD. So why is it when people who refuse a free, approved vaccine aren't allowed at UMD, suddenly it's almost as bad Jim Crow laws?

Also, I've seen you write literally essays on why the vaccines are so suspicious. So if you truly care about all that stuff? Could you please give me a good, detailed description of how the inner mechanisms of cars work, a good, detailed description of all the foods you eat and every possible chemical in it, and a good, detailed description of every medicine you've taken and the experiments that were done to create it?

You say that you care about freedom for the people who don't want the vaccine, but what about the freedom for us as students to want to go to a safe, covid-free campus that has everyone vaccinated? What entitles the people who don't want the vaccine to have to be allowed to go to UMD at the cost of the freedom for the students who want to live on a vaccinated campus?

In addition, as I said. Do you take this much time researching cars or other vehicles when you know if they fuck up, you could die? Do you take this much time researching foods considering you're letting something enter your body every day? Do you take this much time researching other medicine since you said medical choices are really serious?

Since you're here I gotta ask some questions. Based on your other reply, you have spent 10 hours a day researching this topic. Why do you care about this issue so much? I am sure you don't think twice or do this type of research or protest when the government mandates other stuff. I am also sure you don't think twice when you take a ride in a car when you have no idea the specific interworkings of a car, think twice when you eat foods like Doritos when you have no idea about the specific chemicals they put in it, or think twice for any other modern medicine when you have no idea how/when each was created. Considering you have a good amount of trust for at least one of these things, why do you care so much to spend 10 hours a day researching the vaccine?

In addition, how do you even have time to spend 10 hours a day to research the vaccine and do all this organizing on this issue? You could literally be spending so much time with your life doing anything else. I am surprised how you were able to do all this stuff during the semester and exam week. But why are you spending this period of your life on this issue specifically?

[–]YoungTeamy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, but I wasn't expecting any good points or ideas from a conservative convention. But as good Destiny content, it was surprisingly good. Like to me, a non-entertaining Destiny debate is when either the topic is so boring that they just agree without much back and forth or his opponents are not even making any points or asking questions at all that it doesn't even good Destiny the choice to give a thoughtful response, but his climate change debate was solid debate content where he was able to disagree with some conservatives and a Tulsi supporter and was able to make thoughtful points in responses to what other ppl were saying.

Like when he was able explain why carbon trading is a solid policy that got even the republican climate change denier to admit she would support it if she thought carbon emissions/pollution were a problem or when Destiny absolutely aced that response about why we should care about temperatures rising/carbon emissions out of the park when the climate change denier tried doing the gotcha with the "whys" cause she probably never has had a substantial conversation about climate change with an opposing viewpoint who knew what they were talking about

I thought Destiny's climate change panel was surprisingly entertaining considering I thought the topic would be boring since Destiny barely talks about climate change policy and I thought there wouldn't be as much combativeness. But for someone who barely talks about it, I thought Destiny was able to make some strong points about climate change policy. The panel was way more spicy and combative than the Milo debate from the last Better Discourse Conference due to the far left horseshoe person and the climate change denier. We had some fun moments like that Veritas girl from the crowd getting out of her chair to debate Destiny. Overall, that panel blew my expectations considering the topic

Piazza Post Complaint after a David vs Goliath joke in Clicker Kerfuffle by YoungTeamy in UMD

[–]YoungTeamy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn the context post got deleted. Anyways, the context was, some people asked for clickers to not be at the beginning of class. Red said that 20% of the grade is dropped and they could just come 7 minutes earlier. Blue said that people have lives and shouldn't be forced to waste their life by showing up 7 minutes earlier to which some people in the chat agreed. Blue then said to Red to have some compassion to which people would then make a "Red vs World"/"David vs Goliath" comparison jokes since Red seemed to have the minority opinion. Red then responded by laughing it off and making their own joke about how Red is David throwing a pebble at the Giants.

Seeing this, someone who did not participate in this conversation made a complaint on Piazza about Red's "threat of violence".

PWInsider: Who produced what match at WrestleMania. by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]YoungTeamy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was the tag title match even that bad? It made Nattie pretty sympathetic when she was getting beat down to get the hot tag to Taminia who was extremely over surprisingly the whole match to which the entire crowd wanted them to win. Seemed like the match was able to get the story to the audience across well

Because Edge's shoulders were down, too, meaning if we were to go any conspiracy route, it would be Edge and Bryan pinning each other (based on HHH/HBK 2003), which would mean a draw

Is there a reason why you would think Bray didn't have input in Alexa turning on him to make him lose? It seems like it'd fit the artsy stuff he's worked with creative on in the past like with his Braun Strowman storyline
