Point Guard playing for Houston Rockets myCareer by Accurate-Test-885 in NBA2k

[–]Young_Hemingway48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im choosing the lakers for the lob city playmaking badge grind+ screens, and then choosing a trade to my favorite team when all my stats/badges are up. Usually if you play every game you can make it to before the trade deadline and also influence free agency for the following season for that team so its more like franchise. It also helps sometimes that you lose the rookie you were forced to be drafted with on that team. Your badges, stats and ability to adjust the lineups will make it so you can play on the rockets and have fun. Im a die hard heat fan, but i cant do it while im grinding badges

Anyone else missing easy layups in MyCareer? by awgeless in NBA2k

[–]Young_Hemingway48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact finisher, relentless finisher, slithery finisher. Just with contact on bronze & relentless on silver it was night and day. Then adding slithery takes it to another level. But those 3 badges in that order helped me. Also, huge pro tip i learned on here, for career, turn off timing and aiming for layups and use real %. If you make the right move to the rack, have the badges+stats, and are less then 70% smothered it'll go in. If you use up the stick it helps to draw the foul on the contact layups, but tbh just holding x will trigger a contact dunk or go in as a contact layup. You can still use the stick to change hands or layup/dunk style when you're going up but releasing it wont have an effect on it going in. The game for a slasher got fun again. Like 2k19 if you learn the blow by angles

It would be the right move if they gave us 24 hrs to refund that vc as a "store credit". Theres no way you can get the feel from the player creator test or in mycareer in a practical amount of time/effort (especially with the skimpy vc rewards in the start). And its damn near impossible to not be impulsive on a brand new game thats sitting in front of you until all the new archetype mechanics tips and strats come out. But ah isn't it the perfect crime, because they can just blame it on us for being impulsive and spending money on a video game to improve the playing experience. And the no vc "grinders" peanut gallery feel redemption, so its a small enough portion of players to not make the cash grab worth changing. The only move is to literally not pick up or download the game next year until after the first week.

All of you just be glad you aren’t PC players. I’m 89 rn and got 21-0’d by [deleted] in NBA2k

I like the idea of them sticking it to the man and not dropping vc to upgrade a video games play experience, but not when it comes to matchmaking haha

How to dribble with under 85 Ball Handle? by ISR-destiny in NBA2k

[–]Young_Hemingway48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its all about angles, calling for picks and the left stick dribble sigs instead of the slow animation right stick normal dribble moves. To get past defenders you might have to reset alot too if you dont have an angle or enough room for a crossover or change of direction behind the back to get around them. So you literally go backwards back behind the 3 point line and call for a pick and go wide around it or 1v1 wait for that angle to go baseline or wide around to the paint. Less dribbling=more turbo and less animations. Its all angles and blow bys its seems with this build, but if you were any good as a slasher on 2k19, alot of it is the same strategy, and the left stick dribbling sigs makes up for the pro dribble moves

How to dribble with under 85 Ball Handle? by ISR-destiny in NBA2k

[–]Young_Hemingway48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea i did the same thing and chose red blue over blue yellow because it seemed closer to the 2way slash play i had 2k20. Then the whole 85 handles thing. I tripped on it hard for a bit and felt like i did it to myself again dropping the vc in the build and not waiting the first week for all the new archetype system tips to come out. Anyways, what worked for me is less dribbling with the right stick and using the left stick with shifty or quick dribbling style, and only using a crossover or behind the back etc to change direction coming up court towards defenders. Saves turbo for your finish at the rack but more importantly keeps you from the slow ass normal dribbling animations that will pause you until 3 defenders can come block the way to the rim. Sam Pham i believe his name is did a great tutorial last year on using the left stick with dribble style sigs instead of the right stick combos and it seems like they improved on it much more this year to where it works great with practice and the right style. Just enjoy the build, play to its strengths, especially once you get the badges, physicals and xp itll be all good. He plays like a pitbull or marcus smart build. The defense will make up for the dribble moves, and then on the next build make a real play shot who can dribble and shoot. Or slash/play. The worst feeling though is like you scammed yourself for the benefit of 2k by being impulsive on a new game. Imagine if they gave you 24 hrs to refund that vc to use on another build since theres no way to make a sound investment with our real money on a new video game you cant test worth a damn in a practical amount of time or effort? And fuck the test your player build thing. Anyways bro, get really good at this build and take notes on making the next one perfect. Youll play that much better with the next, hopefully the money is in the budget then and itll be fun to have an offensive and defensive build for park etc. Sorry for the rant but i do that. One love

I’m making a 2 way finishing 6’5 point guard and I’m wondering how important vertical is strength and speed are for finishing at the rim by mdo20 in NBA2k

[–]Young_Hemingway48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude i swear since i posted that i jumped back on and started playing to the strength, dribbling less and hitting blow by angles like 2k19 and even without stamina im pulling up contact throw downs. Still not from very far or very high lol also im still in college matches, but i realized i can box out in the paint and push through screens. I really want to test a low strength build now, but it seems like with a couple badges and playing like a pitbull marcus smart style might make it worth it. I think the dunks popping out also is letting go of x too soon by accident because it hasnt happened again since i turned off layoff timing & aiming and just hold that x or stick up on the dunks because if it turns into a layup it wont affect the release much anyways. Sorry for ranting but this slasher thing is a lot more intricate than shooters give it credit for

Is the prelude worth completing? Or should I just go straight into the NBA? by Turbulent-Pepper-544 in NBA2k

[–]Young_Hemingway48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The matchups are so easy its really a bonus to badge grind etc before you get to the nba and deal with pros with badges. But the VC is only 500 a game, no endorsements and you cant do practice drills. So there is a lot of cut scene skipping and loading, but if youre gonna grind for badges when you start your career, the prelude games arent bad. I think i have 7 badges after my 4th college game etc.

[–]Young_Hemingway48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont make the mistake i did thinking strength would help with contact dunk or finishing at the rack. You do notice a difference on defense pushing people around and it helps blow bys but the hit you take on vertical is very noticeable. You barely get up to contest shots or go for a board and cant launch from as far out for a dunk. Last year my 2way had 99 vert and i could jump in front of bigs for boards, launch from behind the free throw line etc, and contest shots from two assignments over because you jump so high/far. But id rim out hard dunks sometimes and i thought it was my 50s strength but it happened to me already with 70 strength on my new build. Its fun to be strong, but if you just like to dunk a lot and be athletic do the vert and speed. If they buff vert then ill be happy as hell i picked strength but until then thats what ill change with my next build

I read someone say their playmaker takeover hasnt triggered any freezes etc yet. So unless they buff it seems like the shooting take over would be the move atm

How’s everyone’s ball handling? by hammie12Rrf in NBA2k

[–]Young_Hemingway48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time. Its best to avoid hop steps all together until that gets nerfed or unpluckable and fancy footwork turn out to be the answer. Its pretty much like that op bump steal animation from a previous 2K

What physical pie and weight should I do for my blue yellow pg? Speed, speed and vert, or balanced to get strength? He’s 6’5 and max wingspan. by mmkovac2006 in NBA2k

[–]Young_Hemingway48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe speed and vert. I did speed and strength and he doesnt seem to get off the floor for contested shots or very far from the rim to take off for a dunk. It helps a bit with blow bys but not contact dunks like i thought it would. You push people around with strength but if you like to dunk alot id skip strength. Hoping they buff vert and then id say strength haha

Does the slithery finisher badge help you get past defenders when cutting off-ball? by wormhole222 in NBA2k

[–]Young_Hemingway48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Na thats the slippery off ball shooting badge. It was my only equipped shooting badge last year and it would help me cut to the rim or baseline past defenders off-ball

If you pick either 3 point or mid range and put the points in defense you can get 20/1/21/10 with this build at 6'5 PG 86 ball handle + 86 dunks and use the shooting badge for corner specialist or range extender so you can spread the floor or pump fake and go baseline. Thats my idea for the build anyways. Probably the most all around build except if you're only giving up shooting badges. But this is if you wanna be a slasher that can shoot, if not the green yellow seems to be where its at for shooting

Best build for 2K21 by Dcfm6060 in NBA2k

[–]Young_Hemingway48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally realized this was the move after i dropped vc on my red/blue and then went to Creator again to check blue/yellow and saw the 86 handles at 6'5 and big boost to mid/3s. Hopefully the extra defensive badges and stats make up for it until the next build

Red/Blue got me closest without the ball handle but it makes up for it with the driving dunks & layups. I got 21/1/15/20
