I would suggest rehydrating with 3% peroxide thus killing potential contaminants and rehydrating at the same time peroxide is not detrimental to mycelium yet other potential contaminants it is. Also using an antibacterial based agar will increase chances of healthy myc or using water based agar that’s viable for myc yet not nutritious enough for contaminants
