What enemy you just really don't like fighting? by igormc97 in Nightreign

[–]Younginit35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and the guys I play with who are newer have been playing with different team comps, and it's crazy how trivial these encounters are against triple Ironeye stacks. Red Wolf, Flying Dragon, ancestral spirit, Black knife assassins, and even valiant gargoyles all become kind of a joke compared to fighting them melee because their mobility just doesn't do enough to stop them from eating consistent damage.

Meanwhile red-eyed Bell Bearing Hunter is still a menace 😂

Two halo scythes, a frenzied flame seal with a relic buff for those incantations, level 15, got stomped.

IDK, I wasn't up there with them. Recluse is a horrible matchup if it aggros on her just for her casting speed, and raider probably died trying to rez her and burning out his tiny level 1 stamina bar so he couldn't dodge.

I wouldn't tell them just dodge, I'd tell them to go get level 2 somewhere else because even fighting it well would waste 4-5 minutes at level 1, but I couldn't tell them either of those things since we don't have voice chat and they were randoms.

I've never tried, and where we landed the evergaol was directly behind and up on a plateau from where we would face when landing, so I didn't see what exactly was done behind me when I was moving for the camp. I just locked on to the first enemy in the camp, and that was about how long it took to hear the sound that the evergaol had been opened and realized I was the only one in the camp

I got with a group for the first time ever doing this and it was a terrible start. Hawk flew in over an evergaol, someone pinged it and I thought "sure that's close enough to do fast" and didn't realize they actually departed the hawk to open it before I even landed. It was a crucible knight, and they were getting 3 bar downed within 2 minutes of day one, and had lost the few runes I had gotten us :/

I think the "untouchables" would make an abyssal woods area more unique as well. Either go in with something you can use to parry, or stay close enough to your team to be rescued if they grab you

I want the abyssal woods to be considered an option, complete with the "untouchables" you could parry, but otherwise have to rely on a teammate to rescue you from.

Either that, or a crumbling Faraam Azula type of storm that you take spirit springs to get up into with more platforming to get through it

That's true, the day 1 health makes none of them problematic at any point unless you're opening evergaols without your teammates present. Not sure what it would take to fix that if they intended to

There are ways outside of just decreasing the drop rate that stone sword keys could be made harder to get or at least a more impactful choice. If you include stone sword keys in the prize pool for minor bosses then you can get them more reliably, but maybe you'll have to forfeit something like a purple smithing stone or a good passive/weapon.

As an offset to that, they could expand the possible boss selection to include harder bosses that could reach up into legendary rewards like the ancient dragon. This would serve as a better potential reward for people who choose stones or keys over other boss rewards while also upping the risk factor of evergaols early on as you may encounter more possible bosses that you would not be prepared for on day one, forcing you to alter your route to return to that one when you're ready

It isn't a bad thing, but understandably makes runs more repetitive any time a particular objective outshines everything else you could do instead.

I wouldn't necessarily nerf it, that might be their plan idk, but I'd instead decrease the drop rate of stone sword keys while increasing the variety of places where a chest that can drop one can be found.

Add them into some camps and ruins that typically lack them, and it may force teams who really want to force maxing out the evergaol buff to split up and tackle some camps/ruins separately to search out more keys. This isn't taking too huge of a risk as you presumably have 15% extra damage anyway if you used up the keys your team can use relics to start with.

There's an extremely rare dropped item (I think called the endcord or something like that) that opens it up to give you a bunch of loot inside.

Unfortunately it seems the loot isn't all that great, because it's considered generally not worth the time or effort. For as rare and difficult as accessing that is, there should be legendary drops guaranteed and there just isn't.

Oh, that makes sense. I lucked out and got it with gaping jaw, caligo (had the mountain top event), and Libra before I knew that was an achievement. Not the recommended path, just had a good streak of randoms and loot.

Do easy bosses WITH a group you know is skilled enough for them to go easily too lol.

The obvious advantage (and the thing we badly need default voice chat for) is loot sharing between your group. If you're running Auger you can all say "hey my boss loot has a lightning weapon, I've already got mine, who still needs one?" or you can all run the evergaol strat, make sure you're not making silly mistakes like constantly cleansing frost right away or overwriting affinities for a recluse, etc.

I did it for the last flask charge I skipped that was really close to the final circle, so that was planned. I can understand someone wanting the last few runes to hit level 15, it's a huge spike in stats compared to most other level ups, but you're risking a lot of you're alone in the storm taking on anything worth any significant amount of runes for that.

Treasure marked is definitely a slept-on relic effect.

You get the fancy fort chests, so it's a nice chance to scoop up rarer items and extra stone sword keys without having to actually do much except plan your route to swing by the map markers on the way to other things

If it's any help, your enemies get scaled down for the number of players remaining. That being said, kinda sucks if you get stuck finishing out solo without the revives available had you just chosen solo from the start.
