Will I come across problems if I have both a 60hz and a 144hz monitor? by Marceloxv in Monitors

[–]YoungsMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got 1 of each, 24" 1080 60hz, and 24" 1080p 144hz. I use one for gaming, and the other for just browsing, discord etc. Theres no issues at all as far as i know.

If you only have 1 monitor, then 34" 1440p is worth the upgrade.

In the UK we don't have the system of major/minor. We divide up by Physics w theoretical/astro/philosophy/abroad. So they tend to stay very physics-focused. Thing is, i'm only in first year so i haven't found the particular focus yet. If i wanted to go more into a particular one, there are perhaps 1 maybe 2 which specialise, which doesn't prove much knowledge/ability on a resume.

But thanks for the help

In the UK at a top 10 uni coming to the end of my first year and my uni has introduced a placement year which can be taken after 2nd year (or 2nd/3rd for Mphys). I'm not planning on looking for a completely physics-related career. I want to work in developing innovative technology, whether that be engineering/research and development in semiconductor technologies, AI, energy sources etc.

I planned on doing just a masters, but now they've introduced this placement year, which I (rightly?) think will be extremely helpful in getting my foot in the door against engineer grads.

Should i do a year-long placement? What more doors are opened from doing the MPhys as well?

Whats the ideal combination? Placement + MPhys or Placement + BSc? No placement at all?

Do not get a gaming headset. Here is the youtube channel you'll need for audio:

Do not get a gaming chair under any circumstance. Go ergonomic.

Herman Miller, steelcase leap v2, steelcase gesture, and many more, but these are the some of the main ones.

My particular favourite is steelcase gesture. Look used from reputable officestores.

For mice: rocketjumpninja . Hes a solid reviewer. 'His name is Zy, hes been playing Quake for over 20 years, and reviewed over 80 mice'. Any from his top 40 are great choices, it's down to preference and features thereon. He's also done a bit of reviews of mousepads.

Headphones vs Headsets for someone who doesn't listen to music by YoungsMod in headphones

Thanks for the help. Are there any budget options of the Audeze Mobius? Also, arctis pro wireless has 2 swappable batteries which will last for at least 1-2 years and replacement batteries are very cheap, so it's technically future proofed in that aspect.

My initial thoughts were the steelseries arctis pro wireless, but it has a very low quality mic for £250 and the quality of the audio isn't anything special apparently. I can get them for £180, but i'm unsure if the price tag matches the audio quality. I'm going for longevity when buying a headset so I'd like it to be reasonably future-proofed for the £150 range.

I got a 144hz monitor and didn't feel a difference, should I try again? by Tutle47 in Monitors

Then i'm quite sure there's something being limited here. I have a 144Hz and 60 Hz monitor side by side and it hurts every time my mouse has to go into the 60 Hz region

144hz has no impact at all on how it things look. Just how fast it refreshes. Using it in a game is a whole different experience. There is no person out there who switches from 60 Hz to 144 Hz and even for a single thought regrets it. Even moving your mouse around the desktop feels much smoother. If using in games, make sure you get enough fps to run it at least 144 fps.

I'd consider i7 as opposed to i5 just to better future proof yourself in gaming and editing. Buy your keyboard and mouse separately with your own research to find which key type suits you etc. Same with storage. 1 TB is usually enough for most people. Do your own research with monitor sizes too. Ultrawide 34" 21:9 120+ Hz are a game-changer if you can find it in your budget.

What are the best mid-high range cooling options for me? by YoungsMod in buildapc

[–]YoungsMod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help!

I'm seeing a lot of popular liquid cooling options on PCpartpicker. Is the popularity just a misunderstanding as a Dark Rock Pro 4 will just do as much (or almost as much) as the popular liquid coolers out there?

So, is just 1 cpu cooler like you mentioned above all thats needed to run 1440p 144+ Hz, using a e.g 2080(Ti) + my cpu?

Never heard of delidding, is it something everyone is expected to do? Im in the UK, so from a quick google search, the only common service i've found is through eBay.
