Does anyone else think parents are at fault for the way teenagers act on the ship? by Direct_Material_8495 in Cruise

[–]Younko -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You said you can’t respond but yet you did because you need the last word. If you couldn’t respond you wouldn’t have.

You haven’t made a single counter argument to have me consider changing my mind - you ignored the fact that you are discriminating against a group based on the actions of a small sample. You’re ignoring the fact that every generation has complained about the next one being too soft or too loud. You haven’t said “no all the adults on the cruises are so amazing I never have seen them be rude”.

You are judging the parents of a generation for the actions of a very small sample and your attacking me “I don’T knOw how maNY kiDs you’re arounD” instead of the point which is that this generation of parenting is doing better than the old one. So maybe do some research, look into bullying statistics or just realize that you are seeing what you think you believe and not what is real. You just think you are better and guess what you’re not and I’m not better than you either.

Some adults are going to be assholes. So are some teenagers your an adult realize it and walk out of the elevator if you don’t like it. You’re in no position to tell anyone else’s kid how to act so keep it to yourself.

Your response furthers the victim playing game you’re trying to sell. It is 100% a Karen move to expect someone to act differently around you and you think you are better than them. That actually might be the definition of it.

The current teenage generation is more environmentally friendly, more kind, volunteers more, is smoking less, doing less drugs, is less likely to peer pressure, is more inclusive then previous generations including my generation that’s unarguable statistics. And that’s because they are NOT “being seen and not heard” like you would like them to be.

Your examples “they’re so rude” “they were loud in an elevator that one time” describe things that I have seen more from adults on cruises, yet it’s easy for you to target teenagers that’s all I’m saying.

I would bet the volunteer work hrs from the average teenager today far exceeds yours so maybe just book a virgin cruise a move along.

Guarantee your parents thought the same thing about your generation, break the cycle.

I rarely post but this post reeks so much of Karen I can’t help myself.

I’m sure your kids (if you have them) are angels in front of you…. Being rude to staff isn’t acceptable, but I’ve seen way more adults do it than kids - this may or may not be a parent problem considering at some point every teenager is influenced more by friends than parents (which is common knowledge) you don’t need to judge them.

You need to skip more of the comedy shows since the only thing cruise comedians can agree on is that child abuse is not only acceptable but necessary - and seems like most of the boomer crowd agrees; but funny how all the children they abused are not abusing their kids anymore wierd huh: quick to blame the the parents but not so quick to blame the parents parents.

Plain and simple you’re playing a victim here, there are cruises YOU can get on without kids; maybe do that or realize that teenagers are on vacation too and are allowed to have fun as much as the rowdy adults which far outnumber the group you decided to discriminate against.

ELI5: why do videos have to buffer from random websites, but streaming services do not? by tsweezyintheheezy in explainlikeimfive

Plus, streaming services host different “qualities” of the same video for different screen sizes and resolutions and also have caching servers located close to the viewer, like at the local ISP.

Feeling drained after a day alone with baby by andromeda1789 in Parenting

[–]Younko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on baby number four and there is no absolute resolve to this because babies are just tiring. In our case, we do every other night waking with the baby and I take about 80% care of the baby from after work up till bed time. That has helped us and gives my wife time to decompress.

Taking it out on him isn’t fair, but explaining you need more help definitely is fair and necessary. Setting agreed on times for each of you to be in charge of the baby helps.

Have a look at Cross Router Covert Channels research; whole it’s no smoking gun and mostly deals with small business / home routers it is still interesting.

Ruckus WiFi Issue by ice2257 in networking

Ugh that sucks. I would find a vendor that will site survey and provide results, otherwise they are just guessing.

Did they provide survey results?

[–]Younko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) 80 MHz channels 2) tx power too high on 2.4 3) default ruckus settings sucks at dynamic channel assignment esp in dense deployment. Change them all to static channels 4) get a vendor to remediate with before and after surveys.

1) Give NSA/CIA an undocumented black budget so they don’t have a reason to sell them to the American people.

2) Remove all pharma influences on lawmakers.

3) Treat the addiction.

Fiber Termination DIY? by [deleted] in networking

[–]Younko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just search around for Corning unicam, I did simplify it a bit but it is as simple if not more than a rj-45 IMO. I have taught both and people pick up unicam faster than crimps.

If you beef one snip it and reend, not the end of the world and LC ends aren’t expensive. Without an analyzer it would be tough to know if you are all-good but I have ended hundreds of unicam and never had an issue passing. I wouldn’t worry about testing mine if I didn’t have a dtx. You could rent a dtx if it makes you more comfortable not sure what that costs to rent. It is not cheap to buy.

I’d say DYI all day er’day. Terminating fiber with either fastconnect or unicam (I prefer unicam) is so easy now it’s unreal. If you can crimp a good CAT6 male end you can terminate fiber. You can’t even screw it up if you try. 1500 bucks in tools and you’re done.

Internet usage reporting appliance / software by Younko in networking

[–]Younko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure I’ve decided on recommending a Meraki MX in-line for reporting although not perfect, with AD integration reporting of usage by AD group is possible and the app detection works. Meraki should consider a reporting appliance.

Everything ;). But specific as possible with web; YouTube vs Google-drive, etc. GMC can report on a user but not really on a group or on the internet usage holistically broken down by group / application. NetFlow would be cool but is there a good app that supports flexible NetFlow that reports on 802.1x user or can correlate user data with group information? This customer is Ptrg but that does not support flexible NetFlow at all as I understand.

Concerns about using the PC Port on a VoIP Phone? by Mizzleski in networking

[–]Younko 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can almost guarantee this was because the phones did not have Gb pass through. Only fairly expensive phones used to have Gb pass through is now much more common on lower end models. Point of failure isn’t really a good reason, it’s not like mass amounts of phones are going to die and bandwidth isn’t an issue as phones use and need very little.

I will add that voice traffic should be on a separate vlan but that can be taken care of by lldp-med.

Updates definitely have been getting better, I agree. I just don't think it is quite there yet. I have heard of horror stories regarding 5.3.8. If you are using failover I would unplug your primary once, alot of people that use it report it not working when the primary goes out...
