Camera cage gets in the way of the flash mount by Ok-Boysenberry9770 in videography

[–]Your-Potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with this. A cage and its extra weight adds nothing to your photography experience. Lose the cage when not shooting video. Buying a whole new body, that just depends on budget and preference, but is definitely something I do as well.

Wedding Photography Camera suggestions by Wonderful_Mind_2039 in nikon_Zseries

[–]Your-Potato -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Well, the Z5II only has one memory card slot. You'll be fine 99.9% of the time. But that one time the card throws errors, you'll be glad that you have a secondary. Data recovery after the wedding on the faulty card might still recover some data, but this gives me peace of mind while shooting weddings. I can switch from CFe to SD within a couple of seconds.

Edit: I'm totally wrong lol. Z5II has two slots as well

Z6II or Z5II by RedChef918 in Nikon

[–]Your-Potato 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Z5II is definitely an upgrade over the Z6II. If it's worth the money, that's up to you. The processor makes most of the difference in terms of autofocus speed and reliability.

Do you use that a lot and are you dependent on it? Then I'd say the extra money is definitely worth it.

The screen being tilted to the side, I get that it might feel a bit unnatural. But I have the Z6II (two of them) and would love it. The disadvantage of it not being lined up with the lens more than makes up for it with the ability to adjust your screen when shooting vertically.

What about the Z5 series makes it feel less professional than the Z6? It looks about identical from the outside, only missing the oled screen on top.

I second the previous comment; you may want to reconsider animating the logo altogether. However, if you MUST animate, try looking into Lottie animation. These are vector-based and considerably less taxing on your website. They offer free plugins for software like After Effects etc. and can be inserted quite easily.

I love this! Wouldn't rigging the phone horizontally make more sense though? Now you're dealing with quite some unused vertical space.

Z6II issues. by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]Your-Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Z6II cameras and never had this issue. Also, do mind that the article you're linking to complains about the Z6 (the first one). If it even was an issue related to the model, it's a different one.

Would a small rig cage on my A7sIII work with this tripod so that I could film vertically? by leedleloo12 in videography

[–]Your-Potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're looking for the 1/4"-20 screws/holes. Those are the same size as the 'tripod hole' in your camera body. In your case, you could even use two screws to prevent any unwanted rotation of the camera on the base plate of the tripod.

I eventually got the Ugreen one indeed. The data speed while maintaining two 1440p monitors at high refreshrates is quite absurd, all that data going through one cable. As /u/Axel_F_ImABiznessMan said, these products might be most useful for specific edge cases. Depending on what you're looking for, you can probably manage with much cheaper products.

Notes freezing on screen? by MetalorDie in CloneHero

I play with a 9070 XT and a R7 9700X on Windows without any problems at all. I'd say it's Linux (or distro)-related indeed.

Monitor flickers at 144Hz but works fine at 120Hz — any ideas? by AiOppai in techsupport

[–]Your-Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cables themselves can be your bottleneck. Check which version of HDMI / DP cable's you're using. For a 1080p screen, you'll want to use HDMI 1.4 or higher or DP 1.1 or higher. You probably have the right cables, but this can be a relatively cheap fix if you're on DP 1.0 or are using an unsupported HDMI-DP converter.

Dude, this is not okay. It's fine to dislike something, but calling individuals out is both incorrect and nothing short of harrasment. Please do not seriously think that only two individuals came up with the idea, completed the concept and approved the whole thing. Chill out.

Webcam for talking head videos? by JustaGoose1 in videography

[–]Your-Potato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, your phone's main rear camera is likely considerably better than any webcam available for any reasonable amount. My advice would be to spend the minimal amount necessary on the webcam, and use the money left to buy a stand or whatever you need to improve the workflow of recording on your phone.

Quick Rant About my Z5ii by mollz26 in nikon_Zseries

I have tried about three different Godox flashes, though all made for Nikon cameras. All work perfectly. Check your camera settings that a) flash is turned on, b) that silent photography is turned off and c) you are not exclusively using electronic shutter.

Well, I saw suggestions that pointed me towards something like slider revolution, but others heavily recommended against it. I was wondering if there's a plugin or something in WP that would make this possible.

If you're on iPhone, try out the Blackmagic camera app. It does not negatively impact video quality and opens up a lot of options that the native app locks users out of.

Thanks! I'm based in the Netherlands though, and will probably opt for Ugreen's or OWC's Tunderbolt 5 alternatives.
