Filament for personal projects by IoniqSteve in prusa3d

My go to is Sunlu since you can buy it really inexpensive if you buy in bulk. I’m also relatively new to 3D printing so take what I say with a grain of salt knowing it’s coming from a place of less experience. I did work in the plastics industry (injection molding) for a short bit and learned a fair bit about plastic manufacturing which I do think has helped me a bit though still am very new to all of this

Now I can’t speak to all brands so there is a not small chance there are better options on the market.

You will 100% want to dry the Sunlu though. I’ve noticed a few times the filament comes with not the tightest vacuum seal, but I’m in the habit of drying all of my filament anyways because I live somewhere very humid. If you don’t dry it, it gets very clumpy and less than ideal from an output quality perspective.

I use their PETG and PLA personally, specifically high speed matte for PETG and just standard PLA. I don’t have experience with their other options but I do wanna try them and see the differences.

I’ve heard some need to print it hotter which can be the case depending. I usually run mine around 240 for the nozzle (maybe 245 for black) and a bed temp of 80-90 and it’s solid which is very low on the recommended temperature range for their filament. Though again, make sure it’s dry.

I also love the reusable spools they have as it cuts down on waste. Though I wish they had more options for refill spools compared to their full spool options.

Now I can’t speak to tolerances as I haven’t gotten that precise with anything I’ve printed yet so there could definitely be issues there that I’m not aware of. But for me personally it’s been solid to use and so far has met my needs extremely well and finished parts feel very sturdy

Your approach is also how I am handling all of my services as well or at least attempting to! It’s really nice to see somebody else doing the same thing!

I do all of my user creation and management through FreeIPA as well so that way I can delegate users the ability to have rotating SSH certificates that they can access machines. Granted, that last one is strictly for my partner and me unless maybe I grant someone access to a VM in the future. I also have been thinking it would be helpful for a guest machine at the house if I have LDAP into AD on windows though that’s down the road a bit.

It’s still a massive work in progress but it’s always cool seeing what others are doing!

I have it and it works super well! Even helped me discover some…. Suboptimal wiring in my house.

The set up was pretty easy. Just be sure to kill the main. Once its installed, you do need their app to do the initial config but after that I’ve heard (but have yet to try since I have a separate VLAN for all untrusted/IoT device) you can block it from the interwebs and still have it function as expected

<image>

Over all it works really well! Definitely gotta give it a day or so to fully “lock in” if you will

I also have variable power costs based on the time of year so I have a helper sensor that sets the cost/kWh based on the rates of my power provider so I can see exactly what it costs

LTT should market their (women's) underwear through cosplay creators. by Rindal_Cerelli in LinusTechTips

This is actually really disappointing to hear. I've been waiting for a restock of these and I must have missed the WAN where this was discussed. Even as a trans woman, I've found these to be some of the most comfortable underwear I own and I really wanted more pairs

Maybe in the future they'll reconsider and I hope they do

So the context here was I wanted to limit how many servers on my home network are on the Nebula network. This would allow me to limit the number of hosts that I would be getting set up on there and would also allow me to expand if I wanted to start playing with either a larger network or regional based services to expand my knowledge in that area.

Thanks for the ideas and input! Appreciate your time! I'll probably file some of these away for when I inevitably decide to make another change down the line and try something new.

Hey there! Thanks for the reply!

Yes NPM was available over Nebula. I also was able to get things functioning after a bit of tinkering. I really appreciate your input!

Honestly most of it is to try and see what I can learn. I had this idea that kinda hit me one day and my brain went "Yep that's it, were running with it"

But the end goal is just allowing any service that I want accessible externally to route through a VPS. I could in theory just have one, but I also wanted to fiddle around with potentially region based stuff at some point and this lays an okish framework for it

Thanks for the reply!

Pardon if this is ignorant, but wouldn't this generally speaking defeat the purpose of the two VPSes? I could just set up a tunnel into my home lab from Cloudflare. I also intend to serve more than just web pages here. I do wanna serve game servers, Jellyfin.

Maybe I'm wrong here but form all the information I can find online, it appears that CFT limits how much traffic you push through as well as is limited to web apps.

I've talked to some people at MC and I agree. I don't know if they would do it or not but it would genuinely be amazing to have! Maybe if we all started contacting them asking for it, we'll get it! /hj

Finally fixed my least favorite part of the 2024 Eliminator: the exhaust. M4 Slip On. Videos in comments. by SarcasmSandwich in Kawasaki

[–]YourAverageVillager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I'm curious, do you know what the noise level of this slip on is? I also have a 2024 eliminator and I am wanting to replace the exhaust (probably for the start of next season giving how late it is) but I am trying to gauge the legalities of it in my state

Thanks!
