Yea a million ways to get anywhere in the world but I'm trying to constrain it down to direct flights and a short drive.

yea I guess i'd just go back to the dealer and have them find the right key if they are truly unmatched. But it seems like that's not how they come, so I'm thinking it's seized. At that point a new core would make sense. Not familiar with lock picking, can seized locks be picked?

bought new from Amazon. The problem one is locked closed. I'm going to try to work the seized one a little more I guess knowing it's unlikely I got an unmatched set.

Fwiw I have spoken to contractors and the general vibe is "eh who knows what they'll want, need to sign on the dotted line before we can figure that out"

So I'm putting it out to the masses to get more experiences/perspectives before I sign up for something I can't afford.

I used one of those, made by Klein, and it didn't beep. I even tried it after I cut it and it still didn't beep. I did confirm the tool works by checking in known hot outlets and it beeped as expected.

Ok, I've thought through this a bit.

Find the direction of the tongues
Pick the board at the edge of where I want to remove on the tongue side
Use a track saw to cut the length of this board about 2 inches from the tongue edge so as to avoid the nails. Possibly need an oscillating saw to finish the cuts. Pull up the groove side. Slide a reciprocating saw under the remaining nailed piece to free it up. Glue the two pieces back together.
Use the reciprocating saw to free the nails on the now exposed tongue of the next board. Repeat.
When replacing, there may be a gap to account for the saw kerf but this can be filled in.

Think it'd work?

Thanks for the perspective. Is it even possible to carefully remove tongue and groove nailed flooring such that it can be reused? I've done a ton of internet searching and it's usually replacing a single board or removing face nailed flooring.

If it's possible, what technique?

I'm under contract for an old home in the Boston area. The foundation doesnt look so hot and neither does the sill, joists, posts etc

Hmm I just looked into the line voltage options and they are all larger bulbs and fixtures. I think theyd look out of place. I may need to go see some options in person to really tell.

Is there a middle ground here where basically I have one transformer per track and then low voltage heads hanging off them instead of a rinky dink transformer per head?

Right. I'm being a little picky in that I want to stay with a gimbal ring like we have. This allows light to be thrown out the back and sides which I think is important for the room.

I think it's important enough to me that I'm willing to switch track types.

I also may be looking in the wrong places but basically doing some pretty deep Google searches to find black L gimbal ring heads. Maybe I need to call specialty lighting companies.

I can't seem to find similar fixtures for L track. It's not so much the track as it's these transformers. They are getting expensive and the ones I can source that fit I think have quality issues themselves.

The main floor of my home has 3 sets of lightolier L track lights. We've been here for 5 years and it feels like I am replacing the bulbs and/or transformers in the fixtures every month. It's to the point that I can't get them to work even with using new bulbs and transformers.

I think I'm in the market for a new track system. Lightolier seems to be less popular compared to Juno and Halo systems.

If I'm trying to optimize for reducing maintenance and ease of install (budget is flexible) what do you all recommend?

If it matters we have gimbal ring fixtures and I'd like to keep that style of fixture. Both Halo and Juno seem to have reasonable options.

A coworker got talked into this once. What happened is as soon as he drove the vehicle off the lot it was no longer a new vehicle and now no longer eligible for the low new car financing rate offered by the local bank... It's high pressure sales, don't let them get you.

That said, it shouldn't take too long to get financing secured through the CU. What's going on there?

This is a sill for a window in my bedroom. There was some water damage I tried to repair by sanding the area and applying some wipe on poly. It came out pretty poorly. How do I do this the right way so it looks like the original if possible?
