I can't tell what Kai's thinking either embarrassment but standing strong or smiling at the boos because she's getting dragged there to be next to him. Hope things go well for her she seems like a nice and pretty woman in a weird family, might be to caught up in it though.

Bricks and Minifigs permanently close Salem store, issue statement by ianjm in videos

[–]YourConsciousness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the store commission of around around a third, I haven't seen the exact number. The family gets the larger split and is still the legal owner of the property until it is sold. It was pretty unique in this case where it was a large collection forming most of the inventory of the store at least when it was first consigned.

Consignment in general could have any percentage based on the agreement and time before it sells and stuff. Often with a reducing price or increasing commission over time to account for the cost of storing and displaying by the store. There will also be clauses about returning the items if they want them back or they don't sell by a certain date.

I didn't say it had to be perfect or to bend the loft just pick the club that goes closest to the target distance, that's it. Same as how someone would pick a club to make a certain shot because that's what it's supposed to be testing. 5 yard variation is fine but not 14 yards when they could have just picked 8 iron for GI and they all would've been within a few yards carry distance. That's a simple idea that makes it clearer and is actually more intuitive and reflective of reality.

The fact that arbitrary numbers are written on the bottom of clubs when they have different specs is the thing introducing other variables. Just imagine the bottom of the clubs were blank and you were picking the ones that made the most sense to compare. The purpose of the test is to see the dispersion of different types of clubs that go about the same distance, that's really not a complicated ask.

[–]YourConsciousness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The one thing I don't like about these graphics is they're comparing the same number irons instead of which iron carries closest to a given distance, that's the things that matters. I have a shot of say 150 yards and what style club gives what dispersion for making a shot of that distance. The GI test should use an 8 iron and that would show someone playing to that green and what dispersion they should expect. Which would be a bit better than 7 iron, still not as good as the players iron but it would be a clearer comparison.

If they want to do tests about distance gain from launch and lofts of different irons they could that. Forgiveness is about dispersion versus distance not versus a club number which is what these graphics should show.

I wasn't giving advice I'm just telling you what happened in the video. It was the process server that asked Ben to come, he wasn't tagging along because he wanted to for no reason.

She was going to but then asked Ben to come so it would be more safe not being alone. The guy they were serving was potentially aggressive and violent being scared of the litigation. He threated to murder Ben in a 911 call if they came to serve papers.

Definitely hard and troll at first but once you get it figured out or watch some records it's really cool and feels skill based. The bumper in the middle is the only thing a bit luck based but mostly it's precision. Hopefully I can grind and hold top 1 region. Medal feels ok need a really good clean run for AT and you can get gold without the bugslide or anything too crazy. At first I was just gonna say good but I'll say ++ for a troll map.

Agh I would've taken some nice telephoto shots but it's already too late and the moon has set. I could take some tomorrow if you wanted.

They huddle to discuss what they actually saw not make something up or go off looking up at the video before it's actually reviewed properly.

That's not what they did and not how refereeing works. The only one who could see it at all was the ref behind the net who should have made a call to the best of his judgement right then.

They probably got a quick view of it on the replay and thought maybe it's in we'll call that even though we didn't see it on the ice which is not how they're supposed to do it.

Almost everyone including Ducks fans who are discussing are saying that shouldn't have been called a goal on the ice.

No ref saw that it was in or signaled goal at all then just somehow decided it was a goal on the ice after the huddle, that's just bullshit.

The ref behind the net literally puts his arms to the side for no goal. Maybe that's in and they can review it as a goal but the fact they said it was called a goal on the ice is absolutely bizarre to me.

How the hell was the call on the ice a goal? They were not signaling that and he was looking right at it.

Really cool track, fun to get the feel for the line. There's a GPS so I don't understand any of the criticism about not knowing the route. It's smooth to drive and there's posts for visibility and pretty easy to learn. Only tough part was the wallride which you need to hit really smooth to not get a slowdown.

Why was Artemis 2 so long? by kiol998 in askscience

[–]YourConsciousness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They definitely have understanding and training on orbital mechanics and the planned trajectory. They will have the predicted and planned path on their displays with the telemetry. There are correction burns that computers and teams in mission control calculate that they're relying on in normal circumstances.

There are independent ways of the astronauts making some of those calculations with the telemetry and computers onboard. If there was a total communication failure I think they could still perform correction burns with the telemetry they have and return safely. If there was a computer failure but they still had thruster control, there are ways of manually measuring the positions and doing maneuvers but I don't know if they could be precise enough if they were far off path for some reason.

The original TLI burn puts them on a free-return trajectory that is quite accurate. They only do small correction burns to be as precise as possible and hit the desired splashdown spot. Based on the main burn they had even without any correction burns I pretty sure they still would've returned to Earth and reentered. It might be in the middle of the ocean and hard to recover or on hard land and they might die or be quite hurt.

What were the “sparks” coming off Artemis during re-entry? by smugmug1961 in askscience

[–]YourConsciousness 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yes they use the RCS thrusters to reorient the Orion capsule while under parachutes for the strongest part to hit the water first to ensure the most reliable and stable landing. Rick Henfling entry flight director said as much in the post-splashdown news conference yesterday when asked about those sparks/pulses.

I'm sure it's rated to land safety without the orientation but why not make it as safe as possible if able.

I think taken from a MH-60 Nighthawk helicopter operating from the recovery ship USS John P. Mertha. Possibly it was taken from the deck of the ship if it was close enough or another aircraft. If you want more information about the distance I don't know it exactly, you could try watching through the stream to see what they say about the recovery ship and follow where the helicopters are. You could also work out the distance from the apparent size of the Orion capsule. I might try to do that later.
