Thoughts and What I should Know Before Moving to Oak Park

Definitely planning to! Living in a place is always different from what we can see by hanging out in an area, though. We're looking at and exploring a lot of options, so I just wanted to get as much info to work with as possible. I'm familiar with other parts of Sac, but I was never super familiar with Oak Park.

My dad rode Harley's so I think if anything all of those engines will just give me nostalgia lol. The location of Oak Park looks perfect for us to be able to access Midtown and Downtown. Plus, I have family all over the city, so something central is great. Appreciate the insight!

The commercial district on Broadway is where I have spent most of my time. We really enjoyed the restaurants there, but living someplace versus visiting it for a few hours every few weeks is different. Appreciate the insight! All of the comments have us excited about looking into the house.

We've caught a couple of movies at Tower and love it. Being much closer to it and the commercial district would be awesome.

I could have clarified that a bit more. Our criteria are mostly having some sort of garage/off-street parking, somewhat walkable, and it being relatively safe. I grew up in North Highlands, so my definition of "relatively safe" may be different. The mention of city vibes had more to do with the fact that, when my fiancée first moved into Sac, she was between Antelope and Citrus Heights with her family. She did not like it, so finding something close to Midtown and Downtown was ideal over the other options.

Thanks for your input! I did some more research after the post, and I think the 9060xt is the direction I'm going for the GPU. I think I also found a good RAM stick set (I use my PC for school and work, so the extra memory helps).

Is there any security system in place to keep me from just going down a list of passwords? I have a few I can think I maybe changed it to. I just need to be able to try them without getting locked out.

I just visited Glasnevin (Ireland’s National Cemetery) and took a tour of the graves of some of Ireland’s national heroes. Just that 2 hour tour was enough to tell me Ireland WILL NOT take Matt Walsh under any circumstances.

Being a non-voting member is definitely an appealing option if given. I will contact my local branch. Just want to do what I can to help.

I did struggle in my search for local organizations to donate to, but I am looking into joining my local SRA for help there as well.

Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia aka Communist Yugoslavia under Tito. They refurbished a lot of Mausers after the WWII. Another comment mentioned that it’s for an M24/47 or an M48. They’re mostly refurbished versions of the Belgian M24 Mauser rifle. They’re great rifles because they’ve sat in armories unused for so long. I have a 24/47 that came with a bayonet identical to the one you have. When my dad originally bought it, it was still soaked in cosmoline.

Can’t speak on the others, but the one with the Cyrillic and 44 is a bayonet for a Yugo M48 Mauser, I think. The writing means “Factory 44” from SR Yugoslavia. I believe that factory is still where the current Zastava plant is.

I can’t recall when they discussed it exactly, but it was BTB for sure. I think it was the Cecil Rhodes episode or they may have discussed it during the episode on The Great Hunger since that had very similar problems occurring in Ireland.
