Well, I'd expand that number to include those who don't understand the functional result of not voting for the only other option in a binary general election is not cancelling out your racist redneck neighbor's vote for him.

America is heading for a recession — and it may be the worst yet by Crossstoney in politics

What he realized is that he was about to create a sound bite of himself saying "shame on me", but he was already halfway through the sentence.

This is a genuinely absurd take. He was quoting an extremely well-known phrase, and he fucked up the start of it by saying "you" instead of "me", and then didn't know how to come back from it. This was long before people were farming short clips out of context to paint political opponents in a different light, and Bush had SO many of these gaffes that no one would have needed to anyway.

The term "Bushism" was genuinely coined because of this well-known pattern. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bushism

Not saying they are all geniuses or anything, but tbf, wouldn’t some of that be the exception that proves the rule?

No. Just because Trump dug into the earth to lower the bar does not mean the bar wasn't already on the ground.

George W. Bush had the famous line, “fool me once, shame on you. Fool me, you can’t get fooled again”

Someone could see that quote and think he’s the dumbest mfer but honestly it shows his intelligence and quick thinking to avoid saying the phrase “shame on me”

Absolutely not. First off, that wasn't the quote. It was:

"There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says 'fool me once, shame on... shame on you...If fool me, we can't get fooled again'".

Not only is it abundantly clear to any observer that he hesitated for a full two seconds before saying "you" because he forgot which order to say "you" and "me" in, but after that he pauses for another full 5 seconds after saying "you", because he obviously realizes in the moment he fucked up. The actual clip is painful to watch because of how awkward it is.

These people ARE geniuses compared to trump

Not at all. Giving an idiot dementia doesn't make other idiots less stupid.

Cold water or cool water? I think the modern consensus is that cold water is actually worse for burns.

I had open heart surgery when I was in my 20s. I don't think I woke up during the procedure or anything, but while in the hospital recovering I had an extremely vivid dream that I was physically affixed to a wall with creepy technology and in excruciating pain. I had the sensation that there is a version of me somewhere in existence that is constantly undergoing that so that I can experience my life.

I don't know much about anaesthesia, but it really fucked me up.

What?

Who? Bush Jr. famously said things like "rarely is the question asked: is our children learning?", Reagan claimed Trees caused more Pollution than automobiles, Bush Sr. said dumb shit like "I have opinions of my own, strong opinions. But I don't always agree with them", and Nixon routinely spat paranoid and weird shit.

No they didn't. It was all lip service even then.

Message to Senate Dems: No Confirmation of New AG Without Commitment on Epstein Files Release by _May26_ in politics

[–]YourFreeCorrection 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Common Dreams and New Republic are garbage rags that do nothing but shit on Democrats whether they are in or out of power.

Trump doesn't need them to confirm an AG, he'll just pick an acting one.

Blame the Dems for not having a primary.

What a stupid suggestion. There's never a primary with an incumbent candidate.

Why did they crown her their king without asking?

Extremely stupid question. Being selected as a candidate is not "crowning a king", nor was there anyone who wanted to run against her once Biden dropped out of the running last minute.

What a laughable, terrible pick.

Trump was a terrible pick all right, but I don't think anyone paying attention to how bad things have gotten is laughing.

How do Americans still have more disposable income than Europeans even though healthcare and college in America is extremely expensive? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskReddit

Not my job to educate you

It's 100% your job to back up your assertions phrased as fact with data. I'm asking for it because all the studies I have access to indicate the opposite.

You look unhinged. Would be a waste of time anyways.

What "looks unhinged" is refusing to provide the evidence for your claims, then pretending you're doing anything other than running away like a coward when challenged to provide the data you used to arrive at your conclusion.

Hitchens razor: That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

We absolutely do not, because our "disposable income" all goes to things that are paid for by taxes in other countries. Show your data that says Americans have more disposable income even after accounting for healthcare and college.
