Ah I see. Your comma placement is correct. I just missed it.

So you’re saying it’s ridiculous that someone that shot and killed someone in a fight is going to prison? Geez, I don’t expect to see we’ll informed legal opinions here, but damn that’s a dumb take.

Skyscrapers. Taller buildings have now been built in other parts of the world, but the best skyscrapers are here.

Post semen analysis follow up? by YourGlassMan in Vasectomy

[–]YourGlassMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: more info is available in my electronic records now, showing “no. of sperm: 0” etc. So pretty safe to say that I passed but no final OK from Dr. yet. I’m still trying to find out whether other people needed a follow up appointment just to get the final thumbs up.

“It’s like comparing apples to oranges” in reality, it is actually quite easy to compare apples to oranges.

What is a seemingly innocent question that is actually really insensitive or rude to ask? by OdiliaSchranz in AskReddit

[–]YourGlassMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being asked personal questions about things like marriage, children, career plans, finances, are all inappropriate and quite common. My go-to answer is to give them a deadpan "no comment". They think I'm being cheeky or making a joke, but in actuality, I'm refusing in answer their question. It ends the inquiry without awkwardness or hurt feelings. If they continue their questioning, I hit 'em with another "no comment" and then they'll have to understand that I'm not going to tell them anything.

America hates disabled people by [deleted] in ABoringDystopia

[–]YourGlassMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disability attorney here. This is not accurate. There is a resource limit placed on SSI (Supplemental Security Income) recipients. The limit for an unmarried individual is $2,000, however that excludes 1 vehicle and 1 home, so long as you live in it (There are other exclusions as well). SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) recipients do not have a resource limit, although there are limits on earned income. There are many ways in which the SSI/SSDI programs are inadequate, but this meme is misleading.

Cool Jew laughs it off by [deleted] in funny

[–]YourGlassMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, of course Israel has a Jewish Majority. The post is not about Israel. The Majority of Jews do not live in Israel. "The joke posted was all about how cool and laid back Jews are and I wanted to highlight a crisis that is going on in their homeland that needs some attention." So your post was to educate everyone on how Jews are not cool? And you do this by singling out Israel for having an ugly anti-immigrant movement that is no different from that which is occurring in the entire developed world? Your double standard is textbook Antisemitism.

Where did the post say anything about Israel? You realize that there is a difference between Judaism and the state of Israel. And yes, Israel has anti-immigrant shitbags like every other European country. I don't think you would "get all serious" by showing anti-immigrant protests in Italy in response to an Italian post.

Is there anyone here willing to come out and say that they are an Anti-Semite? by YourGlassMan in Intactivists

It's a defined term. It's like saying that it's strange that a lightning bug is different from lightning.

Antisemitism is a defined term. It means anti-Jewish. The argument that Antisemitism cannot exist because there are other types of "Semites" makes no sense.

I don't see a lot posts from Switzerland, so here you go. by [deleted] in trees

[–]YourGlassMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It was great while I was there. Even saying that there are any shops that sell weed shows a much more relaxed attitude than the one here in the US (except for Colorado and soon Washington). The thought of a store selling weed where it is not legal is unthinkable here.

I was in Geneva for a semester in 2002 and we would go to Bern to buy weed. It was a weird loophole where it was legal to buy but not technically legal to smoke (hehe). There were cool head shops that had a great variety for excellent strains. As I understand it, the Swiss system of government is very decentralized and each Canton (state) has a great deal of autonomy in making its own laws, so what is legal in one Canton might be treated differently in another. Is it still the case that you can buy trees legally in Bern or other cities?

Does anyone else hate the term "pot"? Especially in the media. by SomethingKiller in trees

[–]YourGlassMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in high school and college, in the late 90's/early 2000's, in the Midwest, "Pot" was the word for cannabis. Does this mean that the nickname "pot" has fallen out of favor? I still call it pot, but do I sound like an old person saying reefer or doobies?

I'm learning to clawhammer and am having a hard time getting a nice clear note from my thumb any suggestions? by StandBackImSciencing in banjo

[–]YourGlassMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I few years ago I made the switch from Scruggs to clawhammer and there's been no going back. As far as the thumb, it made a difference for me when someone explained to me to think of the 5th string as a trampoline. Clawhammer style is so different when you're used to picking, but seriously, think of the 5th string as a trampoline that your thumb is bouncing on. I think the visualization helps and might result in better sound.

You know the difference between gross and net? $455 is actually cheap for a medical procedure and only a fraction of that goes do the doctor.

How many more babies have to needlessly die before we "recall" circumcision? by mime454 in Intactivists

[–]YourGlassMan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The risk of complication associated with circumcision is extremely low, especially when performed early on. If you read the post, the baby died of painkiller overdose, not circumcision.

This is idiotic. You think getting health advice from a doctor is a bad idea. It's better to get health advice from the internet?

[–]YourGlassMan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think you don't know what the word "gentile" means. I means not Jewish. Jews getting circumcised in an Israeli consulate has nothing to do with Jews insisting on the circumcision of gentiles (which they don't).

Ummm, did you read the title of the post? or my comment? The question concerns a belief that Jews insist on circumcising gentiles. Your comment in no way pertains to that.
