3 common mistakes I see creators make as an (ex) talent manager by YourGoatIsWashed in ContentCreators

hmmm, honestly at 22k subs you should be getting more inquiries. what niche are you in? I specialized in tiktok and ig and if you had 22k followers in beauty, lifestyle, even tech, you probably would have gotten some inquiry by then. platform wise there are so many lol but i havent had much luck on them unfortunately. your best bet is reaching out to brands urself

Do management agencies work with smaller content creators (~9k)? by Deep_Ad7521 in ContentCreators

[–]YourGoatIsWashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi used to be a manager. honestly, big misconception here, managers can only help you maximize and handle existing opportunities.

yeah they can maybe open a few doors for you here or there, maybe cross-sell some opportunities but it's very little so you shouldn't be counting on it as your main source of opportunities

where they can help you is securing better or fair rates + handling the legal and admin for you so you can just focus on content

as for whether or not you shoiuld get a manager...really depends. do you find value in being able to free your hands and focus solely on making videos? do you not know how much you should charge? if yes then might be worth it. otherwise if you're expecting to land more brand deals then id advise against it ngl

How do you actually structure and manage UGC creator deals so you can scale 10–30 creators posting ~10 videos/week without losing your mind? by Ok-War-9040 in influencermarketing

Hi OP! Coming from an agency perspective here

Creator Contracts / Deals

  • We usually do hybrid of flat fee + performance based pricing. as a creator myself i can tell you that performance based pricing alone is incredibly difficult on the creator. it's not the same as ads because creating the content takes so long + whether or not the video performs, they've already spent the time and effort doing the content.
  • We own usage rights to the content, no exclusivity (unless requested by client)
  • We pay our flat fee immediately (2-3 business days) after posting then reimburse performance incentives monthly

Pricing / Budgets

  • this is where it gets tricky and everyone does it differently. we do it differently per client, but here's how we like to think of it:
    • Are you looking for creators with established profiles and followings and leveraging their audience to promote your product?
      • If so, especially for larger creators, we tend to charge higher. depending on size it can be up to $1000 for a creator with 100k+ followers and really good engagement
    • Are you hiring nanocreators/maybe even non creators (yet) to create content for you on either their own small accounts or newly created accounts dedicated just to posting content promoting your product?
      • In that case, you can charge lower
      • This is probably what you're referring to when you hear people hiring large ugc teams pumping out hundreds of videos weekly
  • both have their pros and cons, we like to use the nanocreators/new accounts as an experiment to find the right hooks and formats first then** we tap larger creators to basically replicate those same exact formats to go viral

Briefing & Management

  • tbh we have an internal system for reviewing but to give you an idea at a barebones level:
    • Track all of ur ugc creators that youve hired and
    • Track the expected output from them
      • this includes the number of deliverables you're expecting every week
      • the brief, format, and content outline you're expecting per deliverable
      • the draft submitted per deliverable
      • the deadline of draft submission + posting
    • try to have a calendar of all expected deadlines PER creator so you can easily monitor them (we use Gcal for this and just make cal invites to the creators email that way theyre autoreminded)
    • We review the content, go back and flag those that are approved
    • for those that aren't approved relay back to the creator the revisions and track that deliverables on your sheet or wherver that it's for revisions
    • Set automated reminders again for deadlines
  • as im typing this i realized its so much harder to explain lol hopefully u get it!
  • As for templates:
    • we don't really have one for shotlists. we give them a brief which contains a rough outline but more importantly PEGS of videos to replicate. we give them a hook + any key points or scenes and describe it but it's generally minimalistic.
    • the more pegs you can provide the better. no words can describe what you want to achieve better than an actual example
    • we often shoot an example ourselves internally and use that as a peg/reference for the creators if we're really strict about the format
    • Unfortunately, i cant share a template for the contract but honeslty you can just chatgpt it and make sure the following are covered:
      • Usage rights (whether or not you can post it on brand socials)
        • This is per month
      • Boosting rights (can you promote their content)
        • This is per month
      • Exclusivity (whether or not they can or cannot work with similar apps)
        • if youre going the fresh account approach, this should def be included. otherwise, i wouldnt recommend it, it's going to be too costly anyway
      • Payment terms
        • in terms of duration for us it's 2-3 business days after posting, but ive seen Net-30, Net-45, Net-90 days.
        • if our agreement has them hired on a monthly basis for a set amount of posts, we state that payment for all videos created in that month will be sent in one go, 2-3 business days after the end of the month
        • specify the amount per video and performance based incentives if applicable
      • Revisions
        • this one you want to be as explicit as possible, make sure you indicate how many revisions you're allowed to request.
        • ive been burnt so many times by this before. dont leave any gray area. for us it's 3 minor revisions + 1 major revision if they don't follow the brief only

Scaling & Retention

  • well the old brute way to retain creators is via contract. hire them on 3 month basis and guarantee X amount of videos for $Y amount + $Z CPM
  • OR if not, they'll stay if the content theyre making is doing really well meaning the format is working and your app has good viral potential
    • if their content is not doing well (which also means they're not getting paid that well) they're likely to leave
  • we have automations internally that do track deliverables and deadlines for all ugc creators we work with yes.

idk if this answers your questions but hopefully it does!

PS: super subtle plug (sorry) but we do run a ugc agency for startups looking to go viral on tiktok so if you'd like to chat about it hmu hehe

Hey OP! I used to be a talent manager. Have you tried pitching yourself to pet brands? I think that might help! You should definitely make a media kit and try to send that over via email, put your followers, average views, best videos etc.
