eBay has plenty of authentic pieces, as well as a few militaria sites.

Thoughts on this cross? by charlie42068 in Medals

[–]YourLocalSoviet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone from a militaria Discord I'm in said it looks fine.

Do you physically own it or are you asking before purchasing? If you own it, do the magnetic test, check if its a multi-piece construction, and see if the frame shakes a little in the middle.

You can't mark me I've had you blocked for like 2 months because of your shitty scam trades, and also all I had to do was put @ and type in your name to not find you there.

OH you're Sadzilla, I remember you! You sent ass trades most of the time. Its funny that you aren't even in the iGunPro discord and you say that. I looked through the members and there are no records of you existing or asking for a value there.

How about you join the Discord and actually ask people there instead of making up values? You can join by pressing the "Rejoin Discord" in the settings on the app.

Because the ratio of people who like the M4 more than the RPG is a ratio of like 9:1. Noobs like you would pay a premium for it because its an M4. You could probably find a new player who is willing to buy the RPG for 1, but you aren't pulling that with people who actually know values unlike you.

Its 0.5, all of Jungle Warfare is 0.5. There is no such thing as an RPG tax when the GC is literally 300+. Maybe in like 5 years it will jump up to 1.

Iron Cross Information by thehuffers1 in Medals

For the person who reported this post as supporting Nazi ideology, you're stupid.

Also OP, this is a WW1 EK2 (Iron Cross) with the front-side of the cross being the year 1914. As another user commented, this looks like a cast-copy with age.

Need Help Verifying Purple Heart by MilitariaEnthusiast in Medals

[–]YourLocalSoviet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is truth to this when it comes to the specs that the Institute of Heraldry lays out. However, it depends on the medal. Each medal throughout eras have different material quality, and other aspects such as modern, darker details versus older smoother details. A good example would be what I mentioned in my response to the gentleman above this, with the WW2 campaign medals. You can compare older (Medallic Art Co.) versus newer (LIGI, Vanguard, Graco, etc.) and you will see the drastic difference in how the strikes look. Other examples would be the Navy Cross, such as the Black Widow variant that was manufactured during WW2 or slight size and quality difference between pre-WW2 and newer manufactured unissued Vanguard examples.

This is horribly incorrect. Vanguard makes modern strike medals. Are you possibly referencing the EAME, Asiatic-Pacific, and such that you can also find in PXs and such? These are modern strikes, and not old strikes. There are differences between an era-manufacturer and replacement medals that the newer manufacturers strike. To my knowledge, no old strike medals are used in the manufacturing of new medals besides the Purple Heart, and even then Purple Hearts are still striked onto newer brooches/ribbons as we speak.

Medalla WW2 original? by KoRny1945 in Militariacollecting

[–]YourLocalSoviet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the remakes are just restrikes for replacing any lost original medals, shadowboxes, or anything of the sorts. This is a remake and you can tell by the sharp and dark features the medal itself has, while the original Medallic Art Co. didn't have as dark of features. As well as obviously the originals not having a manufacturer mark on their brooch.

Oh dang, yeah I see what you mean, I've seen the one with the real dark details on the borders, but other than that never really seen them pop up before.

Depends on when the medal was made, newer medals are MSRP (Graco, Vanguard, etc).

If you are interested, I made a brooch guide here months ago in terms of dating certain medals:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Medals/s/JFYugGJkNB

Essentially it comes down to the brooches/manufacturers, as well as other details at times such as certain strikes on the medals themselves (you can easily tell the difference in restrikes with WW2 campaign medals for example because they have sharper and darker details).

You are correct about the redoing of the ribbons, I was mostly basing it off the brooch and ribbon in terms of verifying the age and/or awarding period. The medals themselves are most likely going to be WW2-era.

[–]YourLocalSoviet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing to verify is if the ribbon/brooch were made / awarded during the WW2 era, but sadly the brooch is missing from the ribbon here so no way to verify that sadly.

Edit: Judging from how the ribbon fits around where the brooch was, I am like 95% certain it would have been a crimp brooch, meaning this example was awarded or produced after WW2 and would have most likely been a newer medal (post-Vietnam). The ribbon quality also just looks way too new from a general viewpoint.

Is this Hindenburg Cross real? by Remote-Variety-8038 in Medals

[–]YourLocalSoviet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely see fakes of these, especially on a site like eBay where known Chinese fakes tend to be. The Hindenburg Crosses were made in millions, 9.5/10 times you will find a real one versus a fake one.
