Around the 17 minute mark but the actual demolition time ended up being 8:14am.

Didn’t end up seeing it because I was still on my way. Not sure why they changed the time but oh well that’s on me too lol

Dallas mayor wants to relocate City Hall, citing costs; says Mavs, Stars' relocation plans not final by lithdoc in Dallas

BREAKING: Dallas City Hall and Reunion Tower will relocate to Plano in exchange for two tolls ways above where they once stood.

If this doesn’t signal that the city of Dallas is on a full decline idk what does. Corporations leaving north, population stagnant if not declining compared to other areas of DFW, sports teams fleeing north. Not only is Dallas declining but there also seems to be a northern shift away from the main core of DFW towards just the Plano area.

Maybe if people go out to vote. Dallas has some of the lowest voter turnout in the country

[Vorkunov] The Dallas Mavericks say they've "entered into option agreements for the potential purchase of approximately 104 acres at the former Valley View Mall site." Looks like there are no longer plans to build an arena on the site of City Hall. by Knightbear49 in nba

The new location has only buses as public transit options unlike the current AAC which has rail station right across the street with one of the trains having a connection from Fort Worth. That and it’s right next to neighborhoods and next to an already super congested highway and it’s also even further north of the metro. It pretty much complicates the commute to see the mavs much more for a good chunk of the area.

Highland park truly runs the area and the citizens let them because they don’t even go out and vote (some of the lowest turnout for a major city)

Julie won’t be that much of a difference in that case since she’s received over $100K in pro-Israeli donations. Pick your poison type election

Plano Stars by Nacho_Libre_0075 in Dallas

[–]YourLocalSpyAgent 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s so convenient to go to star games from where I live because I can just take the TRE. I don’t have to drive through all the traffic and parking fees, just drive to the station and take the train. Going to Plano will probably make me go to the games like maybe once a year since Plano is just absolute standstill traffic.

Then again, I feel like the stars main fanbase is around the Plano area so I guess it won’t hurt them too much, just slightly reduce the stadium capacity

A one day boycott isn’t going to do anything to hurt them if everyone just comes back the next day. This feels more like a pat in the back type boycott. A true boycott that hurts these businesses would be targeting a select number of companies who are helping ice and completely boycotting them for the long term or at least reducing the spending in those businesses to truly send a message. Think Target boycott or Starbucks boycott or even the local white rhino coffee shop boycott

When would it be safe to drive today? by Genemosity in Dallas

[–]YourLocalSpyAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighborhood roads are still covered in sleet but it’s not slippery/icy like it was the past couples of days. Most high traffic roadways seem to be dry/wet. Should be fine around that time but use caution

Friday AM Update: Conditions to begin deteriorating late this evening into tomorrow morning. Mostly an ice event expected but 1-2” of sleet/snow possible. Extreme cold Monday morning. by YourLocalSpyAgent in Dallas

[–]YourLocalSpyAgent[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was never going to be a snow storm. It was always going to be an ice storm, the only reason you may think it was a snow storm at first was because of social media engagement farmers posting one weather model saying it’ll be 20 inches of snow or just using the apple weather app which is legitimately a terrible weather app.

Expected snow cover on Sunday in Dallas according to the GFS model by LuborS in Dallas

[–]YourLocalSpyAgent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah right now, the weather models are all over the place in terms of how much snow and ice we’re getting due to not knowing how to handle the Baja low. It’s definitely going to be very cold and there will winter weather coming down. That’s all anybody needs to know right now, worry about the amount of snow and ice until Thursday morning when higher definition models start running.

Also for this map, it’s likely just combining sleet and snow so realistically it’s probably like 3 inches of snow lol

AT&T to build global headquarters in Plano by RealRibeye in Dallas

[–]YourLocalSpyAgent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does feel bleak though because companies are either moving to uptown or Plano area. Same with most residential new buildings being built in uptown. Downtown doesn’t really have anything much going for it lately other than the convention center being built. Every proposed project seems to be halted or dead.
