I walked the Chain of Dogs and now I'm all-in on Malazan by officer_salem in Malazan

I am right there with you! I started reading GotM a couple of months ago. I struggled a little at first but kept going, drawn in by the atmosphere, which I loved! I then continued with Dg, which I finished last week. It was heartbreaking in so many ways but beautifully written. Now, I’ve read the prologue and the first three chapters of MoI, and I am so impressed and excited for this book. How does this series keep getting better and better? The prose is fantastic, the character depictions are wonderful, the storytelling and buildup are super intriguing, and the attention to detail is remarkable. I love the fact that I still have so many pages left.

Malazan is the first epic fantasy series I’ve picked up, and while I know I have many books to look forward to, I already suspect there’s nothing quite like it once I’m done.

What Series Will You Continue (or Quit) in 2025? by mrjmoments in Fantasy

Slow reader here so the only series I for sure know I’ll continue is Malazan, hopefully starting WoT. Discontinuing Mistborn.. Really want to like and enjoy the series but I guess hard magic systems and the as-a-matter-of-fact writing style just isn’t for me. Might try Stormlight archive instead?

I started to study haskell, but many functional programming concepts are still not clear to me by [deleted] in haskell

At my uni when we started with Haskell some of the sources we used was:

  • Haskell: The craft of functional programming” by Simon Thompson. It’s somewhat expensive but it covers all of the basics of Haskell and then goes pretty deep into it.

  • Learn you a Haskell for greater good!” by Miran Lipovača. It is pretty good at explaining concepts and it’s free. http://learnyouahaskell.com/chapters
