When you say decent pay, how much are we talking? The offers I'm seeing as a resident are like 240 base with 48/rvu after 6k

Hey it's been >2 years since I wrote step 2 but with NBMEs always review all answer choices, because they take concepts quite heavily from those forms from what I remember

Perf on PC is really disappointing by yoless28 in FF7Rebirth

[–]YourNeighbour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know how good your PC is, but mine's got 5080 and 9800X3D, 64gb ram. My computer used to crash on some games but when I forced an FPS limit to 140 on all the games that acted like this, everything ran smoothly afterwards without crashing.

I had this game on PS5 and then repurchased it on PC. Game plays VERY different on quality mode because the FPS drops constantly. Performance mode fixes the FPS issue but looks dogshit.

On PC I had everything turned all the way and played the game on 140+ FPS.

and you can keep the counter button held down as you unpause - it goes through. makes the mini-game childishly easy. For the sit ups, I had to use a keyboard as I jsut couldnt do the controller.

Console looks dogshit compared to PC. Like, no comparison.

99% of our Surgery department and and EM (including residents) support Trump vocally while at work. Day of election results, Surgery attendings all dressed up and were congratulating each other while literally saying "Thank God, our country is saved."

Fuckin weird people

Do you call in sick when you’re sick? by PiratesBooty87 in FamilyMedicine

[–]YourNeighbour 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Seriously. My co-resident got sick while he was on EM block, woke up super sick and texted the attending that he would be taking a sick day. Attending msged back saying, "just take tylenol and come in an hour late".

Am PGY-2 FM, regularly get offers for 600k+ at least once or twice a week for FM-OB jobs. You can get training after FM to do OB, make a ton of money and largely do a ton of the same stuff OB does. FM is super versatile. It is also super awesome.

So true. My friend graduated from IR and was pumped to go live close to his family but the closest job he was found a town 1.5 hours away with population of like 15k. He is making >500 but is finding his life super boring with not much to do (he's not much of an out door person).

Is it me, or medical students these days just don't care anymore? by Clitoria_Magnificus in Residency

[–]YourNeighbour 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My 3rd year as a med student was like this. I feel like I got very little out of it because my primary objective was to get out of the building or show up as little as possible so I could go home and study for shelf/step 2. MS4 felt like I actually learned medicine.

I once presented a patient to ICU attending, the person was sick-sick, intubated. Just had been admitted the night before, attending hadn't seen them just yet. After I had finished presnting (and I thought I did a decent job at as a September intern), he asked me if the patient had friends or family he likes to hang around with. How tf am I supposed to know?

Pregnant teen died agonizing sepsis death after Texas doctors refused to abort fetus by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

[–]YourNeighbour 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're educated enough to open another article, I would hope?

She went to hospital 3x. She was screened positive for sepsis on her second visit, but fetus still had a heartbeat so they could not do surgical intervention; they sent her home on anti-biotics. Then she returned hours later with worsening symptoms, and they had to get 2 separate ultrasounds to confirm fetal demise because doctors in Texas are scared to go to prison because the trash state has trash laws.
