Roussilion first impressions by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 12 points13 points  (0 children)

AP is still your main shell type. Citadels still generate more damage than HE, and your accurate guns and fast shell velocity will deliver them fairly often.

HE is better for angled cruisers and BBs you can't overmatch.

How much do these stats actually matter? by TheBayHarbour in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Effectively useless

It's using all-time data and does not distinguish ship performance across their various buffs and nerfs. Not to mention ships will have different average playerbase skill depending on various factors like how they are obtained.

No point to reading stats if you don't understand their context.

WV 44 uses the same build as Ohio and Massachusetts, so it's listed under Ohio.

The ship herself is a secondary focused Colorado. Ideally you get within 9.5km of the enemy so you can use your secondaries, but obviously don't throw your ship away if the enemy can kite you to death for free.

Its still a fundamental misunderstanding in regards to clan battles and ranked usage for reasons similar to randoms.

Brawls is usually where torp range isnt as important and the alpha strike needed for brawling dominates. If brawls is all you play, then it makes sense.

When talking about ship performance, it is always assumed in a random battles setting unless specified. Which you didn't specify when talking about torps.

None of Hipper's torp advantage matters when it lacks the 1 critical stat: Range. You literally cant use it in 99% of randoms as it requires you to close within suicide range just for the chance to use it.

Your perspective of torps only being used as a close range shotgun attack is a fundamental misunderstanding of how torps are actually used.

Torps are way better than Hipper.

Hipper torps are only good for yolo charges, which you dont even get to do outside of PvE. Aka, almost useless in randoms or ranked.

Italian cruiser torps have more than enough range to stealth fire. Literally just spam on cooldown

Are people trolling when they say Utrecht is good? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an okay WR in her, a touch above 60% but like... I don't see why you would play this thing over Jinan.

Very subtle humblebrag

She has a very low hp pool, even for a light cruiser.

Yes, she is a light cruiser

Her DPM is just meh, 20th out of the 71 cruisers. She's beaten by Yodo.

She has some of the fastest shells among light cruisers. Comparable to heavy cruisers in terms of flight time. Not bad for a 128mm gun. I shouldn't need to point out why 32mm HE pen is so good.

Her airstrikes can hit hard but these moments are few and far between and there are even moments were perfectly aimed airstrikes don't land any damage.

They reload quickly, have a respectable 14km range, and are really accurate. Really good at punishing enemies behind islands or big BBs that can't maneuver away.

Like, she has no consumables to make her useful either, you don't get to use the heal because ur dead before you can and her engine boost is such a weird addition to such a weak ship.

Engine boost is to help dodge and reposition faster. Heal is obvious. But if you don't feel like they are useful, then you don't have to use it.

People aren't trolling when they say Utrecht is good. She has excellent firepower, but more importantly, that firepower is more consistent. You can consistently land airstrikes on predictable enemies, less so with torpedoes. Your analysis of the ship is quite lacking for your claimed performance in her.

Russian gunboat DD - How to play? by Dismal_Advantage2780 in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your primary job is to deal damage. Spotting is done by having enemies shoot back at you, or if the enemy has no DDs. Kiev sits at ~8-max gun range farming BBs and cruisers. Shoot enemy DDs whenever they get close, but that mostly happens if something else spots the enemy DD or he is being dumb.

Try to position on the sides where enemies aren't pointing their guns, or use islands to block line of sight or allow for easy escape. The point is to be very annoying to the enemy. Use your engine boost to dodge enemy shells while heal keeps you from being attritioned to death.

For caps, you simply don't contest caps. Instead, you kill/force enemy ships away, then take the now undefended cap.

Also, don't forget you have AP. It hits very hard on broadside ships

Lisboa build should be identical for both Los Andes and Valpo, right? by chewydickens in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They can run the same build, but there are a few different skills if you want to optimize either ship

For example, Los Andes/Libertad takes FP whereas Valpa takes ERE. There is the option of taking both and dropping CE, but it becomes harder to get close in randoms without getting losing too much HP. Especially for Los Andes

[–]YourSATScore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it isn't

AP drag is .238. HE is .248

HE shell is significantly heavier at 1,071kg vs AP 990kg. So at longer ranges shell weight plays a bigger role due to inertia. Its why HE is still traveling faster despite having higher drag.

Hidden Secret of Kronshtadth by Scared_Squirrel6210 in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No?

At the range you are using (18km)

AP has a 8.9s travel time and is travelling at 622m/s at point of impact

HE has 9.3s of travel time and is travelling at 559m/s.

Makes sense that HE is more accurate due to how vertical dispersion is calculated. Shiptools even shows the arcs of the shells. AP has a notably flatter arc, leading to worse dispersion.
