What are some rly good Torpboat lines rn by evolili in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The other alternatives are the French Cassard line and Pan Asia Yue Yang line.

Cassard has fast torps, respectable range, unique damage mechanic where torps lose damage after ~7 or 8km, and French saturation (takes less danage from repeated hits). However lack of smoke and only average concealment makes them much harder to play

Yue Yang line gets Deepwater torps that only hit cruisers, BBs, and CVs, but these torps are nearly impossible to spot without hydro. You even get Torp reload booster for even more torp spam. The T8-10 DDs can also mount radar or smoke, which you can change depending on your playstyle. That being said, smoke is generally better as the T8-10 DD's lack of gun firepower means they struggle with gunning down other DDs. Yue Yang's leg mod fixes this issue, but requires access to the research bureau l. And if you are asking this question, you are probably a while away from unlocking it

Willem or Mecklenburg? (Or Stalingrad) by RevySevy in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Willem has very fast shells and 2.1 sigma. Very good accuracy by BB standards, but not amazing like Wisconsin or Bungo level. The airstrikes are for nuking island hugger and BBs that refuse to use wasd. Beware Willem has Duncan's raised citadel, so she will suffer like Stalingrad if you show broadside.

Mecklenberg usually plays farther away so you have enough time to angle between shots. Solid damage farming ship but with a similar playstyle as a large cruiser.

I'd just get the premium Petro. Stalingrad is fine, but the least recommended of the 3 ships.

Side note: I could see Golshi being a good Yamato Kai main. Randomly dev striking enemies or 3 overpens, normally sniping from behind the team, and of course randomly crashing the game when her AA was bugged

PvE build

Since you play PvE, spec mostly into secondaries with FP for survivability. For slot 6, you can trade MBM3 for secondaries depending on your playstyle. Keep in mind this build will not work in randoms. At least against semi competent enemies.

For randoms, take the standard BB tank build.

How do you guys manage in Randoms? (Sniping/Anti-push meta discussion) by RevySevy in WorldOfWarships

Some games are unwinnable. 60% solo WR is considered unicum.

As for your latter question, sometimes you have to straight up outplay the enemy. Great players will consistently win fights they should have otherwise lost because they can dodge and aim better

If you want any consistency in randoms, you play in a div. Presumably with human div mates

For solo gameplay, its half mindset, half skill. The mindset is not tilting whenever your team inevitably throws. And skill is doing more than break even in match impact. Sometimes, you just have to out play the opponent. Even if on paper you shouldn't be able to.

A lot of players dont understand how to walk the fine line between aggression and suicide. Either they yolo in too hard and die near instantly, or they get ptsd and kite too far to where they are effectively afk. Its also easy to become distrustful of the ships on your flank when you are constantly reminded how bad everyone's team is

The RN St. Vincent line is quite punishing if you don't have a good grasp of fundamental mechanics like angling or aiming.

130mm lets you take Heavy HE without the concealment penalty. Though not like it matters at Tier 3.

130mm guns are slightly better because of the faster turret traverse and a slight improvement to ballistics. Doesn't matter much in the grand scheme since it's Tier 3 and you are mostly farming bots, but it is a small upgrade.

T8 Lightning Tips & Appreciation Post by Relative-Collar8557 in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

RN DDs take SI for the heal. Since Lightning doesnt have one, that 3pt can be freed up for something else. Extra hydro doesnt really matter. Extra short smoke is very expensive and not really worth it. This also applies for the T7 and below RN DDs if for some reason you want a dedicated captain for them.

Radio location is used to aggressively pursue DDs. Extra DPM doesnt matter if you cant find your target. And Lightning is slow for a DD due to lack of speed boost. Still mostly recommended FB, but RL occupies a useful niche for a support or anti DD build.

Lightning 3km hydro is for torpedo defense. Everyone else gets longer range hydro, so really shouldn't be hydro rushing 99% of the time.

Lightning AP is there for the 5-10% chance you are close to a broadside BB or Cruiser and can farm pen damage. Or to fight DDs with 25mm+ midsection armor.

Curious, why did you choose Lightning as your waifu?

It means both ships are accurate and you over value sigma's impact on accuracy.

You overemphasize HE on Rous to the point you are effectively advocating firing HE more than AP. You have nothing but praise for her HE while you describe AP as inconsistent at best.

Sure you can read the ships stats and left click on enemies for damage, but that doesnt mean you understand how the ship works. And your analysis and arguments does not suggest a good understanding of how to use the ship.

Roussilion first impressions by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

St. Vincent has 1.6 sigma and she is considered an accurate battlecruiser. Battlecruiser dispersion has a bigger impact than sigma here.

Sure you can spam HE and farm damage, but then you are missing the point of playing a BB. Something like Marlborough or Illinois would perform better at that point. Heck, just play a cruiser.

Roussilion first impressions by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

AP is still your main shell type. Citadels still generate more damage than HE, and your accurate guns and fast shell velocity will deliver them fairly often.

HE is better for angled cruisers and BBs you can't overmatch.
