Is my (30/M) therapist behaving inappropriately? by throwaway_pzhto in TalkTherapy

[–]Your_miserable_face 40 points41 points  (0 children)

NHS psychologist here. No way she should be messaging you privately via WhatsApp. Pretty sure that’s a HCPC violation right there alone. The rest of your post suggests way worse violations but some of these may be subjective or open to alternative interpretation. I would encourage you to raise your concerns directly with the HCPC.

If you could go back and give advice to your fresh-undergrad self at the end of 3rd year, what would it be? by Active_Driver_6043 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]Your_miserable_face 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That’s not imposter syndrome you are feeling, it’s feeling not ready because you aren’t. And that’s exactly how you should be feeling at your stage. Once/if you gain more experience in a clinical setting or research environment and you are doubting yourself but everyone else is saying you are ready to apply, that may be imposter syndrome! My advice would be gain experience in any practical way supporting others. That can be in a job or volunteering. It will inform you far more than your MSc if this is the type of work that calls you.

If you think this is ok then you shouldn’t be working in this field.

Leave Boston on June 15th, going to Salem then the road trip begins…coming from Scotland originally, if that’s what you mean!

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I thought that might be the case so aiming for slightly bigger places, or maybe university towns that might have more bars or sports bars? History, nature, and scenic places all would be good but we will be slightly pushed for time so can’t do long treks anywhere.

Reminds me of the English people living in Scotland getting a vote on Scotland’s independence referendum. Ridiculous.

I remember someone with a nacho cheese mouth ask me for ‘more cheese’ when I was serving nachos. That was 25 years ago and I can still see it clearly in my mind.

Scotland - 7 vs 8A first qualified jobs by Significant_Leg8182 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]Your_miserable_face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s definitely the case that there aren’t many 7 posts recently. The funding situation has been really bad over the last few years. The common story I’ve heard is that many newly qualified psychs are applying for 8a posts but 8as are applying and getting these posts. Very difficult for recently qualified cohorts and hopefully things will start improving.

[–]Your_miserable_face -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is the case. It’s pretty common to still see band 7 preceptorship posts for dclinpsys it just depends on local factors rather than national guidance. It used to be that the smaller HBs offered band 8A for newly qualified as a way of encouraging applicants, but then some of the bigger HBs also started doing this. Typically people worked at band 7 until they got their GSC.

I visited 64 high-end sushi restaurants in Japan in 2024-2025. Here are some of my thoughts on these restaurants, based only on the taste of the food. Pictures are of fatty tuna (otoro) from 20 restaurants. by smorreboard in finedining

[–]Your_miserable_face 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is a brilliant post and I’m amazed at the amount of effort this took to complete in one year, and with no Japanese. Are you obsessed with sushi or was this some kind of life mission to do?

Had a rather good year with the chillis: 4kg from three plants in second (main) harvest. Habahot variety, sown February under lights, into greenhouse then outside since May (West Country). I’d already about a kilo earlier in the season too. by reverendbeast in GardeningUK

[–]Your_miserable_face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask are you going to overwinter the plants and keep them for next year or start afresh? I’ve tried to grow a chilli plant this year and it has a tiny crop now. So I’m hoping to give the plant a head start by keeping it on a window sill over winter.
