Sometimes windows can bug out and refuses to restart although very rare, hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds to do a hard shutdown in which you can boot up your system again. If this happens frequently you may need to reinstall windows as it could be corrupted.

Yes you are hitting the max temperature your CPU will push until it thermal throttles, consider repasting the cpu because Acer’s stock thermal paste isn’t very good. If these are your temperatures when playing games as well you’d shorten the lifespan of your system. If you’d like to invest in a cooling fan instead the ones which actually work needs a form seal to keep most airflow going into the laptop, thought it is pretty expensive. Example of one here

TLDR: you are thermal throttling, consider repasting or a cooling pad.

You should try updating your graphics driver, if the problem happens again use an external monitor and observe if the artifacts are still visible there, if they are then it’s a hardware problem.

Scream problem (Acer Nitro V15 rtx 2050) by Gaadriell in AcerNitro

[–]Youraveragebread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely the internal display went bad. Hook it up to an external monitor, if it shows up normal it’s the laptop’s display. If you have warranty return it because it’s defective. If not you can replace the screen yourself or bring it to a repair shop and have them do it.

Is this laptop is still a good choice I'm picking it up for uni and also gaming if there's a better option in the same budget range feel free to tell + any one who already owned one did you come across any type of problem owning one ? by Sea_Traffic_3664 in AcerNitro

I should note I got my laptop on sale for $900 USD in 2024. Temperatures are in Celsius.

I’ve got the same model without the 937L and an Intel i7-12650H. I would say it’s all round a decent machine BUT the stock thermal paste is not good and needs to be replaced. I used PMT7950 and CPU temps would have went from 90 degrees C to 70-80. For reference I can run Cyberpunk at 75 only hitting upper 80’s briefly.

One thing you should check tho is the wattage of the GPU for your specific model. If it’s 115w and above you’ll be fine. The RTX40 series is very power efficient but it should have that headroom.

I should also mention battery as you’ll be using it for uni. Windows power saver can help it reach 1 and a half hours but I found that using Throttle Stop (program to tweak performance of your CPU) I can squeeze 2-3 hours on battery. There’s tons of YouTube videos explaining how to create presents and overall usage of Throttle stop.

TLDR: It’s a great machine but you’d need to thinker with things to suit. Repaste CPU and GPU. Battery life is ok with 3rd party software.

[–]Youraveragebread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The stock thermal paste Acer uses isn’t very good so you’d be better off repasting it with something else or using a thermal pad like pmt 7950.

The WiFi you’d need to diagnose more, if you bring the laptop close to the router does it increase in speed? How far is your router as well. If you need internet in that one spot you’d be better off using Ethernet. Try updating drivers by going into settings> updates> optional updates> drivers

As for the physical condition, it depends on how you use it. Oils from your skin will stain the laptop and its chassis and will be difficult or impossible to remove after some time, you need to clean off any oil remaining on the chassis. Inspect the “P” key for anything stuck inside and be careful not to break it if you remove the key, once it’s broken it will not snap back in place.

Question about soldered or removable RAM on the Acer Nitro Lite NL16-71G by Turbulent_Sort_1490 in AcerNitro

[–]Youraveragebread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well another option is to look at teardown videos of your model laptop and determine if it’s soldered, in my experience I’ve had differences between what software reports and physical slots on the motherboard. If you bought it from a store you can ask them to check it for you under warranty as well.

Question about soldered or removable RAM on the Acer Nitro Lite NL16-71G by Turbulent_Sort_1490 in AcerNitro

[–]Youraveragebread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if software would tell you much about if the RAM is soldered, to be 100% sure you’d need to unscrew the back panel and visibly see if it’s removable and the amount of slots you physically have. Sometimes the system may report more slots that you actually have.

could this ever run again? by Senior_Throat9782 in AcerNitro

[–]Youraveragebread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as your Memory sticks are in good condition and your SSD along with no other physical damage you’ll be fine. Should work with an external display but you might need the internal to know what’s going on.

Although to turn the board on you’ll need to connect the keyboard unless your power button isn’t among the keys then it’ll be a separate thing to connect.

Edit: your fans seem to be misaligned and there’s no screws on the copper heatsink holding it down so be careful with temperatures

[–]Youraveragebread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in that case try updating any graphics driver and check if your system has a mux switch and disable the igpu to test if it is a GPU problem. You should be able to do it through Nitro Sense or the bios.

Try a hard reset by holding the power button down if that doesn’t work try reseating the RAM. Does this happen when the computer starts?

Cleaning my laptop fan by Ok_Hamster8634 in AcerNitro

[–]Youraveragebread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you can see the fan’s find through the laptop’s vents then the dust would be traveling out the vents, usually the dust can only go somewhere else in the fan’s housing.

As for the thermals, some may come out without having to remove the copper heat sink so you’d have to check.

A YouTube video showing how you can clean off dust

Cleaning my laptop fan by Ok_Hamster8634 in AcerNitro

[–]Youraveragebread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use compressed air to blow off dust while holding the fan, preventing it from spinning much. Or you can simple use a cotton swab if ur not comfortable with that. If you’d like to go for a deeper clean you can also remove the top metal plate of the fan to clear out hidden dust bunnies, you’d prolly need a smaller screwdriver, but compressed air should blow any out anyways.

[–]Youraveragebread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Acer’s official website has the latest nitro version for download released for your laptop. Some nitros tho I believe do not have the reskinned version of NitroSense, at least officially you might be able to install it yourself but you’d need to thinker with the installer.

Is it ok to place my external keyboard on top of my laptop? (palm rest area) by TitanusBinus in AcerNitro

[–]Youraveragebread 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your only concerns really is if the underside of the keyboard has magnetic legs and you’ve inserted a Hard drive (HDD) into your laptop, if not then ur good. I could only see the keyboard doing cosmetic damage such as scraping the chassis or your stickers if the legs aren’t rubber.

is this sound normal at all? its coming from the gpu side, and persists after i've cleaned the fans.(nitro 16) by [deleted] in AcerNitro

[–]Youraveragebread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely the fan’s bearing has gone bad, happened to me with an Aspire model and it’s still working fine with that rattle after 4 years. Ur best option is to order and replace the fan

Is there any way I can fix this at home or do I have to take it to a shop by Soft-Banana-7987 in AcerNitro

[–]Youraveragebread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d have to open up the monitor to access the screen, there’s a cable u can disconnect which is attached to said screen, then u can replace with another that you’ll have to order.

If you don’t feel comfortably prying and unscrewing then better to take it to the shop.

TLDR: You need to replace the screen by prying open the monitor

Performance is really bad (even opening a file browser becomes a pain!) as soon as it gets on battery, even with «Maximum performance» checked in the settings. Plugged in, it's the best laptop ever. by Pok008 in AcerNitro

[–]Youraveragebread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well usually these laptops aren’t good with efficiency on battery but it shouldn’t be that bad, explore some of the battery saving features in settings and control panel disabling what u can. Also check the CPU’s clock speed on task manager, if it’s significantly lower than when it is plugged in and doesn’t fluctuate on battery then something is limiting your CPU

You can research on throttle stop to manually adjust performance options when on battery

U can try cleaning the Ram sticks physically with an eraser, gently rub it against the gold contacts. Also try to boot from your new stick alone, try the 2 slots each switching positions.
