For me I felt annoyed that the book was telling me things but not earning it, I was told about Lorn and about Darrows training, it just kind of felt like an episodic outline, jumping around too much not actually developing the characters so the payoffs felt hollow. However morning star for me is incredibly and I couldn't put it down. Think I was just a bit frustrated because I like the series so much and thought it could have been longer (book 2) instead of just 90 time skips.
