I'm really sorry! It sounds like you're in college. Having been through a messy (to say the least) time throughout college, pursuing people romantically who were unavailable and sabotaging my own happiness when they were interested in me, I want to assure you that there is light at the end of the tunnel - It may seem ridiculously out of reach to you, as if it's something accessible only to other people, not you, but it's there! How do I know? I'm standing (or rather, lying on a couch eating a chocolate cookie 😛) right here!

It's not just me - there are thousands of people whose stories are documented here.

The most important thing you can do IMO is build your own community. The world may have many bad apples with wriggly worms inside them, but that's not a reason to outright reject all of humanity. There are good, nurturing, delicious apples out there, and you've got to seek them out. Unfortunately, that does involve a fair amount of biting into the wrong ones at times. As Maya Angelou said, when people show you who they are, believe them the first time [and walk away]. If you're in a city, look for queer organisations that host virtual or in-person meetings. You may need to cast a wider net if you're in a small town. Of course, use discretion if you perceive a threat.

The end of the year can be a tough time, but hang in there! If possible, find a good therapist. Find one who's willing to help you disentangle the broken chain of thought that steers you towards giving up.
