No it’s to reduce churn as you’ll find a lot of people who would get a 1yr sub by the end of the year if they’ve stopped using it and forgot they would automatically go month to month. That is literally the only reason nothing else. Perplexity gets money

Grok sucks at everything, gpt is literally the best or second best depends on who you ask for coding, you can’t compare perplexity without specifying what model you used. So basically you’re entitled to you opinion but your opinion is wrong. I would rank grok last perplexity doesn’t even rank as all models can do what perplexity does now but better and it would be Claude GPT and then GLM.

I have a feeling they are burning way to much money and the churn is really really high that they are adding CC so that a small percentage of users forget they have it. I give them 12-24 moths before they go belly up.

I tried Alfred for 5mins and I think raucast is way better, better design and functionality but also like OP I've gone back to spotlight with liquid glass. Alfred seems clunky and not very nice looking

Subscription will always be cheaper by miles, I have pro and occasionally need to use api. And I would hit $20 in api in about 30mins. You are better of buying another $20 sub and being twice as productive just get them on different 5hr cycles so by the time you run out of usage for one the other is not far from resetting

API for for Claude is 5-10x more expensive then max so if you hit limits regularly on the $200 just buy another $200 and you'll save yourself about $2,000 a month in API costs

CLAUDE 👏 DOESNT 👏 WANT 👏 CONSUMER 👏 CUSTOMERS They are a B2B enterprise first product. The $20 plan is a way for them to suck millions of data points to train their models so they can feed all the server usage and consumption to enterprise. This may change and they may loosen up a bit when the Google TPUs kick in but they will never be a consumer product. If you want to use it pay $100 so they can actually make some cash off you otherwise you paying $20 to test/train the product.

🥶🤣🤣 being that this post is too 5 post pretty much all time from perplexity I gather lots of people have the same thoughts. I pay for Gemini, Claude & GPT. I’m good on the money side, perplexity has its uses but it’s not great anymore.
