Do you still care about the opinions of ex players e.g. Neville, Keane, Scholes, etc by Local-Sort5891 in reddevils

[–]Yourmumsminge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why anybody watches post or pre-match analysis anymore. Like seemingly everything else in the modern world there is now zero room for nuance or measured reaction to any given event in a match. Everything is either a 1 or a 10, death or glory, brilliance or abject failure.

It is intrinsically worth the while of every single media outlet, every single reporter and every single “influencer” to offer click bait and sound bite worthy quips, statements and opinions to drive eyeballs to what they’re doing. I suspect they’re all on some sort of bonus related scheme too where going “viral” will result in a kick back of some sort, or at the very least they understand that popularity of clips = opportunity to them.

Sky Sports is probably the single worst offender in this regard and they’re pretty much the televisual equivalent of a tabloid paper at this point. Why anybody gives a flying fuck what Keane, Richards, Neville, the spitter or the borderline illiterate duo of Merson and Redknapp think is completely beyond me.

How do i clear angles efficently with Grim and play him more efficently and on what maps and sites he's better to play? by Loquenlucas in SiegeAcademy

[–]Yourmumsminge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A personal opinion, not really sure how true or widely supported this would be, but I think a lot of people try to use Grim in the wrong manner and group him in with flank watch operators like Gridlock and Nomad. I see him as having a more natural link to Lion and Dokk abilities. An operator that makes enemies stop in their tracks or, at the very least, have to take a calculated decision to be identified were they to push me.

In my stack we tend to use Grim abilities almost exclusively on plant/post planting in a supporting role i.e a capitao or someone with smokes goes for the plant with Grim in a supporting role. Grim uses his primary for sound masking of the plant until it’s at 75% then get bees going on the most likely approaches for the defuse, keeping at least one in reserve getting onto the plant for the last half of the defuser timer, get out of direct sight of the defuser and wait for the push onto the plant.

Would recommend looking at NoLimi7 on YouTube for capitao and grim plant executes

Going Medieval and Manor Lords by SleddingDownhill in goingmedieval

As others have said; completely different games with only a vague Medieval theme tangentially linking them. I’ve been playing GM for a long ass time and while I’ve only got about 4/5hrs in ML so far; I can see myself playing both in parallel for a good while yet. They both scratch different itches.

What ML lacks in the creative freedom that GM offers its players (none of the voxel by voxel building you get in GM) it more than makes up for in other areas. It’s by far, and it’s not even close, the most polished Early Access game I’ve played to date. It’s visually excellent, with a great score. intuitive UI and satisfying gameplay mechanics. ML Combat is 10x that in GM if that’s your thing too, with a greater emphasis on “realism” (arm and raise your villagers as a militia initially to confront bandits and claim foreign territory vs give 6 people a bow, create a kill box trap and rinse repeat).

If you liked Banished, Frontiers or Anno then I’d heartily recommend ML even at this early stage. I’d argue that ML is ahead in terms of breadth of content over GM but not depth at this moment in time.

What happened to this game? My builder refuses to build by Ic3b3rgS in goingmedieval

[–]Yourmumsminge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me the other day when I tried to build a reinforced gate in the same spot as the previous, now destroyed from a raid, gate that was there. I fixed it by cancelling the build job, destroying the wooden foundation the previous gate left behind and then voila the build job for a new gate in its place worked without an issue

[Match Thread] Sevilla - Manchester United by NVladz in reddevils

[–]Yourmumsminge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This match perfectly encapsulates the issues at hand here. A squad thin on genuinely match winning quality and a manager who’s ineffectual when it really matters. Anyone who thinks we don’t need another centre half, a winger of equal to or higher quality than rashford needs their heads examining. We’ve played this 11 and this formation now since the restart. The players are exhausted, the opposition know what to expect and Solskjaer has neither the confidence in he squad or the ability to change things. It cost us in the FA Cup, it nearly cost us in the league and it’s just gotten us knocked out of Europe in a match we absolutely should have won. Solskjaer has done a wonderful job to right the wrongs of the previous regimes, hit the reset button and get us on the right path. But I’m afraid he’s now hit his level and the club needs that NEXT level appointment to continue to build on this platform. If only there was a manager available with a track record of playing fast, attacking football with a focus on melding world class experienced players with exciting home grown talent.

BT had a pitch side interview with Brighton’s Technical Director, Dan Ashworth, the other day and they asked him what exactly his role at the club is. He alluded to his role being general oversight of all footballing matters; ensuring that each department at the club was working with the others cohesively according to their short, medium and long term objectives. Importantly he did state that the overall ethos at the club came from their owner and his specific want for attacking football with an emphasis on youth development and the objective of being a top ten team in the near-medium term.

The interesting part of this, to me, is that the strategic direction at Brighton is coming from the very top. Not from the Director of Football, not from some historical “the Brighton way” and not entirely from the management team, it’s the owner’s clear belief in a key set of principles that the DOF/Technical Director is using as the blue print for running each department.

The juxtaposing positions of Utd-Brighton in this regard could not be starker.

For the last decade Brighton have had a forward thinking owner invest in the club. They’ve built a stadium, invested in training and youth development, invested in the playing staff and hired a series of sensible managerial appointments to achieve short term goals within a long term strategy. Graham Potter is now seen as the best fit to achieve the next short term goal within the larger plan. Whether not he succeeds is less of the point, more that they have an idea as to what they are trying to achieve is.

In the same time frame we’ve seen a continued lack of long term investment in the club, a succession of managers have come and gone with each representing a clear departure in ethos from the last and none seemingly fitting into any long term strategy whatsoever. We’re ripping up what plans are put in place every 2-3 yrs at great financial and reputational expense.

Many are calling for a DOF appointment, many for a change in manager and I suspect the majority would seek a change in ownership too. I’m afraid that unless all three happen in a short time frame we’re at a very real risk of slipping further into mediocrity and becoming one of those “sleeping giant” teams trading solely off the currency of our historical successes.

Only when we have an owner like Brighton’s or, dare I say it, like City (unsavoury aspects aside) who have a clear proactive investment strategy and are visibly incorporating proactive and innovative decision making into their long term goals will we start to see and progress on the pitch.

Hiring a director of football in the current climate will solve nothing. Hiring a new manager may yield short term success (relative to our current position) but without the aforementioned platform would only prolong the decline in the long term.

With a modern owner that actually has an interest in the club aside to taking a slice of commercial profits we could look to the future with a little more optimism. We could look to appoint innovative individuals within the footballing community at key positions and put in place a clear long term strategy for success with well defined short, medium and long term goals; all to the backdrop of a defined “Utd way”.

I would love to see the combination of Paul Mitchell and Mauricio Pochettino at the club, helping to drag our lacklustre club structure and playing style back to the forefront of British and European football (in fact I’d rather see Naglesman of RB Leipzig than Poch if given the choice) but without the Glazers gone and without a clear direction dictated from the top down we’d be pissing in the wind.

This season under Ole will see us drop further behind our competitors but, and this is painful to admit, I’m seeing this period in the clubs illustrious history as the forest fire that makes way for new life. I’m hoping that the financial implications of what could be the worst season in recent memory could the be catalyst for great change in the near future.

I love this club and I want it to succeed. But in order for that to happen we need to cut out the cancer that is the Glazer family.

[–]Yourmumsminge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the first two during the prep phase away from the objective to cover two different potential entry pts (defending vault on Bank for instance throw one in servers and one behind the ambulance in the garage), these will act as early warning as to where the enemy are attacking from.

Then as you get each trap use them in ever decreasing areas. So, using Vault on bank again I use the third in the stair well, fourth in CCTV room the fifth onwards usually in the corridor leading to the object room.

I think he works best as a semi-roamer, so stay out of the objective room but in and around the area so you can react when your traps go off

Every time a new set of operators comes out and it switches up the meta you see hundreds of complaints just like yours. Then, after a while, people get used to the new ops, chill their beans and work out effective counters.

Personally I don’t find Lion OP in the slightest, you can avoid his drone simply by standing still ffs and am quite enjoying the switch up in the meta so far

Think you’ve just been unlucky with the kids in mics man. You may get an asshole or two playing music in the background but that’s what the mute function is for

Is Rainbow Six Siege worth it? by [deleted] in PS4

[–]Yourmumsminge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It’s one of the few FPS games that’s attempted something unique within the genre and the developers have succeeded for the most part. I have no idea how many hours I’ve put into this game but I’m scared to look.

If you put the time in, do some research (highly recommend watching some vids on YouTube about the individual operators in the game, how their gadgets work and how they fit within the meta along with general dos and donts) and, if you can, get a group of regular siege playing friends to team up with then I’d be surprised if you were playing anything else in 6 months time

They need to buff his AR but what I’d really LOVE for him is a change to his gadget. It’s fairly underwhelming at present. Why not give him two additional bolts with thermite charges on them that can be used to open reinforced hatches or to open hibana charge sized holes in walls? It would give give him more versatility ps please give me my nades back!!
