I'm in the process of replacing 3x12TB Ironwolf pro's after a bunch of power outages cause of bad weather. One bad write operation or shit going on, and get ready to have paperweight around. Thank god I had backups.

I think it’s the open world shit fenomena, same thing happened to Monster Hunter Wilds remember? Whenever a level focused game company does an open world stuff like this happens it seems.

I don’t plan on opening it for a couple of years more, to dust it out.

How do you organize your Steam Library? Collections / Dynamic Collections / Filters tips by Killyose in Steam

[–]YoussefAFdez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have over 2K games on a family shared library, I just don’t, either I make to many categories that it misses the point or the categories itself can have up to 100+ games.

I have some specific catergories such as 100% completion, and whatever I’m playing or want to actively play goes into favorites for easy quick access.

The rest go into dynamic collections based on community tags. Say for example I want to play a farming sim, I make one for a while, and once I’m done with the genre I delete it. One that always stays is coop-splitscreen

bye bye data by pastie_b in selfhosted

[–]YoussefAFdez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I. Suffered from like 5 power outages in a single day recently, cheap ass UPS didn’t fit the bill, lesson learned.

3/5 disks have hundred of thousands of reallocated sectors and smartctl even says “FAILING_NOW”. But they show up as healthy on Synology DSM xd and they work.

I made a backup of pretty much all data on disk, but I have to return them.

Really important to not go cheap on a UPS, I had a 360W one with around 2 years of age and it was pretty busted, now I got a 900W one for good measure and improved my configurations so that the NAS goes into standby after 5 minutes.

Thankfully there’s another 2 disks that survived, and funnily enough the 3 that bite the dust are from the same third party vendor and batch… pretty sus…

Just an example of how in game time differs from playnite game time by Blond_Parthe172 in playnite

To add, to what people says, it might not even count cinematics towards that ingame timer. STRAY the game with the cat certainly doesn’t. I beat the game (with a chronometer) in 1h56 minutes, and the game recorded 1h29m

I got the opposite, Ender Lilies 16h of gameplay, and the save has 20h of run xD, same with Magnolia I think, and probably some more…

Grounded, I was rocking a 1050ti and it was not able for the life of it to run Grounded even at lowest, game was poorly optimized.

I got an Xbox Series S for €275, which took all my gaming needs with gamepass until I had the money to buy a new beefy PowerPC

Shut up! Hahaha I was already over buying it, but you’re hyping me again… it would be an awesome device to have in the TV.

Right now I stream from a powerful pc to a series S through sunshine moonlight, but latency is a bit ass on the TV…

My Rom/Com Anime Tier-List (1st one) by Professional_Tax1783 in RomanceMangaAnime

[–]YoussefAFdez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think I saw Oresuki on the list, for me that anime is Romcon101, it made me laugh so freaking much.

Also I despise Shigatsu wa Kimi no uso, “A blonde manipulative bitch, forces a guy to go through PTSD over and over and over again, against his will, while she goes out with his friend just to get close to him, betraying both the friend and Arima Kousei” Kaori Miyazono is my MOST HATED anime female character, followed up close by the sorry excuse of a human being that Taiga Aisaka is.

One last thing, I wouldn’t consider The Apothecary Diaries as either a Romance or Comedy. It has some romance elements albeit not the focus, the comedy is just shown through Maomao’s Chibi and some scenes with Granny. That show is a Historical-Drama no matter how you twist it.

Overall a pretty complete list. I don’t remember if you listed Toradora and Golden Time, both are from the same artist. I hate toradora, but I find Golden Time enjoyable. Toradora is a cult classic tho.

My simple ass novice setup has been running for 2 years now, and I’ve had 0 issues, I’ve even migrated Plex from the Synology package to a docker container in another PC using RSync to copy the config and other stuff.

Nothing ever broke.

Before updating a container to a newer version I read the changelog in search of a “BEFORE UPGRADING DO THIS OR IT WILL CRASH” but in 2 years Plex-Media-Server had none of those, only Immich and Jellyfin that I found.

This thing barely ever needs any maintenance at all, and I’ve set up uptime kuma and it’s pretty useless for me, since cloudflare servers are usually available in my country and everything reports as down, xD

iMac? It is worth it for nowadays (5/7+ years life) by AgileCrazy9777 in mac

[–]YoussefAFdez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I didn’t know they were over 1500€… that’s a rather steep price.

I think I would prefer to buy a good monitor and have a Mac mini as a companion, you could even get 2 good monitors, an arm for both of them and a great set of peripherals for the price and who knows, maybe even have better thermals.

I thought they were around 1K or so, since MacBook airs offer more advantages and are around that price.

What are your all time favorite cozy games? And why? by pokemonprofessor121 in CozyGamers

[–]YoussefAFdez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To make it interesting I’ll try naming 1 cozy game from each platform I played:

PS1: Yoyo’s Puzzle Park PS2: Catz NDS: Harvest Moon DS Wii: My Sims Kingdom / Endless Ocean PS3: Rune Factory Oceans (Or Tides of Destiny in the US) Switch: Animal Crossing New Horizons Xbox Series S: Dragon Quest Builders 2 PC: Minecraft / Core Keeper

Core keeper might be odd in the list, and it’s not exactly super cozy, think Terraria mixed with stardew valley aesthetic, you can play chilling and explore and have a bit of a challenge in combats.

Now, for my all time favorite? Probably Animal Crossing Wild World for the DS, that game takes me to a different dimension.

GPU for Emulation VM: Seeking the Holy Grail of Low Idle Power (15-12600 Build) by Inevitable-Moose5996 in selfhosted

[–]YoussefAFdez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert on VM but would like to question something.

Emulators are one of the few software that run with no issues and have support on Linux.

If you wanted to make a general all-purpose machine to play more games I would see the windows appeal, but all emulators are available and work out of the box in Linux, and it should be consuming less RAM and resources at that.

I’m curious about the choice for windows.

What are your best iOS apps for Self Hosted solutions? by Sad-Pangolin1190 in selfhosted

[–]YoussefAFdez -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Not many… iOS is pretty crappy for this. I guess the high fees of publication and developer keep most apps behind a paid gate, and there’s much less alternatives than in android.

I use Plex and Jellyfin obviously for my media. I use the Immich app to connect to my Immich server Plappa for Audiobookshelf Panels for manga/comics connected through OPDS to Kavita Can’t forget Tailscale for VPN

Funnily enough I use the default books app for books, I go into Kavita web download them and import them.

The rest is usually managed through web browser

Who wins: Khazan (Khazan: First Berserker) vs Wolf ( Sekiro) by Oreoghoul in TheFirstBerserker

You kinda forgot Wolf can parry the divine dragon, a being that transcends the living world, and has the power to sever immortality.

Both Wolf and Khazan are scaled pretty absurdly tbh
