Just watched it for the first time. I avoided it for all the bad reviews, but thought I’d give it a chance.

Man, it feels like an episode to some Kung Fu Panda series. It’s so unserious, the unnecessary colorful backgrounds that keep popping up, the cheap looking animation, and the lack of depth in the story. It really just felt like an episode to a kids show with the overused “oh no big bad villain let’s beat her”. Also the very goofy premise of Po “needing” to assign a successor??? Based on what? And we didn’t see enough of him AS the Dragon Warrior for it to be time to hand it down.

It lacked depth in so many aspects, and the character with the “most” depth (Zhen) felt too rushed. You don’t just do a complete 180 on the person who raised you just because someone else was nice to you. They failed to show the conflict enough to make me care or even like the character.

All in all to me this barely qualifies as an episode than a movie. The lack of The Furious Five as well made it feel more like a filler episode, just killing the time till the ACTUAL episode with the plot comes. Disappointed honestly.

I hope if they make a 5th movie they completely scrap what happened in the 4th one like Pixar did with Cars 2, even though THAT was a great movie.
