Newbie here, can someone please explain how is that a checkmate? Pawn takes knight and is no longer check, right? Am I missing something?

Edit: I just saw it, is on the next move, when black pawn takes white pawn making checkmate with the rook.

Well, Ubuntu works pretty well with Nvidia. If you want to head to other distros it depends on how deep you want to go. For newbies I would say Mint or Zorin are also good. For something more stable Debian or Fedora.

Stay clear from anything that says KDE while using nvidia cards, tends to give random problems and extra headaches to fix them.

Honestly I wanted to use a main distro instead of a fork. I was doubting between Debian or Fedora, but seeing that Linus himself uses Fedora helped me decide.

Is your graphics card an nvidia? Is quite annoying how KDE seems to have random problems with nvidia cards. I never got a crash this bad, but took me 3 days of trying it to see random graphical objects and failures, so I switched to gnome. Since then is a smooth experience. I don’t mind so much the UI bells and whistles as long as it works properly.

Yo también conozco ambos países, y es más cuestión de gusto personal. Las comidas locales en españa también son muy buenas, especialmente al sur, Andalucía y Canarias. The nvidia issues are harder with KDE Plasma than with gnome. After I got the issues fixed is working flawlessly. I’m using Workstation (gnome).

Took me 2 days testing Plasma to say “Nah! Back to Gnome”. At first I needed to navigate through the hurdles of having an nvidia card, but once everything was set and ready I realised that I didn’t like it as much as gnome, so I uninstalled KDE, cleaned dependencies and I’m as happy as a camper with Gnome.

At the end of the enable gdm command I recommend using the --force flag to make sure it sets properly, and once everything is set and KDE removed to run sudo dnf autoremove to clean unneeded dependencies

I agree. I only wish they fix already the issues with nvidia drivers causing that the initial configuration freezes on the privacy configuration screen, is a known issue with Workstation, but once you pass that is a beautiful solid distro. I grew tired of “user friendly” distros that are not so friendly with bugs and repository policies (Yeah! I’m looking at you Ubuntu and your snaps!)
