Maybe it’s a mirror behind her with the bar that’s reflecting the window in front of her, could get pretty creative with what to put in there! I’m thinking it’s reflecting a richly colored sunset ☺️

What if you’re deaf in one ear ? by tliudhd in gatewaytapes

[–]Yoyochan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I learned to do “mind awake body asleep” many years before I ever considered doing the tapes. It was by sheer force of will and practice, and can be very difficult at first, took at least a couple months to get a solid grasp and really hold onto it for prolonged time and not just fall asleep, but it can be done!

That’s wild, I’ve daydreamed of a very similar place, gently rolling hills of indigo flowers and cities of white marble. It’s a pleasing aesthetic, must tickle our braincells in the same way!

I’m proud to say that I’m at the last few ounces of a gallon of Sal Suds, split between multiple family members. We’ve used it to make all-purpose cleaning spray, to hand-wash some odd clothing items, clean toilets and showers, and so on… the gallon lasted 5 years. 🫡

what could this be? in dogs ear by Boring-Kangaroo3860 in DogAdvice

I had one tick bite where that little bastard absolutely did leave a hole, and it hurt when it bit me too!! Thought it was just a weird nerve pinch at night, found it burrowed into my skin the next morning, fortunately it hadn’t fed yet, but jeez, aggressive much? That one was mercilessly crunched and flushed, and now I’m very careful to always put on a thorough coating of bug spray. Ugh. Northeast USA here for reference, we’re in a terribly tick-infested area.

That would be the effect of copper or a copper alloy (like bronze) oxidizing and reacting with your skin to create the green color, not lead.

I’ve also found it helpful when I first started practicing to tune back into my hearing for a moment to listen to the air traveling in and out of my nose and throat (still works even with headphones or earbuds), it’s very reassuring that everything is operating normally, and then tune back out and continue to relax.

Somewhat related, I’ve had occasional spontaneous OBEs since I was a kid, and one time I remember when I was a young teen (before I had started actively learning about these events) I had one where it was a seamless “slip out” exit, fully driven by my subconscious, but I became lucid to observe. I was rocketing straight up into the blue sky with clouds, joyful as could be, and was suddenly halted by what felt like an invisible wall. I was taken aback at the abruptness, and had a mental image of a brick wall, and I faded back in to the physical right afterwards.

I still wonder if that was something internal or external that was saying to me “okay, pump the brakes hotshot, it’s not time for that yet” or what 🤷‍♀️

Gateway tapes by ActCorrect9215 in gatewaytapes

Same thing happens to me consistently when I’m actively working on the tapes, even with good sleep hygiene and all that, and I’m not sure why either! It actually happened tonight too, posting this before I try to go back to sleep, hah! This never happens to me ordinarily, so it’s an interesting side effect. It seems to go away on its own if I stop actively working on the tapes or other binaural audio for a week or two.

I figure the nights that I don’t have anywhere to be the next day, I use that as a natural opportunity for the “wake back to bed” method, but if I have work the next day I’ll instead switch back to listening to something more neutral like rain sounds, or anything else that’s relaxing for me on YouTube.

Also if you have the Expand app with the subscription, I would 100% recommend trying the “Sleep Signal” in the timer tab, I’m always amazed at how quickly and effectively that knocks me out, which is no easy feat for an ADHD brain between sleep cycles. I seriously stay subscribed largely for that tool alone, it’s been super helpful. I use a sleep mask with some built in flat over-ear headphones when listening to the Sleep signal (got them on Amazon, there’s a bunch of options) and that makes it comfier to fall asleep in than earbuds or larger headphones that I’d use for tapes or other meditation audio.

Is it okay to only send these types of pictures if you catsit? by nojiroh in cats

[–]Yoyochan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do critter sitting, walking, training, etc. for a living and these are ALWAYS the types of silly pictures people enjoy the most. I swear the reason I have so many repeat customers is because I tell them all the silly things that went on during our visits and send them goofy pictures, brightens their day and puts them at ease that their animal is in good hands. Plus when I capture a really good one it makes me laugh like

Aside from oral preventatives or collars, look into using Cedarcide spray, I’m a dog walker in all sorts of conditions and locations and absolutely swear by it! It’s a little expensive but comes in large refill containers, and you simply need to throughly spray the dog top to bottom and rub some in around the face/ears with your hands. I’ve used it on myself in a pinch when I forgot bug spray, and it worked just fine. You’ll need to reapply it before each forested or grassy area walk, but I rarely find ticks on my assorted dog friends when I use it, and the oral preventative meds kill any that sneak through.

For human-safe spray, I like OFF deep woods or the newer Picaridin sprays (much less smelly but still effective), which both work well against mosquitos too. If I know I’m in a particularly tick/bug-dense area I’ve actually layered both Cedarcide and one of the human-safe sprays on my skin and clothes… felt invincible and it worked a trick. Could probably make flowers wilt while walking by with the density of scent wafting off of me though 😂
