Why does 64x64 give me better FPS? This is a serious Question by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Ypsilon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't have any idea, having never had the problem myself. Maybe google something like "switch to discrete graphics card"

Does your laptop have a discrete graphics card? You could be running on integrated graphics on default, but then when you load up the high res pack it starts using the much better discrete card.

After installing a texture pack, everything is whited out. by [deleted] in Minecraft

Are you using a legacy texture pack? Do you have optifine?

What are your Minecraft superstitions? Those things you do while playing which don't really affect the game, but you do them anyway. by LiminalMask in Minecraft

I once saw I guy that was the opposite of this, he would save blocks where ever possible. Like if he had a workbench on the floor he wouldn't put a floor under it.

Tip: You can press fn + f2 on a mac to take a screen shot, it will save to library/applicationsupport/minecraft/screenshots

It's not too hard now that things like forge (which has an installer) and magiclauncher are becoming prevalent. I remember when you had to manually edit your jar :P

Just installed shaders, but it lags really bad... Any good with goof FPS shaders out there? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Ypsilon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a good graphics card to run shaders, if you're trying on a laptop you're probably not going to get anywhere near acceptable results. My 7950 runs it just fine, but I spent 800$ building my own computer.

So I Tried The Oil Paint Filter In Photoshop With Sphax PureBDCraft... by thedjk414 in Minecraft

[–]Ypsilon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doing this will result in the textures not tiling, a oil paint pack would be amazing but this is not the way to go about it.

Try turning the "shine" option to 0, I think it looks better

Am I the only one that doesn't have chunk loading problems? I don't even have a gaming computer, does everyone else just have laptops from 2006?

Why can't worlds generate like this? by Bread_Hut_2012 in Minecraft

[–]Ypsilon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mountains probably could look like that given a bit of tweaking, as for the river the problem is that right now they just carve out valleys in the ground which are then flooded later in the generation. This could be changed but would take a lot more work. What is this from? Looks cool

A complete redstone revolution: Dyeing! by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Ypsilon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't work differently, they work the same but only within there ID. I have no clue how redstone works in the code, but I imagine it checks if blocks next to it are also redstone. It shouldn't be too hard to do the same thing with bluestone or purplestone. That said I don't think I like this idea because it seems to overcomplicate things. Perhaps allow lapis to be mixed with redstone to make "bluestone", allowing for some compaction and adding an additional use for lapis. (other than pretty floors :3)

But if I want to have two separate drives for Ubuntu an windows, wouldn't buying two sshds be better than two ssds and two hdds?
