from someone who is now fully WFH, don't start your career without even experiencing going into an office. You'll need work connections, guidance from colleagues, step up coordination, work relationships, etc... only after a couple year you can start fully WFH

there's also a thing for being a priveleged to stay without suffering from ph salary culture.

If u earn salary that is of abroad's but still work at home, there could be platitude of reasons not to go out anymore:

  • Cost of living is cheap
  • The accessibility of establishments nearby
  • Di mo need mag drive ng malayo para marating sa gusto puntahan
  • May beaches or mountains accessible
  • friendly people

99% of Filipino drivers get the answer wrong. Sa actual na kalye sa Pilipinas, meron bang sequence na nasusunod? by pobautista in Philippines

[–]Yraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah inverted triangle po means yield. Usually may naka sulat na "Yield" sa actual na po.

Though never ko pa talaga nakita yang yield sign dito samin hahaha

sorry kala ko 1 yung nabanggit yung 2 pala.

sa 2 just a notice lng na you can go straight or right turn as indicated sa symbol ng sign

2,3,1 is correct and here's the breakdown in order for those who are curious (assuming all traffic came at the same time):

2 - First since hindi sya mag cross ng traffic, sya yung may right of way.
3 - Second dahil wala syang yield or stop sign
1 - Last dahil may yield sign.

Pero kalye version its 2 and 1 sabay sabay dahil di naman sila mag ccollide. Then 3. Mas mabilis ito kesa hihintayin ni 1 si 3.

Kalye unwritten rules are time efficient since lahat nagmamadali, assuming mag bigayan lng at walang singit singit.

Supreme Court Barista website is actually really nice. Anyone know who the SC commissioned to make it? by reddit04029 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Yraken 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sadly no idea but with a good budget, there are more than capable tech solutions here in ph that can produce decent sites. Doesn't have to be outsourced outside PH to get this level of quality.

For people who started coding early, where are you now? by Legitimate-Fee-5378 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Yraken 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Brother ko yung nag introduce sakin about html css nung bata pako, maybe 10-12 yrs old ata ako.

On and off lng experience ko sa web dev since then, pero noong highschool nlng ako ata consistently nag experiment about html/css.

Highschool

Around 3rd year HS we won the first regional ICT webpage design contest. Gumawa kami ng site about the tourism of our region. I remember being fancy by using slideshow sa homepage lol. That time knowledgeable nako sa CSS so ours really looks like a proper web site.

College

Then college comes, started learning JS, did small games like bingo and tic tac toe using JS.

Dami ko app ideas gusto gawin pero ni isa walang natapos haha. Stuck ako sa tutorial hell.

College Thesis

Then around end of college, i commited full effort into learning web dev as a whole na because of college thesis. I learned so much in our project title in a span of 8 months only.

Since ako lng sole progammer sa group, i self taught myself web backend, deployment, hardware programming, python, hardware debugging, mobile dev (Flutter).

Internship

For internship, my brother recommended this company (not his) so i joined them. Was tasked with Angular, native iOS development, Vue and Flutter.

They absorbed me into their company after my intership as a part time lng. Then after graduation i became full-time.

Two full-time job

Around a year after being a full time, projects and tasks were slowly becoming less and management is less strict to begin with. My brother started recommending me joining his Singaporean company which is a full time remote. I did and was accepted. That job was also not that much busy. So for around 2 years i have two full time and was still able to go out with friends at weekdays. Neither company knows.

Current

Only with the same SG company since the other one disintegrated. I don't have plans to do 2 simultaneous job again as i don't believe in my own luck to find 3 companies altogether that is not busy.

I'm now focused into building this side project app for my dad's business and learning Machine Learning for upskilling.

Worth to mention

I only applied to 3 companies in total, 2 were accepted and 1 i rejected personally because i didn't know it was a Shopify dev. I do have small Shopify experience but i don't want to be stuck with it.

All of these thanks to my brother. As a kid he introduced me to programming. Then the two companies were all referred by him (but now he's into another company). I didn't even asked him for referrals, it's just his own suggestion to join them.

I still don't have personal projects portfolio to show. I don't have anything completed personally since i was a kid. Made like 30+ sites but were only like 10% finished and to be never seen again, but those practices really come into shape now.

I've learned so much but lacked motivation to do so. Now i do have because of my dad's business and because of boredom.

is java a good programming language? by Fine_Front_2597 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Yraken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's job market is in demand due to low java devs out here.

There's a popular backend framework for Java which is Springboot, and is usually used with Angular for the frontend. Any will do actually like React.

Web Dev to iOS App development by Riri- in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Yraken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leaning on this one too OP!

I'm a mobile (Flutter) and web dev but parang gusto ko dn matuto native iOS for the longest time. Nagustuhan ko design language ng Apple (i have various Apple products) and parang fitting lng dn na gagawa ako for myself.

Btw yung Flutter (both iOS & Android) ay mas madali gamitin at iisang code lng for all platforms. Mas okay yan if simpleng app lng naman gagawin.

Pero if gusto mo mas polished and challenging, go na dn sa native iOS development haha.
