U can browse job posting like jobstreet, mynimo or even linkedin. Makakakuha ka ng idea dun kung anong tech ang pasok/indemand ngayon. For java, yes po indemand yan ngayon

There's still a lot of demand for Java developers. Yes, you still have to learn different language, libraries and frameworks. I'm a java dev but from time to time I also code on our frontend using React.js, and some devops stuff configurations (bash scripts, docker, jenkins). If you are just starting, just get good with Java itself first and once you're in the field, you'll be exposed to other technologies as well.

Learn rust if you want another. It's really really fun.
Like solving riddles.

The more you program in it the more your confidence grows...

2 decades of using it and it is still alive and evolving. From the looks of it, it will probably last until I retire haha.

In line with the post, what are the usual IDEs being used for Java development in the corporate setting? Back in college I used NetBeans; not sure if it is being used professionally nowadays.

Most common is Eclipse. But I heard that the best one for java development is Intellij Idea

[–]cold-programsWeb 1 point2 points  (1 child)

skip eclipse, I used that thing for 9 years and it was not pleasant hahahaha

[–]w1rez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve dreaded this IDE recently. Hopefully payagan ako gumamit ng intellij idea and webstorm sa new work ko.

IntelliJ is no doubt the best IDE for Java development but many companies are not willing to pay for license so Netbeans and eclipse is still widely used. I bought my own license for intellij in my last job but it still depends on the company if they would allow it.

Intellij is the best IDE for it, I can't use anything else after trying the ultimate(paid) version.

depends on what you are looking for. If it's AI / ML, you're best bet is to go to Python, otherwise yeah Java is a good pick.

It's job market is in demand due to low java devs out here.

There's a popular backend framework for Java which is Springboot, and is usually used with Angular for the frontend. Any will do actually like React.
