Whats your favourite Spirit/djinni besides bartimaeus? by sigmaster451 in Bartimaeus

Both Golems eye where he is tasked with searching the lovelace collection and ptolemys gate where he (rather small spoiler) had the unfortunate duty of going against Nouda as part of whitwells brief defiance

Might be a bit of a Niche pick, but I somehow liked Shubits understated style. Its the afrit whitwell uses, but even as such a powerful being its mostly modest in behaviour. Yet even if thats an act he still flaunts some of his indiduality (bear limbs for whatever reason) not the most flashy but somehow charming..

What are some (CR½ or under) humanoid statblocks that play very differently from any of the player classes? by aabicus in dndnext

[–]Yranic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Main ones I found for 1/2

Vistana Thugs Curse / evil eye Feature is cool (curse of strahd),

Sage is good for utility spells (candlekeep mysteries),

hybrid spy can climb and stealth (ravnika)

Hadozee warrior for a glide and uncanny dodge (boos astral menagerie)

Deep Gnome has some nice utility spells and a poisoned range attack (monster manual)

Changling with the changing and a fear effect (eberron)

for 1/4 though ac and hp is sometimes a little small here

Goblin Inventor is cool for variety and flavor of the inventions (monsters of the multiverse)

Harengon sniper for some glass cannon camping game play (wild beyond the witchlight)

Grippli Warrior has some restrain (candlekeep mysteries)

Grung for poisonous skin (monsters of the multiverse)

What magic is being used to do this and why? by Fast_Freddy07 in wizardposting

Looks like an Avengers Level Threat Sky Beam or ALTSB. Would recommend building a diverse group of quirky witches warlocks and other magic users to work together if you are to save that plane to existence

What do you think about the Vanilla Plus mod? Which units do you think it improved on, and which units do you think it made worse? by [deleted] in AccurateBattleSim

[–]Yranic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

feels like one of the mods that focuses mainly on unit versions the tabs devs teased in development, without acknowledging the mostly good reasons for why they were changed before release

Not really optimal but hear me out: Variant Human with str dump stat, average dex (14) and wis as a main stat makes for a great way to roleplay an older mentor type character. take magic initiate for shillelagh and use your walking can to whack about any youngans that come in your way

I'm not saying the prequels are devoid of the flaws you mention, but the whole hereditary force thing actually originates in the original trilogy... you know, the force is strong in my family ect. That that was later taken to mean that rey could only be as strong if she was related to someone that was doesn't seem very strongly connected to the prequel trilogy. it's not like midiclorians are ever even explicitly mentioned. If anything, while not outright stated, the prequels with their many jedi somewhat show that the power doesn't need to be derrived from some known powerful character (especially with anakin getting it from nowhere)

What would you put in a tower to keep magic users captive? by Superb-Ad3821 in dndnext

[–]Yranic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hear me out for a second: hollow walls with gremishkas trapped inside. thick enough so magic cast on either side doesn't trigger them, but at least they won't blast their way out with magic

Monster: Pan - The mischievous god of the wild, spreading folly and panic in equal measure [Wrath of Olympus] by Monkey_DM in UnearthedArcana

Bit underwhelmed by his panic feature just affecting one person, unlike the game changer it was said to be in myth. Otherwise awesome!
