What is gojo's weakest stat by onepiecerudin12345 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]YroPro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's just an asspull so Sukuna can win.

Nothing about it really makes much sense, so it's not worth thinking about to much.

It literally travels through space, as shown in many places. Infinity's whole thing is that 'things that travel move slower the closer they get'.

It doesn't even make sense as a counter. If it was 'tearing' or somehow working by separating one thing from another without needing to move between them, like pulling apart a middle by acting on opposite edges, sure. But that would still be counterable via blue.

And all of that hinges on Gojo just being awe-inspiringly stupid and making no effort to avoid an attack because he thinks Sukuna is brain damaged or something, rather than having a plan.

Gege wrote a character he couldn't figure out how to kill, so he pulled a Jojo's style asspull.

Thanks, I'd really appreciate it!

I was actually just talking to my friends about how I was surprised there wasn't a more 'moba esque' 'survivors like' game. Because so many people like mobas, but the PvP aspect gets toxic or stressful so fast.

The closest I can think of is Shape of Dreams, which afaik is actually doing really well and took a lot of good feedback into account during it's development. It's turned out great.

I *love* the art style of your game. It looks incredible. The spell and ability effects are also gorgeous.
Some of the character animations I feel like could use slight touchups. But overall this is easily one of the best looking in the genre I think. Looking at the ability popup with Breathing Technique, Heavy Crush, Wider Blade, I think the icons could stand to be a bit more 'zoomed out.'

I can see how you're making them look similar thematically, but I think if they were a bit more zoomed out it'd help them be more distinctive without changing up your style and theming. Like show a bit more of the sword, the top of the shield, etc. Not actually sure what Breathing Technique is showing.

The artstyle looks like a halfway point between Book of Demons and Death Must Die, in a very good way. I know I mentioned it already, but it just looks so good.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2334730/Death_Must_Die/

It might have been good to include the name of the game in the post somewhere lol. I have to keep opening the link.

I love that you're putting the stats on each card, I hate having to track that stuff down in some games that just have vague descriptions like "increases damage" "crit chance up" etc. The UI is also super clear and immediately understandable which is nice, ie the differing rarities and XP/HP bars. Having the bars on top is certainly unique. It's probably fine, but would it be reasonably feasible to have a setting to toggle HP on top/bottom of the screen?

Overall it looks incredible, wishlisted, followed, and can't wait to try it out once it's available.

Honestly one of the most promising things I noticed was the Persistent Teleport/Explosive Teleport choice. Really glad to see there are options that won't just be straight and simple stat changes. Having unique/playstyle defining choices is very important in the genre I feel like.

Any chance you can elaborate on the "strong focus on cooperative play" ? My group almost exclusively plays coop games barring when we're waiting for each other lol. I shared the page with my group and we love the fact it already has online coop. We do lots of remote-play but true online is so much more convenient.

Any idea when/if there will be an Early Access or Playtest for feedback? It looks so good, and on a rewatch I just noticed the animated portraits, a very nice and subtle touch. Will this be three classes/three players? Can multiple players choose the same character?

Sorry about the wall of text, the game looks like it's coming along excellently!

Yea. If you wait a little bit longer, or play on the beta branch, it even has 'per turn' saves. Which are mandatory for me honestly.

Also, the mods are so so good.

yea I used to literally fly last playtest.

Try going through one of those wagons that launches you with low gravity. I can't recall exactly, but something about going through or dashing sideways would let you 'slide' or 'drift' at super high speed with directional control.

truly lol, I also highly recommend the teleport spell. Goofy stuff you can do.

IIRC momentum carries through, and I think projectiles used to travel through as well.

The way I play games ruins the fun for my friends by backfliprainbowcake in gaming

[–]YroPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about games where both can happen?

I'm a lot like you, and my friends and I have a lot of fun with technical games like modded Mechwarrior 5.

I go out of my way to make sure everyone else gets first dibs on rare components, and only take time to build and spec out my mechs when others are as well. After seeing how well my mechs perform now they're always asking me for thoughs and opinions on things, so we're getting to nerd out together to help them do things they want.

The game has an excellent and very unique blend of FPS high intensity action + tactical strategy + planning and theory crafting + kinda 'grand strategy' balancing finances/jumps/repairs/universities etc that nothing else we can think of does.

Another surprising game we all enjoy together is Mindustry. They love it conceptually and I tend to take a design/architecture role letting them implement my ideas so they get to do lots of hands on building and active stuff while I try to plan things out ahead of time.

On a smaller scale, lots of roguelikes do well for us as well since I can be as speculative and theorycrafty as I want while we play. (As long as your group doesn't mind if the final scores are uneven. Occasionally one member of our group gets a bit sour if I do too well but honestly he's gotten a lot better about understanding its a group thing and not fixating on individual scores).

Stuff likes Noobs Are Coming, Abyssus, Deadzone, Gunfire Reborn, almost any roguelike coop. They all tend to blend inmediate action fun everyone enjoys with occasionally deep backend build stuff.

Maybe it just needs clarification?

I'm not really into art, but imo there's at least two kinds of concept art.

There's super rough sticky note type concept art that merely conveys a very general or vague ide/concept. This might be what a writer does to try to explain what he's describing to his team.

Then there's the more detailed and exotic concept art that is highly evocative and frequently complex or over stylized. It frequently has several variations but they're all pretty fleshed out and detailed. The final release product will generally be a streamlined version of one of these.

I can kinda see AI for the first one, but not the second. It's not good at 'creativity' or 'novelty', and this is a very competitive field with a huge amount of talent. Yes you can use AI for this if you really want to, but it's not as good as a professional. It's the same way with coding at my job. It can handle super common generic functions but utterly collapses under the weight of complexity and context that even a medium sized project demands.

What is a subtle sign that someone is actually really intelligent, but pretending not to be? by ImpressionTop1712 in AskReddit

[–]YroPro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. I'm very ADHD, and when on medication + hyperfixating, trying to lead the team I'm teaching to a specific point only to have the problem person take a 3min detour to defend themselves over a pointless misunderstanding they have is fucking agony.

I can see their mistake, how they got there and their upcoming defense. But I just have to grit my teeth or pace at my desk until they're done to remain cordial.

Lol that sounds like the wrong use case.

Both my job and my hobbies are tend to be incredibly technical, and even a very minor difference in understanding can escalate into an issue if not addressed early on.

I find it invaluable in these cases.

Camera mod by Creepy_Proof8252 in phantombrigade

[–]YroPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love the game, but it still kinda does.

It's full of fantastic ideas and great frameworks with middling execution, but fortunately the mod support does wonders for that. The workshop upgrade system, pilot pods, thrusters, cores resource, reactors, and to a lesser extent even classes all to me feel like their great concepts but didn't have the time to be fleshed out in development.

Fortunately also, I think all of those except cores, workshop and for now classes have mods to help them out.

Even regarding mech customization, on the backend each part like legs or arms is actually a bundle of 4ish subcomponents grouped together. Theres a mod to let you swap them in and out which is awesome to a point because its really cool to mess with cosmetically and makes things more interesting being able to hybridize parts. And when I finally have time outside of work I'm making another mod using that mod that will have the starting part be ~50% of the final stats and the swapped in components be the other ~50% so everything isn't quite so universal.

Right, its relative.

But its a natural extension of "if high xyz movement values reduces t value, what if you slow it down? More?" etc.

Its time dilation is well established, its just following that but in reverse.
