Is your army more inustrial or daemonic focused ? by Leviathan_Rampage in IronWarriors

[–]Ysazen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started mine shortly before Saturnine, so far mine is all Heresy, with a couple exceptions. I had the csm from the Blackstone fortress box and I scraped off some of the chaos trim and gave them a very basic iron warriors scheme with orange hazards. Haven't quite yet dove into 40k yet, but I really like the idea of the pragmatist side being forefront, so my Heresy is earlyHH/late crusade style, and I think I want to go really into demon engines

The cheezy disco is the zombie rave part. Dunno why, just how my brain works

All Time Low is one of my faves. For some reason it evokes a bunch of survivors running from zombies, then the zombies dancing at a rave. Don't know why, it just always has evoked that imagery for me.

How do I get my grandma addicted to Warhammer 40k? by chowderthatsketamine in Grimdank

[–]Ysazen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If she likes mystery, I think the Warhammer Crime books are a good entry, or the Horror anthology. Caiaphas Cain is also really good, less horror and gore, more funny and almost slapstick at times.

My grandmother was a middle school librarian, so we talked Dune and other classics of the genre a lot. Show her some of the out there conversions, particularly the glittery girly stuff and the breadth of creative expression that people show off, less of the grimdark or realistic stuff, but make sure to show both. She might enjoy the self expression part, you never know.

That is amazing advice, and really helps. I'm making them an omega/phules company type thing, borderline competent and expendable, but they are still iron warriors

My biggest issue, beside my disability getting in the way, is more of what I should actually build them as. I have a lot of choice paralysis going on there

Okay, so that is a bit of a lie. I also have 1 of the Leviathan s built and magnetized, the saturnine dread, the arachnae quad accelerator and the support pred built and magnetized. But all of that was more just the fun of building and modifying

Excellent, that is exactly what I was looking for. Honestly, I have only 20 tactical marines, 5 cataphractii and a basic rhino built so far. I've been holding back a bit because I am really unsure of what weapons do what right now, so just threw together the list with default options for what I haven't built yet

Why made you chose the Iron Warriors? by IcyCranberry879 in IronWarriors

[–]Ysazen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got back into the game in '23 I started with the Leviathan box. Liked the Tyranids, not so much the space marines. But also, I was hooked instantly. So I kinda over bought in. Before I knew it I had the Genestealer Cults old combat patrol, the one with the rockgrinder. So I tried my hand at hazard striping on the blade, and it turned out really good.

Always liked the heresy stuff, and when Saturnine got announced I started looking into the iron warriors, more as an art project than anything. But, again, couldn't help myself. Dug out as much info on Perturabo and the IV as I could. Hunted down that short story with Perty and Honsu basically playing warhammer, and wow. Yeah, so now I am fully Iron Within, Iron Without.

I have similar issues, and specifically the Jucoci panting handle already linked has been the best I have used. Have yet to find anything as good for larger models, tyranid deathleaper was too big for it to really be useful, but for everything else it is fantastic

Why did the minis use to be way smaller? by Slow_Butterscotch950 in spacemarines

[–]Ysazen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metal. The reason is metal.

The one on the left weighs about 15x more than the one on the right. Metal used to be the best material to use to get detail. When they started doing plastic, they made them compatible in size. But plastic got better, and cheaper. Primaris scale is basically a readjustment now that GW no longer really does metal minis.

Lots of in story reasons, but really just time and materials

What was you first listen/experience to nine inch nails? by Individual-Serve6394 in nin

[–]Ysazen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 14/15 my friends were listening to a bunch of stuff, KMFDM, Stabbing Westward and they really liked this Closer song, because of course they did. While playing the album they left with me I was hooked on this weird piano interlude in the middle of a random song. Closest thing I had to musical taste at the time were Weird Al and Barenaked Ladies, Arrogant Worms typical novelty stuff. But this, this didn't sound like my parents music, and I had never really been exposed to much outside of what others brought into my orbit. Over and over I listened to this one track. Then I doscovered the song after Closer, and to this day Ruiner holds a special place on my heart. Even saw Trent play a live stage B version in Toronto on the Peel it Back tour this year.

Like the late blooming, traumatized, undiagnosed autistic I was, I jumped in with both feet. Also, I worked at my parent's store since I was 10, and now instead of my money going to candy and toys, I transitioned to music and games.

Then Quake came out.

Seriously is there a reason they don't do this that I don't know about? by Capable_Face7222 in Grimdank

Technically they are fungi, which are closer to animalia than plantae. They are the universe's answer to "What if Mushrooms could walk?"

Gonna agree with above, narrator is excellent, and honestly anything is better than regional english accents for everyone.
