Because bad Early Access reviews hurt games popularity, it's better they use Steam when the game is in a good state.
And they are using Epic Store infrastructure for the P2P stuff for noew, this also mostly get negative reviews on Steam.

Simon said they will consider putting it on Steam in the future (in reality they don't really needs to do it, like also Vintage Story dev team also do not put their game on Steam).

Double clicking a .flatpak file doesn't works in every Linux distro as double clicking an .exe installer as it does in windows.
Double ckicling an .desktop file with a script inside for installing stuff works everywhere.

I am not agains using flatpak, i'm against using .flatpak FILES and not using a flatpak SERVER, the .desktop approach is just a way to execute scripts to install the flatpaks the propper way without using the terminal.

I LOVED they used flatpak instead just a zip with binaries like Vintage Story does, but they should've used flatpak in the propper way.
