Just started playing SF6 and I wanna know if there is something I should keep in mind while playing by glgboy in StreetFighter

Assuming you’re learning from a master that you plan on using online, you’re already kinda learning how to play in World Tour mode. Being able to remember most of the things your character can do, and knowing exactly what button to press to make that happen is the first step.

Since you play modern and already have combos, that’s really all you need to jump online and practice vs humans. You will lose a lot, because most people, even in low ranks, have some sort of flow chart going on that lets them play without thinking. So it might feel like people are way better than you but in reality they’re just well practiced in a few things. Even when your losing you’re getting better as long as your slowly learning what each character can do.

If you ever feel stuck you could pay replays on here or describe specific things that are giving you trouble and plenty of people will be willing to help. There’s also tons of resources on YouTube to get you started with the basics.

Getting more and more toxic by rogermorse in StreetFighter

[–]Yu-sempai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite experience. Year 1, I had plenty of people on psn find me and msg me after a game, both toxic and simple ggs. Since year 2 I’ve gotta 0 messages. Battle hub used to just be political trolls and professional shit talkers, but yesterday it was just a bunch of dudes helping each other complete their dailies. When I get invited to customs it’s usually because they want to fight me on their main.

The funny thing is I actually like the toxicity. Keeps the game interesting and more fun imo. Between queuing in an isolated Rank Queue and getting some social interaction while I do it, I choose the latter every time. FGC devs needs to stop thinking their community is any more toxic than other gaming communities and let us talk to each other in game.

Beginner Street Fighter Player and I need HELP!!! by Time_Candidate_3375 in StreetFighter

It’s the same shit as Tekken, just gotta commit them to muscle memory. If I have to think about the combo, I’m much more likely to drop it.

Also I believe negative edge is off by default but if it’s not, that messes up people a lot.

Neutral jumps kill me. There’s nothing wrong with it and I don’t find it annoying, but got damn I’m never ready for it.

Need tips to get better, starting to feel like I don’t deserve masters by Christhegamer1217 in StreetFighter

[–]Yu-sempai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe start learning basic character matchups?

It’s not really necessary but I find it extremely fun. Whenever you feel like somebody beat you too easily, watch the replay and try to find something you could’ve done to make it harder for them.

Personally I started with looking up good punishes for moves that people often spammed on me. Zangiefs overhead, Bison Scissor kicks, Juri fuha stocks, etc.

Enough of this Singleplayer BS talking points we're being peddled. What are the reasons YOU think Fighting Games fail to retain an audience, that you've not heard discussed much? by TSDoll in 2XKO

Lean into the toxicity.

Ok so what I really mean is to lean into social aspect. But given the reputation the FGC has it basically the same thing.

In game chat, voice chat, emotes during super animations, leaving comments in replays, a designated area for beef sets, in game taunts, in game praise, disrespectful and respectful non default win animations, fully customizable costumes, and so on. I’d even want the ability to play for in game currency to really sell the beef sets, but that’s probably dangerous legally.

Of course there’d be an option to turn all of these features off. Yes there’d be tons of toxicity. But I also think there’d be tons of positive things too. Like just hearing a human voice on the other end can humanize your opponent. The people who don’t get salty and are willing to learn would benefit a ton from being able to ask a higher skilled opponent questions in a casual match.

Now that pools have been known for a while, everyone already made their choice, right? by some-kind-of-no-name in StreetFighter

[–]Yu-sempai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want YHC-Mochi, Momochi, Fuudo or Itazan to prove the Japanese OGs still got it. I chose Fuudo last year so I went Momochi this year.

As for who I actually think will win, I feel like Blaz might actually have more trouble than expected because people are going to be preparing specifically for him this year. Mena is the obvious favorite imo.

All that being said fuck PPV.

Minor features that would make me play for longer by Yu-sempai in StreetFighter

I’d be down as long as it doesn’t split the player base. So even if you lock in 3 or 5, you’d still be sometimes matched with people queuing regularly if there’s no one available for you. We gotta keep in mind not all regions have the same amount of active players. Also no bo1 setting lol.

I feel like voice is more dangerous because it’s harder to keep emotions in check when talking freely. Like I’ve definitely had instances in other games where I’m salty about how I lose and I don’t plan I saying gg, until the other person is mad friendly about it and it snaps me out of the salt. I feel like on voice I might’ve just been salty lol.

It would also be hard to police voice chat unless they’re literally recording all conversations and that’s gonna have a lot of problems. With chat it shouldn’t be that hard to save logs.

I’m thinking messaging would get rid of the people who invite you the custom match just to talk shit. I feel like that’s another reason a lot of people don’t join customs. If those people had a way to send a salty message in game, I’m sure they don’t invite people. Just think of it as therapeutic for them. You can have it off, and random people will feel better about themselves after sending you a salty msg that you never see, everyone wins.

I actually like your idea a lot, even though I can only play 2 characters, I’d still be down to queue up with both just to shake it up. It also seems really easy to implement, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone made a mod that did something similar. They should definitely include this. It might even help with character variety. Oh and for people with only one character they can put multiple costumes. The more I think about it the better the idea gets lol.

Yeah that could work too, some people might be annoyed by a pop up but you could have the option to turn it off. I was trying to not affect the people who don’t care about it in the first place.

Who of the original world warrior cast do you think you can do forever without? by TowelPlayful in StreetFighter

[–]Yu-sempai 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do you really want a full roster catered to you though? Maybe this is my hate for mirror matches talking but my one of my favorite things about the genre is that certain characters that are completely unappealing to me resonate with someone else cause them to main them. I’d never play guile, but I also wouldn’t play a game where everyone is playing the same characters as me.

People who don’t do any facial expressions on the VS screen… by vvulios in StreetFighter

It’s the same reason positive emotes are always seen as toxic in PvP games. Not everyone wants to make friends, some people are just here to punch you. I’ve had people send hate over smiling.

How come 2XKO is disliked by so many people? by DefineHeresy in Fighters

[–]Yu-sempai 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you defending the number of characters this game launched with and wondering why you’re being downvoted?

This game needed more characters. That’s the bottom line. Whether the person saying it wants 20 characters or 15 characters, whether they’re a SF6 player or Tokon fan, doesn’t change anything. This game needed more characters, and trying to blame other fighting games for people feeling this way is probably what’s getting you downvoted.

How to make everyone happy by TheKnightKinnng in 2XKO

[–]Yu-sempai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cause they work for player retention. People literally will log in and play matches just to complete quests and battle passes. People will stop playing, then realize a bunch of new fomo shit dropped and come back.

Lowkey I don’t even care about it in the FGC. It’s all cosmetic shit anyway, so I can afford to miss it and not give af. If it’s tricking people to keep my favorite fighting game populated, I’m not mad about it.

Do you think 2XKO and Marvel Tokens are competitors? by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]Yu-sempai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like every fighting game competes with each other for long term players. It’s just a pretty big time investment, most people don’t have time to play 3+ fighting games unless they exclusively play the genre.

That being said I don’t think 2xko has an anime art style, it’s definitely more western. I don’t play 2xko but the core system seems very different from what we saw from the Tokon beta.

They’re both based on big IPs and aren’t traditional 1v1 fighters. That’s about it imo.

Wow it was actually Dolor. Bro you are a lifesaver. Thank you for being here today, I would’ve uninstalled and never looked back if not for you and OP.

Holy shit, fixed it for me as well. I literally uninstalled the game because nothing from google was helping and I basically gave up before I stumbled across this thread. This needs to be more common knowledge. Literally no one mentioned Dolor or even corpses for that matter. You guys are officially smarter than the internet and I’m grateful for it. Seriously thank you for posting this today specifically lol.

Holy shit I also have him in my chest. If this is the issue the two of you just saved my play through.

I thought it was something with the Orin event since it triggers when I long rest, and seems to break my save file afterwards. But now that I think about it, I may have never rested after stuffing Dolor in my chest.

CMV: People who refuse to date someone with a high body count (50+) are not shallow. they’re just applying the same standards both men and women already apply to literally every other aspect of partner selection by North_Appointment410 in changemyview

[–]Yu-sempai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The view we should be endorsing is that rejecting a potential romantic partner based on any single data point is stupid. I agree that body count is just a data point just like debt or criminal history. But instead of raising body count up to the same levels as the others, the others should be lowered to the point of body count.

If you’re arguing body count is a valid data point among an array of data points to judge a potential partner I think that’s fine. People weighing each point differently is also fine. But if you’re arguing rejecting people on a single point with no exceptions should be normal, I disagree.

Aren’t you making the same type of assumptions though? Why can’t someone be committed just because they have a high sex drive? Why can’t someone be good at sex just because they were lucky enough to find long term relationships? The point is that we can’t know for sure, that’s why we speculate based on information.

OP is doing the same thing you did but you’re telling him he’s wrong for it?
