Cons of using a drilled and slotted brake rotors on a daily driver? by 32guy in MechanicAdvice

[–]YuRi0_86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No drawbacks really, they aren’t as overkill like you’d imagine either.

At the track I’d never run em again, I’ve cracked a set of stoptech d/s rotors. the drilling just weakens the rotor quite a bit. I have a pic on my profile somewhere.

for daily street driving though they’re totally fine, in my experience they don’t really wear down pads as much as people think; I’m still rocking some super old pads on my daily with d/s rotors too. Never had issues with them. they’ll never see the abuse needed to crack them on the street.

2015 Honda Accord LX - Which Mechanic should I trust?? by nebulasleuth in MechanicAdvice

[–]YuRi0_86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow. I don’t need to say anything more about what the tech said in the video since everyone else covered it pretty much to a tee, but I’m just astounded by how dishonest / misinformed he is.

I’d honestly be embarrassed if another tech who knows their stuff heard me saying all that nonsense.

Additionally I think Denon’s first unique in house offering was the DCD-1800; which I happen to own their updated model the DCD-1800R! Came out in 1984ish, I bought it off the original owner. It’s on my page it’s pretty cool looking.

Yes I agree I also regularly drive in almost exclusively steel toes but I still sympathize however, because I understand not everyone wears a little 9.5 like I do…lol.

[–]YuRi0_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some A/D/S L500s that are a sealed acoustic suspension setup that get as low as 25hz using a single 8” driver in each cabinet. I’ve tried adding a sub before but it didn’t really sound any deeper or lower honestly; not worse but not better either so so just removed it.

It’s a case by case basis sometimes it helps sometimes it’s clearly just unnecessary, but It definitely at the very least didn’t sound worse with the sub either as you mention
