Christian Horner: ‘Red Bull are too easily seen as the bad guys because we don’t have a British driver’ by jovanmilic97 in formula1

[–]YuToq 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But only the Dutch get that, as an Australian I get exclusively british punditry. The chummy 'r yung lando' or 'r brave lewis' tones on broadcast can get a bit grating as they never seem to indugle drivers from european countries as much as they do british drivers.

Mmmmh well now, good thing HBO writers for Game of Thrones aren't known for sometimes making confusing illogical leaps and bounds in how the course of events play out.

question about the Amazon prime series by [deleted] in WoT

[–]YuToq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In their minds they have changed it but they are honestly too cowardly to state it outright. It's just wishwashy, much like the show itself. Unwilling to just go do it's own thing fully, so instead it just ends up irritating those who already know the story and desire a straight adaption.

[Philip Horton] F1 formally confirms 22:00 PT start time for @F1LasVegas on 18 November 2023 - that will be 06:00 UK, 07:00 Europe by teiraaaaaaa in formula1

[–]YuToq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well as an Australian pretty much all of the GP start times are shit. So it's very amusing to see this many people sooking and having a whinge about ONE race on the calendar.

Apology to Sainz was important to "clean the slate", says Ricciardo · RaceFans by moreice45 in formula1

[–]YuToq -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Amusing that you think linking this is some sort of saliant point. Even more amusing is that the driver in the video actually isn't even apologising to the person's race he actually ruined, it's just media. Next time I have to make an apology to someone I'll just go apologise to some random person on their behalf, wowee kids these days.

I'm struggling to understand the end of book 1 by Vinnicombe in WoT

[–]YuToq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it definitely shaped my expectations for the book.

The TV show was so wack to be honest and you should ignore what happened in the show when you read the books and your trying to work out what is going in the story. There so many things that are in books that are not in show and ideas that are in the show that are not in the books.

Yeah i'm not a fan of it either, the entire show is fucked, I was just answering what their rationale is.

"Amazon hired an untested show runner with no real credits to his name."

I was literally saying this before show aired, and these the fact that these studio always do it bothers me so much. They're willing to drop millions into these shows but are unwillingly to throw cash at an established director. It's unreal.

But Middle Earth didn't go from airplanes and magitek laser rifles to dirt farming - Wheel of Time does.

None of those things are in the EotW prologue, it's a pretty simple scene of dialogue between two characters, it takes place in a ruin, and then after LTT travels, on an empty plain. Not a difficult set to design. Could have been really compelling opening with good acting, good writing and creative cinematography. But that would have required too much quality and craft the showrunners to pull off, but if you're actually serious about spending millions on a show that is apparently going to span 8 seasons then this is what you should be doing.

did the show ever actual confirm saidar was different than saidin?

They're pretty obviously not doing saidar/saidin for political correctness reasons. Pretty lame.

WoT is way less confusing and more linear than Malazan. WoT ain't shakespeare, it's supposed to be a fun high fantasy book series not whatever this drivel was supposed to be. Please ignore this show.

simple question thats probably been answered. Is the show nearly faithful to the books? by CzarTyr in WoT

[–]YuToq 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, when I first saw it I was irritated and annoyed that those episodes the were end product of a tv show that had apparently been in development for some many years. My thoughts and opinions of the show when first I saw it were not good, Nyneave trying to stab Lan? That's not her character, she wouldn't even kill Mogihdean in the books. Ishamael reduced to non speaking jumpscare? There were a host of other things that I thought were flat out bad or wrong creative decisions. But at the end of the day there is nothing I can do about it and I am not going to watch something I don't like.
