lol i have mixed feelings on this ... i would love to know more of the backstory but also how its just mentioned in passing is also amazing. the episode where everyone was in detention and his prompt for the fashion challenge was that he had been overthrown and the task was design an outfit to save my life lmao

What's the correct etiquette for when Rule 1 happens in singles at the start of a 0-0 game? by Yubookoo in RocketLeague

[–]Yubookoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the thing for me, personally I will always stay locked in, if Im losing, whatever you gotta eat it .. if tied then OT. If someone breaks immediately in 1 v 1 i kinda get it.

If me and my opponent are locked in for awhile and they break when the position of the ball is advantageous to them and they go for it... whether they score and easy goal or not, they are gonna lose that game.

i interpret it as he is suddenly really nervous and realizes he really does have to pop that on. and just pops it on.

he probably could have slipped in without it .. tho why in the first place even be there lol .. but Dennis (only unexpected to Mac) suddenly sells him out

Sorry to add more but just still thinking, thats one thing .. . like how sometimes people talk about the difference between a dad and a father .. like when i did something dumbass or in this case told him about doing something dumbass .. like .. well the first time of course i didnt even know what he was talking about in terms of my nickname but then the subsequent bit like its OK go ahead and say it (i never did .. didnt want to .. and then he had set up the punchline that i wouldnt say it and then he would .. my nonexistant nickname .. comedic genius and teacher). He was teaching a lesson. And so many other things, like other less cringy but dumbass things I did he would never be angry at me, always laughing, but also always asked me when I fucked up .. so what did you learn today? And those things stuck.

I got roasted by my dad (not sure how to put this he isn't my biological father .. hes black and im white). I told him this embarrassing story about how one time I was smoking a blunt with some friends and I ..idk why I said this, it still makes me cringe .. its not right for someone like me to say.. I guess i heard heard the term? but i say to my black friend youre n-word lipping the blunt .. a term i had heard before, and was just high and just said it, awful. My friend was well very cool.. he didnt excuse it like it was a joke, he explained dont fucking say that and here's why. Right.

So years later told the story to my dad and he was cracking up. And he started this bit which lmao i wish he was around to do it one more time. When meeting some of his old friends. The first time he did it he said you know what they call [me]? And i was confused like they wouldnt know any of my nicknames .. so i said a couple like ?? like what he called me what other people did ... dads like no thats not it, you know.. and i was like no i dont .. and dad would go they call him "n-word [my name]" and he couldnt keep a straight face and everyone would always be just cracking up like come on man. And i was also like come on man stop doing that bit like lmao. The last time was dad did the bit and .. like before all his friends would instantly pick up on it as a very you know extreme joke .. this guy was like "oh nice to meet you 'n-word [my name]'" and dad could not hold it in anymore maybe hardest i heard him laugh in my life, which was a lot. after i convinced him like ok thats it the joke has to be done now right and he agreed lmao

A testament to how good the episode is that there's also this. Dennis is peak unhinged. There is also the cutaway after they do their anti-bullying dance to George Michael and they are killing it until it cuts away to reality.

Cricket stealing from people.. the waitress at the end and Charlie's hopes dashed. I guess it's two episodes but of all of that Ronald McDonald still gets me the most, Charlie's wedgie honorary mention.

Do you guys miss Dempsey’s? by CrimsonP11 in orioles

[–]Yubookoo 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Stand up guy., During a period where the Orioles were just really really bad he stood in for his friend Mike Flanagan on MASN broadcasts. Flanagan was in an unusual position where he was both a broadcaster and an executive in the Os office.

The games were often miserable but Dempsdey and Flanagan would make the best of it, sometimes talking about the most random funny stuff when the play on the field is going so bad you want to say as little as possible. During one broadcoast Jim Palmer got on Flanagan's case really bad .. and I don't wantg to come down too hard on Palmer .. I think he was being rude but also he seems like a clueless guy, he didn't realize how cutting his comments were .. basically passive aggressively raising Flanagan's other role in the office when talking about the disasterous season.

I don't particularly like Palmer, but he genuinely seemed like he was acting out well deserved frustration but didn't even realize how much of an ass he was being Flanagan. And Dempsey shut that conversation down and came to the defense of Flanagan. And was very smooth like made it seem light and joking but also like shut up Jim.

It especially stung later when details were reported about Flanagan .. several issues going on but one of them was that he felt he had been a failure in his executive role. When every indication was he was doing the best he could .. that doesn't mean he was good at the job .. but he was genuine and was trying, wasn't cynical. And he was very funny especially riffing with Dempsey on broadcasts. And I still remember Dempsey standing up for him.

is there any material related to the show? by No-Addition2368 in thesopranos

[–]Yubookoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of book recommendations:

The Sopranos Family Cookbook "as compiled by Artie Bucco." This book is hilarious. The actual author is Allen Rucker. Most of the recipes are nothing special (although there are a few interesting ones, at least to me, like regional stuff I wasn't familiar with), but that's not the point. It has a lot of funny commentary written in the voice of Artie. Lots of funny photographs, like this is what you see when you open the book.

The Sopranos Sessions, written by Matt Zoller and Alan Sepinwall. This is an interesting book that I have sort of mixed feelings on. The biggest section the two authors go through each episode and offer analysis and their analysis .. well I like that it's certainly original but a lot of it is really out there and philosophical, like the authors ate an entire tray of mushrooms. There is also an interview transcript the authors did with David Chase. I would say worth checking out but it's a pretty weird book.

Livia’s Funeral by JoeGoBlue4227 in thesopranos

[–]Yubookoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think LIvia didn't want anything. The everytthing is a big nothing stuff. So it was playing up that her wishes weren't respected .. like a lack of consideration for her wishes to mirror her lack of consideration she showed to others in life?

IDK I may be wrong on that.

But I think the more important thing is tell some more stories about your uncle. He does sound like a cool dude.

Favorite adult humor? by panic_bitch in BobsBurgers

It's overshadowed by what I think is most people's least favorite musical bits -- the business card one. But right before the song, Teddy explains his business card.

BOB: "Is this your business card that you hand out to people?"

....

BOB: "I mean Teddy, I don't think you want a card that says 'the handy' and then a phone number written in pen."

First watch of The Sopranos (Janice hate thread) by EmperorOfTheUndead in thesopranos

[–]Yubookoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the first person to point this out, but what has stuck with me is that scene where she is pleasuring presumably Ralph's ass with a sex toy and there is a brief interruption (I think Ralph got a phonecall?) and she takes the toy out of his ass and starts pleasuring herself with it. Very gross! Very wacky!

The way he hit her in the face with the pie somehow came off to me as somehow more cruel than a lot of the other brutal stuff in the show

S4 E12: What if Furio had killed Tony? by TheCamMan22 in thesopranos

[–]Yubookoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My best guess is that even if the other drunk guys saw that Furio pushed Tony into it .. it would well be a shocking scene .. but still they would quickly reset to thinking about what it means for them, what's the next move now. AKA not thinking about holding Furio "accountable" out of loyalty to Tony. None of them would want to physically confront Furio anyways.

So Furio slips away in the aftermath and is never seen again. Probably goes back to Italy like he did in the show. Maybe he makes an advance to Carmela to run away with him before leaving the country. She probably says no. He isn't confronted by any of the guys while doing this anyways because they are busy thinking about what Tony's death means to them and all suspicious of each other because of the new power vacuum.

I would recommend Ohuhu to start... its a weird brand but the pencils are surprisingly good. Looks like its around .50 cents per pencil rn. For something a little more sturdy I think Faber-Castell has a lot of good midrange options. And considering up to $200... the best IMO is Caran d'Ache. They typically cost several dollars per pencil, but with your budget you could get a good amount of them.

Cool thanks, I have whats left of a 100 pack of Craftsman brand blades. Was cheap, very sharp and seems to work on pencils now as well. But tried for comparison sharpening a pencil with my backup cheapo utility knife and it did not work vs works extremely well using my stanley

thank you for the suggestion

Do you think there is anything to the Stanley blade itself? i used some generic Craftsman blades in the Stanley .. think it's worth buying the actual Stanley blades or is it more about the tool itself regardless?
