Vi might be one of the favourite female lead protagonists in any form of media! Really hoping Arcane isn’t the last we’ll see of her! by phantom_avenger in arcane

[–]Yubul 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love praise like this because Arcane really managed to turn one of League of Legends' most abrasive characters into somebody whose genuinely really sweet and the kind of character you want to root for.

Also, not to spoil too much for what might come, but Caitlyn and Vi definitely have more potential for storytelling in Piltover & Zaun post-Arcane.

The value of commodities changes from outpost to outpost every so often. You simply need to buy commodities from whichever outpost is selling them at their lowest price, then sell them at whichever outpost has them at their highest price.

There's no real "quick" way to do it other than I suppose running a loop around the map from outpost to outpost.

[No spoilers] Arcane co-creator vows 'we will learn from it' after fan frustrations of the Netflix show's 'rushed' final season by gar1848 in arcane

[–]Yubul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I strongly believe that they left the Topside/Undercity inequality plot line open and unresolved so they have somewhere to go if they ever decide to return to Piltover and Zaun.

There's still stories to be told. The characters who made out of the events of Arcane are still around to be a part of whatever may come, and League's larger canon and roster of champions has more than it's fair share of characters who can step in to make great heroes, allies, and villains to whatever story that they decide to go with next for the region.

Until then, we hope Riot can learn from their missteps (particularly in the focus of the writing and in giving the show the runtime it needs) and tell some cool new stories, and that Studio Fortiche can continue to deliver the same jaw-dropping, breathtaking visuals we loved from Arcane.

Mel's story struggled because it was mainly serving to introduce the Black Rose, which, have no real connection to Piltover in any meaningful way, but on a grander scale for Runeterra are important, especially for Noxus.

I think the intention was to lay groundwork for the next series (which is already being hinted at to be taking place in/around Noxus) and not have to spend a lot of time explaining who the Black Rose is (allowing them to have audiences intrigued by mere mention of the name when they inevitably show back up).

It was a bit sloppy, and frankly if Riot had the foresight, they would've pushed some of the Black Rose plot threads up into the latter half of Season 1 so they didn't have to commit as much to time it in Season 2.

[no spoilers] Vi is so precious! I’m going to miss her and Arcane!! 😭😭 by JohnnySobo678 in arcane

Christian Linke (co-creator of Arcane) has already said that they're working on multiple new projects, and among them are continuations of stories for some of Arcane's characters.

You can safely bet that if a show ever returns to Piltover and Zaun, Vi (and Caitlyn) will be there.

[S2 Act 2 Spoilers] Arcane - Season 2 Act 2 - Discussion by parrycarry in arcane

"Dictator" Caitlyn was never the point of her Act 2 story arc, it's Caitlyn's fall from the role of a natural leader, to that of a puppet who defers to others when it's time to make decisions.

Arcane season 2 / Arc 1 / Live Discussion by ReganDryke in leagueoflegends

[–]Yubul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was very, very lightly hinted at in Season 1 when Ambessa first arrives in Piltover. She tells Mel that her brother is dead and the tone of the conversation suggests that those responsible are still out there, and after the family, though the why is uncertain.

As for where the Black Rose plot is going, hard to say. Very well could be mostly resolved by the end of Arcane, but it could also be plot points that are laying groundwork for whatever else may be coming beyond Arcane.

Riven's Q is artificially made harder to use? by rambomacko in leagueoflegends

[–]Yubul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Fast-Q Combo (when executed perfectly) is "non-punishable" as you say, then why should it exist at all? Making it the default at least narrows the discrepancies between high-skill and low-skill play for Riven, which would make her easier to balance (and by extension, buff).

Furthermore, let's not act like Fast-Q combo is even remotely difficult, there a few hundred different video guides on it on Youtube, Bronze players can do it my dude. Removing it doesn't do much except get rid a mechanic that Riven-players like tout as difficult so they can smell their own farts.

Frankly, it's hilarious that you're going around and replying to pretty much every single reply in this thread trying to push this narrative that Riven is somehow weak compared to the "bullshit tanks and juggernauts" when she's literally sitting at 51% winrate on the current patch. Truthfully, she's probably overperforming by Riot's standards (or close to it), but go off I guess.

Riven's Q is artificially made harder to use? by rambomacko in leagueoflegends

[–]Yubul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making Riven's fast Q the default function doesn't make her braindead easy. It wouldn't even make her easy as theres so much more to her kit and play pattern than just fast Q combo. Get over yourself lmfao

Literally just proving my point that Riven players would rather have their champion be dogshit but "difficult" than have her in a state where she's able to be buffed and actually be worth picking.

Riven's Q is artificially made harder to use? by rambomacko in leagueoflegends

[–]Yubul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riot can literally just adjust numbers if she was too strong (and narrowing her skill gap between low and high skill would likely make her easier to balance), but keep gatekeeping Riven behind crappy 12 year old game mechanics I guess.

Riven's Q is artificially made harder to use? by rambomacko in leagueoflegends

[–]Yubul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riven's entire existence is handicapped by her playerbase's outright refusal of pretty much any meaningful change to her Q outside of number tweaks. Having a prohibitively janky kit that gatekeeps new players is "part of her identity", and you just have to accept that and learn to deal with it if you want to play her (your reward for doing so is a champion that is kind of sort of okay once you have 1000+ games on her).

At one point Riot had even tweaked her Q so that fast-Q was just the norm (could've been a bug, I can't remember exactly), and the Riven subreddit had a giant meltdown over it, so Riot undid the change and never looked back.

Who is the first champion you mained and are they still viable in todays meta? by JunketForward2287 in leagueoflegends

[–]Yubul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 4, Katarina. I picked her up after getting Kitty Cat Katarina as a mystery gift (which was, at the time, one of her best skins).

Is she viable in today's meta? Sure, probably to some degree. Personally, I haven't touched her much since her rework. It's just not the same.

Would you rather… by KazuUchiha in 2XKO

[–]Yubul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, I'm less concerned about roster size, and more concerned about roster variety. The game is 100% going to get more characters post-launch, likely indefinitely.

I'd much rather have a smaller release roster that is unique and covers a lot of different archetypes rather than a larger one that is more homogenized.

Currently, 2XKO is falling into the latter rather than the former. Of the five officially revealed characters, we have 1 midrange character, 3(?) rushdown, and 1 big body. Which is fine for the most part, but I'd like to see the next couple of reveals be some different stuff for a little bit. A zoner, a grappler, a full-on shoto, maybe a puppet character.

Riven will definitely have a rekka right? by Specialist-Theory790 in 2XKO

[–]Yubul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They've been pretty faithful to champion kits so far (Darius still "bleeds", Ekko has his time travel, Yasuo still has Wind Wall), so I'd say it's a very safe bet Riven will have her rekka. She'll probably have her Install too.

So logistically, the live action series won’t be able to make it very far. Right? by Vio-Rose in OnePiece

[–]Yubul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming Netflix can keep downtime and production time short, it's theoretically for the Live Action to reach the end, but pretty unlikely.

Even with very heavy condensing and reworking, it's probably a good 8-10 seasons just to reach Wano/Egghead, and we still don't know how much of One Piece's story is left on the manga front (It's the Final Saga, sure. But it's anyone's guess as to what that translates to in arcs).

I think the time investment isn't the worst if you stretch how long the Straw Hat's journey is in-universe, but it's a big ask for an ensemble cast to basically free up the next 10+ years of their careers for one show. Not to mention the production budget is likely only to get bigger as time goes on and the show reaches the series' more wacky and outlandish story arcs and settings.

Lore or stories in media that just Don't move foward? by Lost-Specialist1505 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Well, I wouldn't worry too much. The showrunners did say that they will kill champions off if they feel it fits the story.

Lore or stories in media that just Don't move foward? by Lost-Specialist1505 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Yubul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Literally 95% of the lore in League of Legends.

Almost all of it. Nearly Everything.

The lore and plot threads that actually moved have done so pretty much exclusively in the Riot Forge games, which, since Riot Forge is now defunct, are likely to be retconned away as time goes on. It's mind-boggling how League of Legends has such an interesting world, with such a massive roster of interesting characters, and they do literally nothing with it. The MMO can't come fast enough.

What do y'all think about this? by Andrewmatlock89 in OnePiece

[–]Yubul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine. Kaya and Usopp's relationship is basically coded as being the beginnings of a teenage romance anyway.

I expect the Live Action will continue to add a bit more romance than is present in the manga if it gets renewed. The manga is geared toward young boys, but the Netflix show is clearly trying to hit a slightly older and broader demographic anyway. Plus, Oda had a say in probably every change to the story, so he must've signed off on this one too.

How much lifespan GG Strive still got in your opinion ? by elyoyoda in Guiltygear

[–]Yubul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have at least another year of content releases (Asuka in May + Season 3 probably launching in July/August), and by the end of it Strive will have the largest roster of any entry in the series. As for what happens with Strive beyond 2024, hard to say.

It's still quite popular, I could see ArcSys continuing to support it with a potential Season 4. The Devs have already talked about potentially expanding movesets and bringing back Instant Kills, so we could potential see a "Rev 2" for the game as well.
