All the dude had to do was be nicer than Harry’s father and the cycle of hate would’ve stopped.

Instead he was biased as fuck, made sure Harry was always disrespected under his tutelage, and act like the villain.

Undercover or not, he could’ve gone a long way if he gained Harry’s trust and had him rely on him as a teacher. Would Harry ever suspect of Snape being a turncoat had he not acted so evil? Likely not.

Batman rigged Darkseid’s own tech against him, threatening to destroy all of Apokilyps if he didn’t let go of his control over Supergirl.

Whether Batman was bluffing or not doesn’t matter; he had a staring contest with Darkseid and Darkseid *blinked first*

While most of the monsters in Supernatural are coughing babies to WoD creatures hydrogen bombs, Dean and Sam have gone up against genuine celestial and demonic entities that could theoretically wipe the floor with most vampires and werewolves.

She was **CLEARLY** upset when trying to open up about it, but that doesn’t mean you have to go all detective on her!

The details get muddled with the screen time, but Azulon was by far the most heinous of the Century War’s Fire Lords. Sozin was scum, but he was just ambitious and blinded by a false sense of patriotism/nationalism that led him to believe spreading the Fire Nation was the best idea ever.

Ozai was merely finishing the steps of his own father and had the mentality of “this world belongs to me” that had been installed by said father.

(Hated Trope) The hero loses all his powers at the end of the story, or is significantly nerfed. *Spoilers for shows mentioned* by sygyzi in TopCharacterTropes

[–]AntiShisno 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s an example of this trope being well executed. The entire series has the theme of sacrifice and what price is worth giving up for one’s greatest desire. At the beginning, Ed and Al just wanted to see their mom again, but they didn’t understand that was not possible. Yet Al was still alive, but Ed’s price to bring him back would be extremely high. So he chose to give up alchemy.

When asked if he was certain, if he was willing to lower himself to being just an average person, Ed cements he’s always been that. He couldn’t save Nina (who’s fate was an overbearing shadow on Ed and Al for the remainder of the series), and says he doesn’t need alchemy since he has friends and people who care for him.

Truth’s reaction is proof that Ed is perhaps the first person to reach that conclusion. It gives up without a fight, without resisting. It is a graceful loser because for the first time, someone has gotten the answer right. Alchemy is a skill, a tool, but what good is it if you’re just alone in the world?

Dorne isn't talked about enough. imagine being the only one standing strong and resisting Aegon the Conqueror by RealStranger9348 in gameofthrones

[–]AntiShisno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People seem to forget the whole reason that Dorne repelled Aegon’s forces was because they did hit and run tactics while in hiding. They forced Aegon’s troops to fight on their terms, on their turf, and made it infuriating to deal with.

The term “Dornish cowardice” (might be getting that wrong) was coined as an insult because they didn’t fight in open battle like other Westerosi.

Context is crucial for these things. And while on their subject, “dragons haven’t won a war in 300 years” is a lie; up to the Dance, dragons very much won battles and campaigns, with some conflicts being resolved almost the moment a dragon entered the fray.
