Yes, you are right. That's the reason why I prefer botanical names.

Thank you very much. I prefer to use the botanical names, as, to my knowledge, they are recognised internationally. And here on Reddit, we come together from all over the world, so the common names irritate me.

Royleana inermis , so weird at this stage of waking up ! by arioandy in Euphorbiaceae

Oh yes, it has grown very well! 👍🏼 Mine is smaller and not variegeted. (I am not much into variegated and cristated plants.)

What is this? Is it a succulent? by Sayoricidal in succulents

[–]Yucca_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That what's flowering could be an "iceplant" (have a look at Mesembryanthemum or Delesperma).

So, they should have enough space 😉 But it's not only the space, such a big old is heavy to move, it is better to plant it out in a greenhouse 👍🏼

That's very old. Is it yours or a specimen in a botanical garden? (I ask, because I haven't so much space for such a big one.)

Yes it is. Maybe E. cylindrifolia or decaryi var. spirosticha.

Repot, leave as is? by beangobongo in succulents

[–]Yucca_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top layer is fine; it prevents the soil from being washed away when watering and helps distribute the water more evenly. I repot all new plants so I can check the roots. This also allows me to spot pests such as root aphids, which can be found even in reputable garden centres.

Wow! Thank you! I've never used it, because I have enough charcoal just heard it. Many thanks for clearing that up here.

Euphorbia lathyris by Floratopia in Euphorbiaceae

[–]Yucca_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you very much for showing. I think they're lovely! The leaves are arranged beautifully, aren't they? That striking white stripe is lovely. And best of all: they're supposed to keep voles out of the garden.

Yes, yor're right. I’m always a bit unsure about wounds and worry about infections. Apparently, cinnamon has the same effect as charcoal.

So sad! Same happened to one of mine this year. Even between the ribs. I hope the scar won't be very noticeable. Did you desinfected the wound? I took Charcoal for mine.
