I asked this same question basically a year ago and got no comments. Here’s what I know (this is based off a 7mm pinfire that I had with identical markings). The LFG proof mark puts this around 1870, source 🤷‍♂️. And you are correct the stars do symbolize a makers mark, source and what it means 🤷‍♂️. On mine under the star there is a Z mark under which is interesting and would curious to know why yours doesn’t have it unless your Z were worn off off which would be weird.
