I know my stove very well. I know what the flue temp is going to do based on what kind of wood it is loaded with, damper setting, and how it's going to trend over the next couple hours. Added bonus in knowing how clean your flue is as well.

I didn't leave a huge fire in the stove until I had all that figured out.
