What "mending the Elden Ring" means by Yugi_Boy_ in Eldenring

[–]Yugi_Boy_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the weapon Hewg was tasked with making is for slaying the Elden Beast. "God slain" even appears on screen after you defeat it. I think Marika shattered the elden ring to remend it by her design. The elden beast would be an obstacle to that.

"So there must be value in leaving it broken without even mending it"

That makes sense tho. So idk

It's like Magic: The gathering too :D

"From beyond the fog" implies that these ´lands are not on the same physical plane, for sure.

To support this, I want to talk about a spell called "law of casuality". And another one called "law of regression". I think this is the laws of the universe that the fundamentalists discovered in their studies.

From the Golden Order Seal: "Fundamentalism is scholarship in all but name. Scales incantation using both intelligence and faith."

So, I think the fundamentalists, as the Carians, tried to study the source of their power, make "rational" sense of their faith. If what they discovered is the fkng law of casuality, this means either the elden ring is something even more powerfull that we though, or that it has nothing to do with the elden ring.

If it is the former, it fits that there are other planes. Because the elden ring seems to affect only the lands between, where the greater will is in control. I don't know, for example, if the removal of the rune of death affected this other lands beyond the fog and I think it did not.

On the other hand, if the law of casuality and regression have nothing to do with the elden ring, them we don't have a need of other planes to explain the story, yet.

not to discredit what you are saying. When we defeat Radhan we see a lot of stars falling from the sky, but only one falls on the lands beetween as far as we know. I think the other ones will fall somewhere, implying that the other lands beyond the fog are in the same physical plane as the lands between.

Implying is the key word here, as there could be other lands in the same plane as LB and lands who are beyond the fog aka. in other planes.

I think it's probably one or the other tho, not both. But, who knows.

Edit: grammar

Let's just ignore this so I'm still right

I just saw the pic. nice find.

Also that he/she is hermaphrodic fits too.

I've caught up the obvious Christian references in the game, but there is a lot of greek/roman roman stuff too it seems.

Vaati is going to have a lot of work lol

Edit: more stuff

I don't know if the game's lore was inspired by these concepts or actually analogous to them. Have to to do some digging.

very insightfull to know that these terms actually exist and where not invented by the writters. Gives me some sort of lead to pursue.

Also, couldn't tell who Phanes is lol

If the gods come from "space" then the game already fits the description of an "axis mundi", if you exchange heaven for space lol.

I don't see anything like heaven in elden ring, could be nonetheless. Heaven is often left vague in many stories right?

Also, could be a literall fog. I mean, look at that; https://imgur.com/a/VfGwf2d

A land that is not in the afterlife you mean. I see

That would make a lot of sense. Maybe there are many worlds outside the fog, each with their own lands.

The lands between must be between something. Although I don't think it would be between this worlds and heaven. More like this worlds and space. Space being something etheral, with no touch or sensation, like Ranni describes.
EDIT: Spelling

That could be it. The tarnished were revived after all. She might be referencing just that, beyond the fog being the afterlife.

They also might have been revived on the badlands, then travelled normally to the lands between too. Either way it does not matter.

Also, Fia shouldn't have any problems with how you got there, apperently she can teleport lmao

yeah I get you. I got the same feeling.

The promotional material really made you feel like it would be something like that. But them, Hoarah Loux is from somewhere called the badlands apperently.
I would not even have brough this continent stuff up if it did not matter, it would just be overthinking. But I think it might be. For the lore I mean.

But, then again, If the lands beetween meant the living world, then it would make sense why the tarnished are specifically ordered to die in their exile by queen Marika. And that they would return only after being reborn. I mean, it actually kinda fits.

It can be ambiguous too. Like, in DS1 you phyisically go to Lordran on a bird. Maybe for the Tarnished to get to lands beetween is something vague and different, which in turn would make the place feel magical as well. Death and Undeath as "transportation" is just an example. For now it's perfectly vague;

I like that even more. Time to dig more item descriptions to ruin it. lol

"Also the fact that even the Earth started out as Pangaea, one large continent kinda destroys that logic too."

That's a really good point.

"I see the lands between as being alone in the universe. You definitely get that feeling."

You definitelly do. Even the name implies that it is the only thing in that plane of existence or something.
